The guy asking Reinhart about his despicable LACK of a back check, was actually a valid question. Probably the only legitimate question in this montage.
@@DeltaHighlights Meh. I don’t have a problem with him pressing the issue. Reinhart was clearly embarrassed and trying to avoid the topic. I don’t think it’s unreasonable for the media to try to hold a guy accountable.
@@romandoo He is an NHL player. A public figure. You show lack of effort like that when the fans are paying you millions, the fans would like to know that answer. Doesn't matter if he is a coach or not. He is asking the questions for the public. You want millions to play a child's game? Learn to deal with these questions and don't take plays off on 2-1 breaks.
The media and the fans comparing McDavid to Matthews like it matters is really annoying. McDavid is only worrying about being the captain of the Oilers and winning hockey games
there could have been a point to that question, like "does seeing other people do that increase your drive to be more competitive?" or another question along those lines but the way it was asked, the guy was essentially asking if he was a fan of Matthews or something lol
Matthews isn't in the same stratosphere as McDavid.. anyone who would take Matthews of McDavid is either, blind, dumb, or a leaf fan.. and sometimes those last two things go hand in hand..
She was probably racist. You could tell from the audio that she was being short with him, For no reason really as he was only nicer than nice. Poor guy.
@@ryanduray1 What's possibly even worse is the 30-second pre-game chat when the reporter goes down to ice level to grab a guy and ask him 2 or 3 stupid meaningless questions during warmups literally on the ice surface/end of the bench.
Pulled out the thesaurus I see. Well, two can play at that game. Although I find validity within the crux of your claim, I often regard interview questions as a means of gathering a deeper sense of the player, not just as an athlete, but an individual. Good day to you sir.
@@DeltaHighlights If you do a part 3 you’ve gotta add the Gerard Gallant one from a couple weeks ago about Alexis Lafreniere’s play as of late. He back sasses her with come on Molly, what do you think. And All of Larry Brookes comments to John Torts and Ryan Reaves this season. Especially from Tuesday night
Yeah in that clip the reporter was just doing his job. They’re supposed to hold players to a high standard like that, and it’s not acceptable to put no effort into backchecking in the nhl
@@LazerUnicorn7 owning up to mistakes is the number one best thing you can do to improve. They're making millions of dollars in the NHL and the least they can do is answer a simple question from a reporter.
@@CoolGorillaGoAnimate7000Really? Larry Brooks was asking smart questions or just trying to antagonize Torts? Brooks actually seems like a nice guy but let's be real.
What happened to that interview with patty kane where the reporter asked if his goal that night was his first Overtime game winner (the interview happened around 2012ish, well after he scored a Stanley cup winning overtime goal)
@steven cooke How would you feel if someone compares you to another person, it's kinda like saying " be more like you're brother or sister," that's what that sounds like, it's not respectful
You should do a part two. I can think of such a dumb interview with Koskinen before this season started. This one reporter for the oilers is just such a jerk sometimes Edit- if you need me to link the video I’m talking about I can
@@DeltaHighlights ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z5O8FhOdyww.html There you go. This one interviewer is just such an idiot, and it’s not just this interview that he’s like this, this is just the worst one I’ve seen.
The Sam Reinhart question wasn't a dumb question, he did give up on that backcheck. If he didn't, he would have just said "no, I tried my best there" but instead he got all offended, and didn't know what to say - what everyone will do when they're caught like that.
My first thought when “setting up the play” lady started talking is that she was just a fill-in reporter and didn’t know hockey. Then I thought maybe English wasn’t her first language. By the end I was convinced some alien parasite had just taken over her body and this was their first attempt at interacting with another human.
That's just a typical Canadian gatekeeper. They pull that shit with American players as well. They think it's impressive that they produce good hockey players when that's the only legitimate sport they have. If they lose to America in 2026 it will be devastating to them.
@@politicalbandwagon4989 That question didn't come out of nowhere. He's just echoing the comical Canadian mentality when it comes to hockey. No, it will be devastating because the gap is closing and Bettman doesn't even promote the game at all in America. Imagine if he did. Bill Foley just said just said there was only 500 kids in Vegas playing hockey when he got there. How pathetic is that? But we have to constantly hear about how Bettman is conspiring against Canada lol.
@@mr.brenman2132 The gap is closing? Who won three of the last 4 world juniors or the last 3 best on best tournaments? Canada. The U.S hasn’t won an Olympic gold since 1980. Dustin Brown is currently the only American nhl captain to hoist the Stanley cup. The USA is barely top 5 hockey countries in the world. I’d say they’re tied with Sweden at 4 or 5. Also, how does Bettman not promote the game in the US? Florida has two hockey teams, California has three and even Nevada and Arizona have teams. He’s doing more than enough to spread hockey to the US. Your comment is especially stupid since Petterson plays for a Canadian team and is beloved by the fans. Those same fans who loved other Swedes like the Sedins and Naslund. No one cares that they’re not Canadian.
@@politicalbandwagon4989 Thanks for proving every point I've made so far. You could be a reporter in the video. There is a chance Canada would have lost in 2022 if NHL players played. Canada barely won in 2010 despite having a massive talent advantage. The number of Canadian players has decreased since then and American talent has increased substantially. 4 or 5 😆🤣. Yeah, it was the "Golden Goal" because Canada beat the fifth best team. Give me a fucking break. Who were the point leaders on the two finalists this year? Eichel should have won the Conn Smythe. Here you come with the archaic nonsensical canuck cope. American players can't lead right? Is that what you're implying? Yeah, the 2009 Penguins won the cup because a 22 year old Sidney Crosby was the Captain 😆🤣. It wasn't because the more experienced and physical Malkin scored 36 points and won the Conn Smythe. Phil Kessel outscored Crosby in the 2016 playoffs because of Crosby? Patrick Kane couldn't have scored that Cup winning goal without Jonathan Toews leadership lol. Everyone knows he was the generational player that carried the Blackhawks dynasty🤣😆. His leadership mattered so much that the Blackhawks won 3 cups in 5 years while he basically ignored one of his teammates being sexually assaulted by a video coordinator. You're making solid points here 🤦♂️. Collecting expansion fee's isn't spreading the game. The Athletic just cut their Hockey division because hockey is isolated to cities that have teams. That shows you how well Bettman has marketed the game. Snoop Dog and now Dana White have come out and said that the NHL is horrible at marketing. McDavid is the best player in the NHL and no one outside of Canada knows who he is. If the NFL, MLB, and NBA didn't exist America would dwarf Canada in Hockey. It's a matter of population size. Hockey is all Canada has.
I thought someone was gonna make a video completion after Matthews response to being asked if he wanted to score or it felt good to score the OT winner after he missed a breakaway earlier😂
It's not because the answer is obvious so its not worth his time to even acknowledge it. it's basically the same as the Draisaitl one and i think sarcasm and refusal are both defferent yet appropriate ways of handling such dumb questions
