Hey xTech! I wanted to address your concern about the viewership (by the way thanks for the Jesse method shout-out, I sent the video to everyone I know!), I think the addition of 30+ franchise potential created players took us out of the simulation; the more realistic a franchise mode is, the easier it is to be invested, which is why NHL21 as a whole is failing IMO. All in all, I think the effort you put in is huge and we all appreciate it, I just think the massive wave of created character's threw people. See this one through though, you put a lot of effort in and it shouldn't go to waste!
If you don’t at least reach the semi finals this upcoming season it’s time to do a dump of schmaltz, Weinberg, and other older players and get the young guns going. However, I do love this series and wish for it to continue.
I think the Shanghai franchise was cool because it wasnt the nhl. I was thinking a few episodes back like all the same players for the most part makes it feel like a rerun Maybe next franchise could be one of the Europe leagues switched in for the NHL. Everyone starting with low overalls makes it a lot more fun to watch imo because you can do it 20 times and probably get 20 very different franchise modes because different players will develop each time
The one thing that I would change about this series is adding a bit of a story. My favorite all-time youtube series was your shanghai dragons series, and my favorite part of it was the rivalry between wright and kostin. I think that if you did something like that again, this series could feel unique.
the rivalry between newfoundland and alaska is manufactured and I think that's what's wrong with this series. They're complete garb and I don't really care about them except the odd check up twice a year.
As much as I know you like them and as good as they are, some time in the future I would try to trade Wennberg or Burakovsky. They will not stay at those OVR's and their value is boosted really high. I would try to trade one of them for a younger player to help the team's core become younger and to help the team for the future.
i have not been into this. it is not your fault. but it feels like we have already watched this same gm mode dozens of times. i am tired of this game in general. hockey manager has been overtaking it now.
i feel like chemistry isnt just about getting the plus 5, looking at what the player prefers in terms of what they like to do compared to what the coach wants for each lines might also impact how strong the chemistry works with each player. Id assume player type also makes an impact on how good the players work together with each other. I feel like you're seeing the lack of the right players on the right lines is impacting the defensive side of the team as you're scoring well enough, but allowing a ton as well. And I also think the quick sim takes chemistry into account when the real time in game sim doesnt take chemistry into account and you need to rely on overalls more than chemistry.
The chemistry is highly over rated, I've had a line combo get +5 and they struggled so I put in another center and that line only got a +1 yet it took off and started dominating. There is a hidden chemistry in there somehow where random players will just click for no logical in game reason
For me, I like watching a series with realistic trades, and developing through a prospect system, but this series has been just all about instant gratification. Watching you trade up all the time, and grabbing sure fire players isn't as fun as watching someone develop over a few seasons to become a LLLL,Legend
I feel like we are falling out of this is because we’ll have no fan favourites, personally I don’t like McMuffin, maybe if you get a stud like michkov I might want to pop in more, I already have watched every on one of your videos in the past few years but nevertheless I think you need to get a fun player like you have had in the past like a agent C so I think you should get michkov or a amazing sniper that is fun to watch ( like bedard ), also it is just so fun saying matvei michkov
hey xTech. I’ve been a big fan for a while but I feel like your new franchise modes aren’t as entertaining. I love the unique ones like the XTHL or Storm Bears, where you really go all in on story lines and use fan art and Twitter in the videos for storyline. Recently i have lost interest. What could help is a new expansion franchise team in like London? Also I feel like you should do something other than franchise mode like maybe a Be A Pro this will help your channel grow and bring back old fans before a new franchise mode.
Xtech!!! Listen. For another franchise I feel like you need to bring some nostalgia in some way. Like make CEDRIC CORRY JR, Agent C had a son and he is now on your team or like Taro Tsujimoto JR. I just think brining some nostalgia back would be good and you actually control them

Definitely don’t give up on lightining he is a 23 year old high elite goalie who is 87 OVR and it is so hard to find a top tier young with good potential goalie deep into the franchise
guys hartikienen is just a regular top 4 d man with top 4 d potential you always see than in the draft he is not going to be special just go for them gems an you really need to scout so you can find more gems next year
For a future franchise mode You should relocate a team in need like Arizona or something complete rebrand but you still have their players and you could go for the cup
Idea for the next franchise mode, whenever that maybe.... Bring back a legend from each NHL team all forwards and defensemen, no goalies (kinda a waste of a player imo). Make them a 90 and a Med Franchise potential, ages could vary between 20-22, some players will grow higher than others. For example, CBJs legend could be Rick Nash. If the player is already in the game like Gretzky, just edit his player so we can have his face, just for fun. But I like this series and should keep it going!
I would be careful about bringing Alexander Wennberg back. He’s a medium top 6 forward, so he’s not gonna stay at 87 overall. Paying a guy who’s probably gonna drop anyway over $7 million would come back to bite you hard in the future when you do start struggling for cap and his contract becomes untradable.
Mario Gretzky should’ve been number 69. Not because it’s funny, but Mario and Wayne’s numbers together. Plus Mario (6) then Gretzky (9). Just my 2 cents
Upload schedule would be cool to implement. Not sure if you have one. Another idea, is having the capitals logo to me. People might see that and think its a Capitals franchise. Just 2 thoughts. I have watched for many years. Its not you that I am losing interest in, to me, its the franchise of NHL hockey from EA. Nothing new from them, they are killing this.
Maybe after the offseason, a look around the league? Also, maybe turn injuries on, might spice things up. I know it is annoying. I think maybe there is a lack of random generated players??? And that is causing a bit of disconnect. I wish there was a way to turn chemistry off.
i'd like to see some sort of a "coach mode" where you let the A.I handle all of the signings, trades, draft picks, trade block, roster moves, etc. and you only change the lines but you get to veto trades or pick a player you want in the draft if you make the playoffs or have other success(1 veto for playoffs, 1 for each round you win, 1 for the presidents trophy.
Hey Xtech, im reposting this comment because you asked for it, I absolutely love the Gm series. But I have a suggestion to make for your futures gm modes series. I think that you could change some things. Traditionnally, you always draft a created goalie who has an insane overall and potential. I think it would be way more fun to have a challenge and try to develop a random generated goaltender and have a challenge to keep a great first goalie or a tandem at the same time. Also, I think that it would be refreshing to not have a created franchise player because its always the same and leaves no challenge (like Konrad, Agent C, Zion, Pox)because all the created players sims pretty much all the same. I think it would be way more fun to leave the created players to the a.i. and try to build your team and compete against them. After all its just my suggestion and im not hating i love the series!
In my opinion the reason I can’t really get into it all that much is every series seems to be a rebuild that becomes well not a rebuild and by year two you’re in the playoffs. I guess I’m just craving something more realistic where you really gotta grind it out 3-5 years to get a solid team completely building through the draft. I love the rebuild stuff and we haven’t really had a series in 3 years that was a true genuine rebuild expansion, starting with the bare minimum.
I think Newfoundland being such a dumpster fire is hurting the series. There's no real big rivalry. Still enjoying it, but definitely feels like something is missing.
Right now your team is like Minnesota, always decent but can never win the cup, you either need to do a big flop or trade for a younger stud personality i think it should be bedard or michkov but whoever you want
Xtech When you go into the simulation it seems like chemistry does not go into account. So when the playoffs come around, when you start slow simming just screw chemistry
A bit out there, but I want to see you bring in Tyler Toffoli even if its just for a season. I think he would be a fun player for the series and a good middle-bottom 6 forward.
I have an Idea, a series where you try to get a great team and make them bad, like you make the Lightening a rebuilder and try to make them a contender again in like 5 seasons maybe?
I think a fun idea is you leave ownership on (turn it on auto otherwise it gets annoying). You start with either Arizona or Florida but create an expansion team in Seattle. Your goal is to blow the team up and move them and rebuild them into a playoff contender before your contract expires. Once your contract expires, sign somewhere else and repeat. See how many teams you can get to the playoffs or even win the cup with. Also, no trading for players you previously drafted
Xtech idk if you really play hut anymore. But like your old pack attack videos were gold loved them you should think about doing something like that again
This is my absolute favourite GM mode series on RU-vid, you make NHL 21 so much more enjoyable than it really is. Please continue this series for many more years. I wish you uploaded it more, please do not begin doing it less! You’re amazing xTech, people are going to hate, EA just did a poor job. There’s nothing you’re doing wrong, you’re great as always Brent. Keep it up, your loyal viewers will stay. The people who’ve been watching for years love the custom franchise modes, you make the most interesting GM mode on RU-vid without a doubt in my mind.
Wheeler at 83 OVR is listed as Depth Forward(?) Um....sure. But EA, you have players 79 OVR listed as 3rd liners. Probably something to do with his age. Also, I have noticed in Free Agency older forwards still want a lot of money with Top 9 or Bottom 6 potential. The AI doesn't seem to recognize their OVR and/or potential drops and just assumes they are still their original OVR and potential. EA really needs to fix that and some of the outrageous contract demands. If players/their agents asked for that in real life, the GMs would laugh at them.
BREAKING NEWS: Alaska Ice Eagles forward Zion Bertuzzi had a verbal confrontation with The Eagles GM , about him name dropping Hedman as the future captain. I don't think a trade or firing will be made, But as we've seen before the Eagles will usually entertain offers that come their way and if they want to win they will do what's needed to win. #ALSKDrama
I think you need a #1 center next season to play with zion next season. Wright probably won't be at the level of a first line Center. If you get a proper 1st line C, you can most Wright down to line to to help him grow better. This means you could.movw on from Wennberg Id give Biggie Schmaltz another season as your 3rd line C and see how he does. Maybe pick up another 3-4 place D man, ypur bottom 6 was really weak I find, maybe the overall jump will fix that. As for the lack of interest in others. I read some of the comments and I can agree with some of them. Like someone else said, the 40-50 created players are breaking the game/making it easier. I personally love how you created the two teams and replaced existing NHL teams and put everyone from them in free agency. I do wish, however, that you and the Growlers we in the same conference for more games.
Hey xTexh, I'm not usually one for commenting, but wanted to let you know that I love this series (maybe I'm biased since I'm from Newfoundland), I mean with players like Hedman, Zion, and McMuffin come on ... What's not to love. I started watching your channel last year with the Shanghai series, absolutely loved that as well, and would love to see something like that again. But please continue this series, I always look forward to getting notifications for your videos.
For me, it's the created players. You've done so many created players that you've saturated the roster pool. Every team has so much depth that it's hard to have everyone shine. I felt it was better before when the amount of overpowered created players was closer to reality with 1 or 2 every 5 - 10 years at best. Now every team has 1 or more (or in NYR case many more) Tavares type players who could be #1 on teams depth charts and drafts. Also, while I love me my Agent C and Felix Pox, I think it's time to retire them and bring them back on special occasions. We need time to find new players to love + hate. The game is also taking line chemistry into account and not utilizing players properly ie Bolt on the 3rd line. While I am still as invested, I don't feel as excited to know what happens next even though there are still surprised like Horvat going for 115(?) points.
Hey xtech I don’t usually comment but I’ve been watching your vids since Winnipeg in nhl 17 and with the talks of people not being “as invested” as they were with the storm bears and Quebec which I feel similar with as well. I still never miss an episode but it’s definitely not as exciting or entertaining. But it’s nothing on your part I’ve found myself very disinterested in franchise mode myself. This game is so stupid the way it sims and the chemistry makes no sense. The only thing I’m not a huge fan of on your part is making some of those “unrealistic trades” and not sticking with your free agent signing (Tolvanen) but all and all it’s just a bad game. Just cause I have some criticisms I still wanna see this series go 10-12 years and I’ll be here for every video.
I'm loving the franchise! I have a lot of fun doing franchise sims myself so seeing what you do and seeing the comments from all the assistant GMs give me ideas for my own games. I think a big problem is the chemistry system needs work. It was a good idea but it's so strict and limiting that you kind of need to trade and chase those +3s and +5s to compete well instead of growing players into those +s. Your Buffalo franchise really inspired me to do a similar one with Ottawa and just like you really latched onto Eichel and Dahlin I've found players to really grab onto and win the cup for too. That might be part of the problem here: you just don't seem to have the same excitement for Zion and Wright that you did with Eichel and Dahlin, though McMuffin is really fun to root for. Maybe bringing in a real-world struggling superstar or an aging vet in his last 5 seasons that you really want to win that cup for would help add passion and excitement?
Brent the views aren’t down because of you, they’re down because the game is dog shit. There is no obsession with chemistry, Franchise mode is garbage because it so heavily depends on those +5s. I literally did not win a cup last year in franchise mode because of chemistry, and i’m talking all 84s on the fourth line. This series is really entertaining and it actually manages to turn this god forsaken game into something we can all enjoy. It sucks that EA refuses to put a good product on the market, because it hurts people like you. Hopefully they come out with something acceptable next year, but i’ll be watching regardless
It’s because of the created players in mass bulk, I think you should just make the prospects EA doesn’t have rights to that are on teams irl like college players who haven’t signed, KHL players etc. Honestly a team that needs a rebuild or needs playoffs like Minnesota, islanders, Columbus, Anaheim or maybe even the rangers, great upcoming team but the cap is going to make it real challenging. Just a future reference for future videos, big fan of the channel tho, you do you or whatever you think is most fun.
With regards to a new series, i think you should add the ‘kraken’ in as best you can and take control of Ottawa, seeing as they are doing so well, and take a more realistic approach to trades and signings e.g. you can only trade for players ‘on the bloc’ and for big name signings you have to pay over the odds for them. You could perhaps move the franchise if you dont make the ploffs within 3-4 years. Just an idea. Dont mind this current series, but im not clicking on it as soon as i see it, unlike previous ones. Perhaps consider knocking down the superstars draft wise to high 70 overalls Cheers
I like this series so far, but I do have one suggestion. I have seen the concept of "Draft Only" where you aren't allowed to trade or sign free agents and only build a team through the draft... but I have never seen a series where it's "Trade Only" or "Sign Only". Trade Only would of course mean that you are only allowed to build a team through trades. Pick a team, and immediately get to work trading out ever single piece for a whole new team. This is a bit easier, since you still have all the value of your draft picks to work with, you just have to make sure that every pick is traded out before you have to make a selection with it. And you also aren't allowed to resign anyone. This mode is kind of fun because it's like the stock market, you have to keep tabs on players value throughout the year to try and cash out when it's high. If you really want a challenge, do the "Sign Only" challenge where you have to build a team completely through free agency. This challenge is fun, but it is suuuuper difficult. The way that I handle draft picks is that you are allowed to make picks, but you can't sign them, you have to let them go to free agency. I find that it adds more drama to see who you could have had, but can't use, and then follow them as they end up on a potential rival team. And of course, you are allowed to use draft picks in offer sheets as well. Just a couple of suggestions that I don't ever see get used. They are probably only viable for at most 5 seasons, each, but I've had fun challenging myself with them.
I'll admit I haven't been into the series either, still watch but just not as into it. This is just me but it does feel like a re-run, created team, a bunch of OP created players. I want to see you do a regular franchise mode with no created players. I want to see what you can do with no help and only what the game provides. I get adding players who are real and have been drafted but these OP guys you're adding to every team feels like it's taking away from the experience. Again this is all just me, to each their own and I will still toon in to see the Ice Eagles try and bring home the Cup.
I think besides the chemistry and the other things, I think it’s this quick turn around to the playoffs. Myself and possibly others want to see a more realistic rebuild where there might be struggles throughout the first couples of years and then after that being success because of multiple stars. I know some people want to see a cup after 3-4 years but even with Vegas IRL, is it the truth.
Unless you play Jordan Greenway on the 4th line you should consider trading him away, he’s useless he was on pace for 11-12pts on the 3rd line this year which is honestly terrible, ik you love the man but maybe you should try and get someone that can get to 25-35 pts on the 3rd at least

I'm a fan of the series, def feel the lower interest than previous ones. I'm loving the all trades accepted and I'd be interested to see a series of that where you go multiple years accepting all trades, maybe set in place 1 player/2 trades per year you can veto. Like I said still a fan but NHL 21 is just meh in general.
Nhl 21’s chemistry system is so weird and sometimes very frustrating but hey atleast we don’t have to use Action points or AP like in nba 2k20’s franchise game mode

Simulation in this game is so bad. I was rebuilding the ducks and trading most of the old players in the first season and still ending up making the playoffs. In a senators franchise with a 95 offense and 90 defense I just barely make the playoffs
I get some of the feedback, but I really dig this series, my only note is the uniforms, they aren’t as well done as the Stags, and Storm Bears. As a graphic designer it throws me but I still get into it and have caught all the episodes so far!
I think all of the created players take some of the shine off really special prospects. I would like to see a Franchise without all the added players. Bringing back some of the channel legends is cool, but allowing some fresh new legends to make their name would be great. Also the chemistry tool is good for getting the most out of the roster you put together, but I dont think it should dictate how the roster is put together. Go get the best players available and dont be afraid of cheesing the system if the opportunity presents itself.
