This is too deep for a common Zulu to understand because even Zuma is leasing the land from the Zwelithini Family not Zulu Kingdom. Mfm!! Keep ZIMBABWE out of our affairs. They forcefully took the land from the white farmers. Meaning, they have land that belongs to them as they always make noise about it. Yes I only have a matric , worked for 45 years and am still working at 66 , to build a business in which most employees , 95% are black ( seen as you can’t get past skin Color ) , this has allowed most of my team to raise and educate families so - what have you done ? . It seems absolutely baffling to me that people in Ngonyama Trust have not been given title deeds-it seems such an obvious thing to do, and would totally transform the economy. I live in a suburb where all the normal rights of ownership etc apply. 2km away, over a hill, is ruled by the chief, with a totally different set of rules, like 2 different countries....

Why do people publicly talk about something they don't know nothing about. KZN is the only province that has preserved the biggest portion of land to be used by natives. I live in the land under Ingonyama Trust, we've never had any issues concerning ownership of land and the rules set by Ingonyama Trust makes it clear that no land will be seized from its owner or owner being expelled (ukudingiswa) unless the family is committed a serious crime and found guilty. Before you get expelled the men from the area discuss the seriousness of your crime before the Chief make a final decision. White people has never been happy with any successful blacks project they always find something to criticize

I still think that people living on the land should be given full title deeds, so that they are then free to buy, sell and take a loan out against the land. Is this a bad idea? If so can you explain why?

@sindisondlovu You totally missed the point. People or natives need land ownership not access. Ingonyama Trust is worse than what happened in 1913 Land Act. Only one family has the title deed and the rest Leasehold (no more PTO). The Zulus don't understand these things maybe and if they were written in their native language they would understand that even their 4th generation will never have a title deed under this gift from apartheid regime under De Klerk to the Zwelithini family.

That comes at heavy cost of which I doubt that locals will be willing to bear.fragile
