Ngohiong is still technially just one of those chinese foods which were made popular in Cebu. Hence the word Ngo hiong. Same as siomai, siopao, pansit, etc. Although it is originally a Chinese food but with the usual creativity of Filipinos, we made it more homegrown or something suited to the Filipino taste / palette.

Balut eggs is also not originally came from us, influenced by the Chinese presence back in 1885. But the Chinese origin just stop or non-existent now, but we adopted it. Also Vietnam have too called Hot vit lon. I don't eat balut egg though.

Ano po yang coconut shoot at bamboo shoot? Yan kasi mga pinaglalagay ng iba. Alin sa dalawa yung Ubod?

pumili ka lang kung ano ang gusto mo,nasa sa'yo yan kung gusto mo ng ubod/coconut heart palm or labong/bamboo shoot. kaming mga bisaya ang tawag namin sa bamboo shoot ay "dabong"
