My best advice is if they are setup wide (one at each post) play shot first and foremost. anything passed across is on the D. as you get more experienced, you can read the offense as well as your defense. if the play allows you, hug the post and immediately let go, this sets you up for the short side (your responsibility) don't start moving as he dekes and only go across IF he passes. Holding down speed burst really helps here.

The way it was explained to me was they're not multipliers. can't take similar traits and hope they turn into a super trait. They will go off independently and if they do different things, they will still operate. X-ray will boost vision if you're screened, and light work will work if the shot is a high blocker/ glove.

most people it's fear. They see everyone using hybrid and just go with it. I've used stand up but definitely not consistent enough to say much. I have heard good things about gold x-ray on that build.

@@knights2984 I am very new to EASHL and even newer to goalie on the game mode (i'm a goalie in real life though so i know how to position myself and such...). So my problem right now is figuring out essentially what's true when it comes to builds and attributes. most people say vision and recovery is by far the most important attributes. so far so good. but rebound being so low (low 80s) i've found i give a lot of bad rebounds which the opposition finds on their stick and then puts into the net. on tipper shots from far away, i'm golden. very few go past me and butterfly effect silver ability surprisingly covers most of the low shot deficiencies. my biggest problem have been the rebounds, which have now made me re-think using stand-up build as OP as vision and X-ray is. People saying rebound attribute isn't important just isn't true for me. but maybe it's something i am doing that is causing these and not a low rebound attribute. can you shed some light on what that might be? I'll be trying your builds for Hybrid and butterfly. I think Butterfly is really more my playstyle (based on my real life playstyle sort of). any tips appreciated! :)

Stand up is tough for rebound control. I've actually beefed up my rebound control a little bit, I think I'm at 87 or 88 for my hybrid. It's given me better animations to cover the puck quicker. I don't always notice a difference on my guy catching or dropping rebounds but I do notice the higher my rebound, the faster I try to cover it. When I'm using perks, I still look at what is required to use the perk. I think that's what it boosts. I also think certain perks work better together or on certain builds. some builds I won't change anything but 1 perk and the build seems off, stuff seems to go through me. I change it back to what I was using and I'm fine. I don't know, as you know, goalie is a very mental position and you always think you should stop it.

​@@knights2984yeah whats funny is after this comment i started using a butterfly build. I cant remember right now which one but i think it has 95 rebound 🤣 it helps quite a bit. Like you say the perks are supposed to boost the attribute that is required but sponge seems to do no difference. I tested dialed in when i played 6s and i had 27 shots against, 3 GA and I had some great saves which i think was helped by that perk. I dont think its worth using dialed in zone ability but as a silver it seems to be worth it in 6s. No timer doesnt seem to make much difference to me but post to post silver ability is a must for me now after testing it, after seeing your video. It is a bit funny how different people say different things and have different experiences. Theres no way of knowing exactly how the attributes truly work. For example i got my stand up build from a youtuber called Blackice and he has a long testing video where he shows that the low glove and low stick attributes control speed which makes no logical sense but he shows it. That is why the stand up build works so well even with 82 low glove and 82 low stick. My only problem was rebounds cause that attribute is at 80. I think high 80s is where i want it to be but i will be doing more testing.

Yea, blackice and emailbacon are 2 guys with a lot of content. Some of them are conspiracy theories but that's pretty much what EA gives because there's no real explanation from them at all. It's why I spent my year trying to teach positioning and reading and did minimal stuff on builds and how they work. It all comes down to preference on how you play. I change my build and my stance a lot to see differences but always end up back to the same build in the end.
