I remember that Raider game when Jared Cook stopped on that route, he had the hottest hands on the team that season but that play ended his Raider career. At the same time our WR corps was depleted, Crab and Roberts were both done and Chucky had TEs playing WR and Carr wasnt doing anything special on his own.

ngl a lot of these there’s an excuse like the trick plays or ppl knowing they not gon catch up or thinkin the ball carrier stepped out or a teammate was gonna complete the tackle

“ Knowing” they won’t catch up, or thinking a teammate is going to make the tackle is not a valid reason to stop playing. Especially the second one you never just assume a teammates gonna bring someone down and leave them all alone if you can you have to get in on that tackle.

QBs are the biggest "discretion is the better part of valor" players in any sport, especially the ones who play just good enough to lose. I remember Ron Jaworski of the Eagles throwing a pick six...he was the last man standing in the way of the endzone, and he did an el floppo to the turf rather than risk getting hurt.

To be fair, a couple of those plays were designed to not put in effort. For example, the packers purposely let the broncos score a td, otherwise the broncos could've ran the clock Down and kicked a field goal to win. By letting them score, the packers got the ball back and a chance to tie the game up again
