Finally they changed up the commentary. I couldn't stand another year of Emrick. But I cannot stand the scoreboard being at the bottom. I hope there's a way to change that.
Cullen Carry this commentary sucks man..everything sounds like game 7 of the Stanley cup with this guy...he needs to tone it down big time. It sounds like the commentary of an arcade style gam like nhl hitz..not the commentary of a tv broadcast
Zane Campbell I get that it’s just hockey and there’s not much to change but from what I’ve played it feels the exact same a nhl 19. Like I’m really expecting a large graphical change or engine change but no.
JDP Trooper I mean the new goalie animations are quite nice.. and I think that alone is quite refreshing. I was so tired of the terrible animations. With the new graphics, goalies and commentary, i think it’s a decent improvement. I just know I have to change the way I play all because of the new goalies
Ah yes Nhl 98 for the playstation played that game till the disc wore so bad that gameplay would freeze or skip on me during gameplay..Jim Hughsons call in that game made that game more enjoyable..I am playing it on my pc via emulator...Great memories for me.
@@rocstormmc first of all, no it hasn't. It's changed a lot in 100 years. This video game plays the same as it did on the last get consoles. It's a rip off year after year. You get a roster update and a few new animations. I can't wait for another developer to make a hockey game.
It's bad, don't expect to keep him there for long, they are probably working on the next gen one with someone else lol. This is really bad, like it's game 7 in the playoffs in OT x100 on acid. Calm down... Or maybe they can't slow it down a bit.
I agree the scoreboard should be the the top left or right as anything on the bottom is blocked by my center channel speaker...so I will be playing with it off for that reason only as I have no where else to put my center channel speaker...thanks EA.

I really hope all these years of minimal improvement are making room for a big jump for next gen. Seriously compare this to the detail in NHL 2K10 ... and that was 10 years ago.
I wish the bottom graphic had slightly more information like shots on goal or something, and between faceoffs, it would be handy if it had some player statistics too. In terms of the commentary, obviously they haven't recorded enough since this is the first year of this team, but they need to say names more frequently.
@cashtheyen oh shit my bad, I knew they had one with the NFL and just assumed that's why 2K stopped making them. Then it's probable that they they see that hockey is too much of a niche market for more then one game series. MLB would be exactly the same if the show wasn't PS4 exclusive
I like to always wait a bit before I buy each EA Sports game, that way it really feels fresh and new. The last NHL game I played was 17 so this is going to be so much fun to play for me.
Thanks for saving me the money of not buying a brand new console and NHL 20. I started playing NHL 12, stopped playing after '17 - ain't coming back now. Call me when they make a new game from scratch. Thanks again Game Informer
Commentary is very energetic, although he sounds like the guy from NHL Hitz, if they were keeping Ray they should have got Gord Miller or Chris Cuthbert

I understand everyone's frustration with the game feeling the same for the last 5 years or so, but it looks like the best version yet. Until next gen or VR is released you won't see a huge difference. I can't really complain too much as I started playing hockey games back in the Wayne Gretzky hockey/Blades of Steel days for N.E.S. Watch a video of those games and then come back to this 👍 lol
@@killagdawg unless you havent played this game ever there is no point in buying it. Fixing gameplay that should've been fixed 5 NHL games ago. Same thing as 18 and 19. Except so called AI changes they have been making for the pass 5 years that only benefit hut players no one cares. They forgot their most popular modes are offline. Not hut not World of chel. Franchise mode. Unless you are a online player just play 19 same exact game.

it looks smoother. Updating the graphics I can see. New commentators, new presentation package, better goalies. Everything looks quite refreshing. I’m very happy to see that. I think the goals looks much better, really beauty goals. Looks very nice.
What's the deal with EA not being able to get the scene transitions to be nice and smooth...any time there's a reply, the action freezes for that split second and then the EA logo comes up and takes you back to the action. I know its not a super huge deal but that slight pause/freeze just ruins the immersion a bit.
Looks like a great game...The new scoreboard should be on the upper left or right corner...The new announcers are a fresh change that was needed badly...Two things that would make this game much more enjoyable though would be custom roster sharing and custom music into the game...I was watching a clip of nhl 20 and noticed during a stoppage of play a song they had in another NHL game a few years back...unacceptable to recycle the same music in game...Custom music would be awesome in these games again.
I last played this series in 2008. I was a total failure at playing the game, but it was so much fun creating custom teams and players, and pinning them against one another. Can that still be done? And does anyone recommend a specific game in the series since then?
Looks good to me but I don’t like the goal animation, I wish the scoreboard would just say the word goal on it like before, and also it seems they didn’t really update the goal horns very much and still no goal songs
For everyone who’s dissing the beta for not looking like a real hockey game, it’s because on here it’s broadcasted on EA and not NBC. Another part of why they changed up the commentary, Doc and Eddie commentate on NBC, not EA. Love the new announcer, makes the game sound more epic in itself. Scoreboard does fuck w/ my mind however but I’ll just get used to it
How do you figure offline modes will be "great" from this video? It seems like more of the same lame nonsense. Power plays are awful, skaters still don't know how to interact with the boards, there's still so many players with generic faces that look nothing like the real life player. It looks more like another year OF THE SAME BORING GARBAGE.
Feel like it’s a little there’s to much energy in the commentary where it should be more laid back If you watch regular season nhl games the commentaries more laid back and in a talking voice But when they score there is a lot of energy which is something I always wanted from doc In real life doc callings are some of th best especially diring intense moments
Hockey Dad73 most regular season games tho commentary only gets excited when their team is doing good or scoring ( example : jack edwards ) these two guys are showing no biases and imo this commentary is great and will only get better as they will get more lines added when the regular season for nhl starts
i love what they did with the commentary, i have been complaining for years, but what is it with them not yelling when they score? is it becuase its the home team and they are imitating that it’s the home commentary?
Doc and Eddie's contract for the Nhl series was not renewed.They went with local guys calling the games because it would cost EA less to bring them in during the season to record new material for the game.
There really does need to be a whole revamp of the experience of the game. From the announcers, presentation, to the crowds arena's and music. They have gotten the ai and the gameplay improved but everything else feels so stale and even this new commentator doesn't seem to have new things to say just repeating the old saying in a more energetic fashion.
Can I also add, for me personally, i'd love to be able experience the intermissions if I want, watching the Zamboni clean the ice, perhaps see the mascot interact with the crowd or have some type of on ice thing, something that you could skip or not but make it feel like being at a real game.
Still herky-jerky movement and no inertia carrying the players around. Increasing your character animations and their blending is great, but a more dynamic response (with middleware like Euphoria, or the grounded "weight" of people like in RDR2) is critical in sports games.
