Connor McDavid had an assist and a highlight-reel goal and Mike Smith had a 29-save shutout as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Los Angeles Kings 2-0 in Game 7 and advanced to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Oilers lifer here. Massive game and LA proved once again that the playoffs are next level and no team making it in should be taken lightly. Congratulations to LA for an incredible series right down to the wire. Quick and Brown, legends of the game we salute you. Both teams were warriors tonight, nerves are shot, but McDavid and the OIL dug DEEP !!!!!
Montreal proved that last year. Almost everyone thought that they didn't deserve to be there and would get blown out in each round. Yup, McDavid was on a mission tonight and the previous game. Hopefully they keep it going into the next round. Battle of Alberta would be interesting, but I think that they have a better chance against Dallas.
Kings fan here. A fantastic series and I was really impressed with the Oilers shutdown effort tonight. They got it done when they needed to. Best of luck in the next round. Connor McDavid is just a special once in a generation player. He deserves a Cup.
Remember game 5 when Kings fans were throwing every insult possible at McDavid? Well he's leading the league in points and moving on to the second round lol.
All the boys clicking. Archie with a heart two sizes too big. Kane with passion. McDavid not taking no for an answer. Smith with Benjamin button symptoms.
I found kassian to be terrible all series. Coughed the puck up at the blue line more than anyone else. He is a plug. Gotta dump his cap in the off season.
As a hockey neutral, that series was some of the absolute best hockey I've ever seen! Both goaltenders stood on their heads and gave everything! Great to watch, let's go Oilers!
@@innercityprepper I absolutely can say that. I've always enjoyed watching hockey played well. This was an outstanding game, and series. Both teams gave their all. I remain neutral, I loved seeing the Panthers beat the Caps, but also loved seeing Ovi hit his milestones. Hockey is an incredible sport, one I was lucky to play for a year. Hell, while I was in New York for Wrestlemania in 2019, I went to see the Devils vs Rangers game at the Prudential Center, then a few nights later was in MSG for Rangers vs Senators!
@@WanderingCanadian1 kinda! Tbh I've just been loving the way the Oilers have played hockey. There's players I love watching, like McDavid, Draisaitl, Mike Smith, Kane etc. Hockey has always been a passion of mine. I watched Tales of the Mouse Hockey League when I was a little boy, and fell in love with hockey from that moment!
Oilers fan here who lives in LA....Surprised to see how popular the Kings are down here in SoCal. They played a good series and gave Oilers a run for their money! Mike Smith made some big saves and Quick was incredible as well!
Kings fan here. Just an amazing performance by the Oilers tonight. They stepped up and shut us down when they needed to. Quick made some amazing saves to keep it close but the Oilers constant pressure was too intense. Best of luck in the next round. I’m hoping for the Battle of Alberta! Connor McDavid is a a special once in a generation player and deserves a Cup!
Am still wondering what the heck the Jets were thinking a few years ago when they traded him to San Jose, they also did a similar move in trading Laine, just curious decision after another akin to the Habs firing their GM after a Stanley cup final only to miss the playoffs entirely.
What? Kane? I'm happy the Oilers got past the first round, but I hope they don't win the cup because of having Kane. F that guy at the expense of the Oilers. Get rid of him and all that changes for me.
@@That90sShow imagine taking time and effort out of your life to make a troll account and comment on every oilers video. Must be a cow town fan 😂 #rent free
Uhh I mean the Maple Leafs lost in 7 in a close game to Tampa. Oilers barely won in 7 games against the second worst team in the playoffs. Speaking from a neutral POV here, I kinda feel like there's a little discrepancy there
Love Yamamoto. Not enough credit is given to this spitfire on ice. He’s super quick, always in the opponent’s face, always right at their door, and makes excellent critical passes to McDavid and Draitsaitl.
Well pretty happy oiler fan here and the only thing that could make me any happier is a god dam battle of Alberta! Can’t believe I’m going to typ this go flames go!
As a habs fans. Congrats oilers. Its nice to see a deserving Canadian team make it and seeing the most hated and arrogant Canadian team being eliminated in the same day. Gonna cheer for you guys.
Yall are rlly glad the leafs are gone? As an oilers fan I was cheering so frickin hard for them, ofc didn't expect much out of it. Just wanna see the cup brought back home to Canada man 🤦♀️
Habs fans have to be the most petty of all. Most Toronto fans were rooting for them in the finals last year, but you could never expect that kind of respect the other way. Needless to say, good to see a Canadian team do well
@@sosmiley9009 I don't think so. 90s show is dumber and less persistent, only hating specifically on the Oilers. KOODA is much more present and shits on everyone, especially the habs. Most of the time it involves some childish attempt at an insult that only displays their brain rot for everyone to see.
He has a rare ability that only the greatest athletes in history pocess, he elevates those around him to be better players. Hes a great leader and a great guy. Hes too good to be true.
@@OVI-Wan-Kenobi-8 If Edmonton doesn't win a cup the next few years, I agree with you. Just like Matthew's Mustache will leave the Leafs to go play golf in Arizona and pond hockey at the 5000 seat ASU.
I honestly teared up when McDavid put the game away. I’m not an oilers fan, but it’s been so long since they’ve been good. McDavid is the greatest ever.
Congrats Oilers. My Kings had no business being in that game 7. Only one who wanted to win and showed up was Quickie. That score should have been 4-0 or 5-0. But happy to see Brown go out on his shield. Got us two cups, and most likely a HOFer. Same going with Kopitar and Quick. It was a good era.
Brown may go down as one of the all time great captains for his leadership and winning attitude. Not an obvious skill player but that’s what makes his ability to captain Cup winning teams such a noteworthy achievement.
@@LuciD-bm1zo I agree to a point. Smyth never won the Cup. It’s a shame, if anyone deserved it, he did. But I would put Brown a hair above Smyth for captaining a Cup winning team. And he did it twice. That’s not a small feat and certainly worth noting if we’re comparing resumes.
Farewell to Dustin Brown, congrats on a great career. But HUGE congrats to McDavid and the oilers from a Canucks fan, really want to see the Battle of Alberta take place.
Congratulations Edmonton. Kings got some playoff experience. 11 first time playoff players and no DD or Ardvidson. Still managed to take a full strength Edmonton to 7. I'm proud of my boys..
Zach Hyman is in the second round!!! Such a hard working and dedicated player breaks through after not being able to get past the first round in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 with the Leafs.
@@gamma00crucis And look at the last couple games! He's exactly what the Leafs need right about now. The end of this contract may not look pretty but right now he's an absolute steal of a deal.
@@nos5822 Yes. My Bruins just lost to the Canes, so I now need a team to cheer for. Watching McDavid play and go beast mode a few times reminded me when I was a kid watching Orr, Gretzky, Lemieux or Jagr.
Mike Smith is streaky, and pitching a .938 in the playoffs, and that's after a ridiculous last 10 or so games of the regular season where he was above .940. Hopefully he keeps this up. As for McD, he even gave out the hit of the night. He's worth the price of admission even if you hate the Oilers. Just cheer for exciting hockey.
@@jasondashney I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still salty about 1988 lol. But I can't deny greatness and a generational talent. I will be rooting for the Oilers to take the Cup this year, but Colorado looks unbeatable in a 7 game series. Don't know how old you are, but my favorite player all time is Cam Neely. To date, the best all around player I ever witnessed. He would score a hat trick and then beat the crap out of the opposing teams goons
Well done Oilers ! 😎 Congrats to everyone for the incredible series! After game five, I said that the Oilers are still in this. Loved how much urgency the Oilers had. The challenges of the last seasons fuel them on. First time in the second round since 2017. At long last. Onwards!
I'm proud of my Kings. At least we made it to the playoffs. But I'm gonna miss Brownie. It was very fun watching you play. 23 to the rafters. One final time this season... GKG!
GG ( oilers fan). Both teams played good. We knew coming into the game that both our teams were very close but you have a better goalie. As it showed, it was too close to even predict. GG tho
You should be. They pushed the Oilers to the absolute limit and did that without Doughty and Arvidsson in the line--up. Lots of young talent. Believe me, the Los Angeles Kings have broken Oilers fan's hearts a couple times over the decades. We finally got our turn. I am sure we will be hearing from your Kings next year. Good series. Cheers!
They were actually two evenly matched teams. The Oilers only finished five points ahead in the regular season, so it wasn't a surprise to me that it was a close series. Oilers needed a big game from Smith to win it.
Why did this feel like winning the cup? Its been 5 tough years since we last won a playoff series. This team means everything to me and i am so excited for the 2nd round. LETS GO OILERS!!!
I remember when the Oilers finally beat Dallas with that amazing Dave by cujo and Todd "stone hands" Marchant break away goal. That felt like winning the cup too. Exercising demons always feels amazing. I remember the first time the Oilers won the cup. Literally the whole room wasn't really watching. Everyone figured it would be another Islanders win. After that you just expected the oilers to win every year. Those next 3 cups didn't have the same feel. The 5th was a good one because no one thought they could win without Gretzky. The best wins are the ones when the world doubts. Let's face it. Even many die hard oilers fans started to doubt when they went down in the series, given the last two playoffs. That's what makes the win so enjoyable.
just wish oilers would go back to their 80's at home jerseys, I always thought their jersey was one of the best back then, wow they looked dangerous this game
LETS GO OILERS! THIS WAS A STRESSFUL GAME BUT PROPS TO OUR DEFENCE AND SMITH! Good Game Kings! Was a fun series to have with you guys! I’m sorry to hear about Dustin Browns career but Doughty will be back next year to take care :) ❤
The Oilers look like they now know how to play playoff hockey. McDavid is playing at a whole new level that is going to be a nightmare no matter who they face & I say as a Habs fan it will be a joy to watch
I'm down to watch any greatness. I an Oilers fan and I hate the Leafs but I love to see Matthews and Marner make plays. Congrats on your lottery win. You may finally have your #1 centre.
Holy crap McDavid is so good. I’m not an oilers or kings fan, but I see my team fumble with the puck between their skates so often and McDavid just simply kicks it to his stick in one clean motion and burries it. So insanely skilled.
I'm not a fan either. But then I watched McDavid play a few games, and...now I follow the Oilers. lol He's single-handedly more enjoyable to watch than any full team currently in the NHL. It's crazy.
смотришь нхловский хоккей ,голова кругом ,какой теме,ураган. рубилово ,потрясающий хоккей. пешком никто не ходит,все устремлены к победе. любят в северной Америке его величество Хоккей.
This was truly epic. I'm so proud of the Oilers! Wowzers. Was nice that the refs let them play. Probably best officiating I have seen. Oilers had dominated the entire game!!! Second round baby!!
That is a legendary goal by McDavid, 4 chances for it to go wrong and stayed with it the whole way. As a Canucks fan don't like the Oilers but get chills hearing the crowd at the end. I hope they can keep it going.
Во второй серии нас уже ждёт битва за Флориду на востоке и теперь очень хочется посмотреть на битву за Альберту на западе. Это самый крутой плей-офф за последние 25 лет
Nobody mentioning the Oilers hitting game being top level and for me that starts with Archibald, he's relentless.ive waited a long time to see them play this kind of hockey
Never really payed attention to the Kings this year, but they showed up this series and played hard. I think they'll settle in and look much more dangerous in a couple of years. And to see Smith vs. Quick matchup brought back memories of the 2012 PHX/LA series. Outstanding goaltending on both ends. Let's hope Oilers can keep pushing on
Late but GG bud! Oilers are really fun to watch. Lots of oilers and kings fans were going at it over this series but I respect the Oilers and your fans. Seems like it’s only up from here for both teams
Woohoo!!! Oilers win game 7 and off they go to the second round of the NHL playoffs!!! This was an unbelievable game to watch and Ceci with the game and series winning goal in the second period!! And McDavid with the insurance goal late in the third!! Well, Toronto sadly lost in their game 7 , so one Canadian team out and another advances. Hopefully Calgary will win their game 7!
Man… Missing doughty and arvidson is pretty rough, but I think we did pretty good all things considered. We’re in the middle of the rebuild, and we ended up making to the playoffs. I’m so proud of our kings, but heartbroken at the same time. But we made it to game 7 even when we weren’t really supposed to be in the playoffs in the first place. So I’ll take it. Looking forward to next season for greater things to come. And also, goodbye brownie. We’ll miss you so much. 23
Nothing to be ashamed about, my friend. That was a hell of a series, your Kings fought hard until the very end, and you came very close to knocking us out. Great game 🤝
@@oilersrule9729 Thx for the kind words, and great sportsmanship! The Oilers were great this year 🤝 Good luck, and I’m looking forward to a possible battle of Alberta!
Awesome game, loved that the refs put there whistles away and just let them play, also nice that there wasn’t too much fowl play to be called to begin with
What a series! The kings are going to be a great team for years to come. Loved how smitty shut all the haters down. Mcregular season my ass! Let’s go oilers🔥🔥🔥
@@TomasHlavenkavlogs teams in rebuild mode don't make the playoffs. They also don't have their old core either. Once guys like Quick and Kopitar retire, then they'll be in rebuiId mode. Also, every team has prospects and farm teams. So, is the whole league rebuilding?
The Kings were a pleasant surprise. I thought after game 2 and game 3 the Kings were done. What a turnaround. I hope the Flames win tonight. The Battle of Alberta should be a great series. The Oilers will have to play every game with intensity from the first period on to beat a very good Flames team.
