Ian Cole scored the game-winner in overtime as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the New York Rangers 2-1 in Game 1 of their best-of-seven Stanley Cup Playoff series.
man, after watching the Canes vs Bruins for so long I had forgotten what clean hockey looked like both teams were great, refs were great, clean hockey from two teams at the top of the league
@@velipulla3936 not actively trying to injure our players with dirty hits go watch the Bruins v Canes series man, filled with all sorts of Charging and Targeting that simply were not called. Raanta was out for almost two full games cause he got sucker punched in the throat hard enough to draw blood. Bruins fans were all "it was accidental contact" Raanta was punched in the jugular through a neck guard, how do you do that on accident?
@@TheJetsfan1001 Did you watch the game? Or did you only listen to the media surrounding it? Because it sounds like you only listened to what big NHL media wants you to believe. It's not easy to become sane.
@@TheJetsfan1001 Many times that is true, but not tonight. That booing wasn’t Rangers fans. There weren’t nearly as many in house as normal. Earlier this season there was a few inches of snow in Raleigh & only Rangers fans & a few transplant Canes fans showed up. It was practically a Rangers home game🤣Boston & Pens games are like that, too, here sometimes. But tonight was the most Canes fans night I’ve ever seen vs NYR. The broadcasters mistook Canes fans booing after they saw the replay because they wanted a penalty on that clean hit on Jarvy. Cheers
PNC Arena is honestly so incredibly loud it is mind blowing. Been going since 02’ but the energy in that place is still is so jaw dropping. Unreal game!! Go Canes!!!
Finally someone from Rangers side give some props. All of these other idiots here just trolling and talkin out from their ass. Very intense game and that's what I love. -Panthers fan.
theres a reason the canes were the best third period team in the nhl in the reg season. they wear you down and can adjust like no other. that said, i was shitting my pants the last 3 mins of regulation. great game by both teams. should be a great series!
@@paiger533 i agree with you there. NY looked tired in the last half of the third and the canes slowed down just a touch to actually catch passes and make something of it.
@@paiger533 that Canes goal at the end of the third was total luck. The dude literally caught a rebounded puck and nobody boxed him out..that shen we needed Trouba to knock his ass out. The overtime goal was a one timer which always has a chance of going into the net.
It's amazing to watch both teams play. Worthy of a final. Two technical and fast teams without dirt and meanness in the game. The pinnacle of sports! I root for both teams and it's a double pleasure to watch.
They soft.. Honestly Shesterkin is either Patrick Roy or Patrick from spongebob.. the Pens dropped the house on him! Also their top lines are hit or miss. Panarin is all offense, Zibanijad only shows up when its convenient.. the Canes in 5
@@timothyehrler4325 - that will be the Rangers loss. The Rangers can afford whatever they want to afford. There are always ways to make things happen. Top defensemen are one of the cornerstones to a championship franchise. If the Rangers don't have sense enough to pay the guy, then it will be another team's gain. I agree with you, they likely won't make the commitment to pay him, and if they don't, he needs to leave - making sure he goes to a playoff franchise. Young careers often get destroyed playing on losing teams, so you don't want to hitch your career to a loser.
mmhmm, you're not from NC are you? Some drunk Rags boomer tried to fight me leaving the arena, I didn't want to lay the old man out and catch a charge, but that's about as much "respect" as I'll give to the enemy.
Canes definitely didn't look like the better team after two. Ranta proving himself against his old team. Terribly unfortunate tip in ot, but there's a clear lesson there. Feels good for a player who rarely scores to make such an impact. Canes need to defend home ice if they want to win the series. One loss at home and they can be in some trouble.
@@ordosdune9717 с удачей у него все хорошо, противоположные ворота хлеще обстучали, вот у людей которые в пустые ворота не попадают помимо удачи ещё мастерство явно хромает.
He finally looked like regular season Shestyorkin.. the games in Pittsburgh really rattled him, it looked like he finally settled in then he loses the game on a redirect off his teammates stick.. wow
Carolina has an underrated defense. Nedeljkovic won the Calder last season and Freddie will be a Vezina finalist, who is currently outplaying the Vezina favorite. Seriously, most people's initial reaction to the Carolina trade for Freddie was that Carolina was making a risky move. I don't believe Canes fans are regretting losing Ned in favor of Freddie. I feel for Leafs fans. Freddie, Kadri, Hyman, Bozak, Mason Marchment, and Barrie are still playing.
Nah, healthy scratch. We just have defenseman better suited to play in the playoffs, like Brendan smith, who is currently slotted in bears position in the playoffs
Lmao insane Change of direction on the OT goal. I’m a rangers fan and I think they will lose this series in a similar fashion to how they lost to the kings , where only watching the games would tell you how close the teams were , even if it ends 4 games to one
Carolina’s lack of size I worry may cost them if this goes 6-7 games. A guy like Hakanpaa could’ve acted as a counterpunch to Miller, Nemeth and the big NY rearguards, taking liberties on Ranger forwards whenever Rangers D take them on Carolina forwards. Beyond Smith, who’s more heart than hurt, I worry this could be an Achille’s Heel. Hope not though. Way to pull the win out there boys! Love seeing Tony D begin yo get some measure of revenge on the front office of NY as well.
Hakanpaa was a non-factor last year for us. I remember when we got him and I didn't like the trade cause I had started really liking Haydn Fleury. Hakanpaa is a big guy but he just didn't do crap for us. Joel Edmundson is somebody I sometimes wish we still had, but Smith-Cole has been a solid physical 3rd pair
As always they talk the most and cry like a baby when things dont go their way, been there multiple times w rangers fans and boy do i love messing w them
@@johnblze667 You were crying like a little girl all through the Rangers series. And you still are! Pens are out. Lost a 3-1 series lead to the Rangers. Embrace it.
That’s what happens when you don’t take your chances... we should’ve been 3 or 4 up at the end of the first but weren’t. We didn’t deserve to lose the game on general play, I felt we were much better than Carolina. Canes should definitely be buying Raanta a beer after that, he was the sole reason they still had a chance. Onto the next game now LGR
@@TheYamahog12 Game 7 against Pittsburgh the Rangers tied it late and won in overtime.. the next game the Rangers lost the lead late and lost in overtime.. its funny how these things play out

Losing game 1, not a big deal, can't have a 7 game series if the Rangers win every time. The BoA is the series everyone is watching, even in the East they're staying up well past their bedtime. This could be a good series but they need to develop a hate-on for each other, Canes/Rangers don't have a major rivalry like Flames/Oilers or even Panthers/Bolts.
Let's Go Canes for the 2nd Stanley Cup cuz i hate Krieder for had injured Price in plyoffs some days so i live in 🇨🇦 and My Heart Will Go On with Edmonton who have lost 9-6 vs Cgy.Sick goalies games folks🤣😂
Lol. Pens exposed the rags. Canes are too fast. They played a terrible game and still won 🤣 If they start throwing shots at that overrated goalie the way the pens did he will Crack like an egg, just like last series. Yall only won because the Pens are old. You got outshot and outplayed the majority of that series and was up against an AHL goalie lmao
