NG+ Secret Starting Class: Marika in Elden Ring 

If there’s anything I’ve learned working with the public for the past 4 years, if it can be misunderstood, eventually someone will. Doesn’t matter how transparent or basic it is. I have to tell dozens of people a day that the green button means “confirm” or “enter.”

It was absolutely instrumental for my Perfumer Cosplay run. Immediately just ran to Caelid to pick up that and Flaming Strike before anything else so I could wring out some damage from the Erdsteel Dagger. So... yeah, can confirm you CAN rush to it straight away. Can't in good conscience recommend a perfumer run tho, as much as I like a lot of the things. Loads of annoying farm not only for the armours but also for the perfumes themselves. Perfumes are really powerful but since Erdsteel Dagger leans itself towards faith a lot of them get more or less superseded by spells (loads of fire spells, Howl of Shabriri is a better version of Bloodboil, Uplifiting doesn't stack with Golden Vow.....) and the daggers themselves fall off real hard once you reach Leyndell. Still kinda going through that, somehow, having a middling time in Farum Azula looking for that last Bell Bearing to get both knives maxed out in some faint hope

@@VileLasagna I don't remember if the Erdsteel Dagger is a somber one or not, but the regular bell for maxing it out would be dropped by the Godskin Duo. I don't remember where the somber bell is though, I'd have to look that up.

@@davidroberts2180 It's a common weapon, yeah. So levelling up two of those is a massive massive pain, so hard to upgrade common weapons in this game. Sombers, though, are everywhere by comparison (since you need about a tenth of what you'd need in commons). If you still want the bell bearings, tho, the final ones are, indeed in Farum Azula too. 7/8 just around the third grace, the one after the first big temple full of beastmen where you get the beastmen ashes and the prayerbook. And the one for 9s is in the smaller flooded chapel right before the great bridge grace. The one you have to run back through on the way to Placidusax

I've done early (like, pre-Margit) sprints through Redmane Castle for the whetblade on several characters; once you get the pathing down it's pretty straightforward.

It's really the only place in the game it's worth it to know how to parry, she is very Sekiro/Bloodborne pilled

I just beat the final boss, just as the samurai starting class (no upgrades, no heals, RL9) after 30 hours and couldn't disagree more. His moveset is perfectly balanced around your roll. Radagon has massive AOE slam attacks, which wouldn't make any sense in a Sekrio style deflect setting. He also throws massive holy spears and shotgun bursts, which wouldn't make any sense to deflect. That's why you can only parry like half of his moveset. Keep in mind that parrying in Elden Ring stops attacks, while sekiro deflects doesn't, so how they would implement getting smashed in the head multiple times, while you just deflect it is beyond me. You also have to keep in mind that Elden Ring started development at about the same time as sekiro over 7 years ago. So I can guarantee you that the major bosses of Elden Ring were already fully conceptualized when Sekiro released.

He intentionally called it: Secret starting class, despite it not being secret or a starting class. It is a cosplay run. He called it that because then more people click on it, because they get deceived for thinking that something new and secret has been discovered in the game. If it was: SICKEST COSPLAY I HAVE EVER DONE. OP DAMAGE. That would not be clickbait, as then the title would not mislead people.

no, she is a special case, her stance starts regenerating if you try to stance break her while she's doing a hyperarmoured move. it acts as if the the stance started regenerating over time so if you hit her again quickly enough it stops it@@tulokthebarbrarian2033

The last bit is the thing that gets me the most. I guess OnlyWaifu never heard of the phrase "Don't throw stones if you live in a glass house". The Vyke starting class was my first Tulok video and even then there was no inkling of clickbait and it was pretty obvious from the introduction that it's a challenge run. There's a reason why Tulok's videos were recommended to me and OnlyWaifu's wasn't. It's almost as if RU-vid knows I hate clickbait.

You're right, she had issues with the phase transition bugging out from stance breaks so they patched that you can't kill her while breaking her stance, keeping 1hp so you have to hit her again.

It took me SO MANY runs to even find out you CAN reach Redmane in a hostile state. Kinda the same as Tulok, reached the impassable greatbridge and was a bit "Oh... wait, so things CAN attack you here? SO WEIRD". But yeah, did that running for early Flame Strike and Whetblade. That's a solid setup for a whole plethora of builds. Just run there and get yourself a standard strategy for most of the game straight away

@@VileLasagna Best way to get there is by going to Fort Gael, use the warp gate on the highest tower, and that teleports you to the other side of the impassable bridge, so you don't need to worry about them catapults.

@@manjiimortal That's how I got there in my first playthrough. Also Fort Gael has Lion's Claw and Flame Grant Me Strength which are good reasons on their own to swing by. Impassable bridge is not quite as impassable as the name would imply even under fire, though and if you're super early just looking to grab some goodies in a place you have no business being in for 40 more levels then I THINK that's still easier than sneaking through Gael? Not too bad either way, tho

@@VileLasagna Flame Grant Me Strength is essential for any physical or fire-based build, and Lion's Claw is an outstanding AoW. I usually make an habit of going to Fort Gael after getting the runes from Greyoll's and the Night's Cavalry on the Dragonbarrow, so Fort Gael isn0t a big issue.

@@manjiimortal Lion's Claw is a banger of an AoW, it absolutely rips. I used it a lot in my magicless run. The backup striking weapon was a Nightrider's Flail with that AoW. Main alternated between Great Epee (and later Stitcher) and Guardian Spear, depending on the mood. Usually with Impaling Thrust, which is another absolutely bonkers AoW, especially in these extra long weapons. Honestly all of these are pretty solid tickets to "Okay, I have the thing which can win the game now" which you can immediately grab from the start =3
