Yup. Lots of teams have comparable forward rosters, but most of those do not have comparable netminding. That's the difference so far. This is awesome for a fan base that's had multiple years of dashed hopes.
The Canucks juggernaut continues. I'm sure the long suffering Canucks fans in Vancouver are waiting for the other shoe to drop thinking "Can this be real?"
As a lifelong Canucks fan, you are bang on. Not thinking about tomorrow or next week, just enjoying the now. Unbelievably strange start to the year with the Canucks absolutely on fire, while SC hopefuls like the Oilers are in complete meltdown. God help the coaching staff in Edmonton if they lose to San Jose tonight!
What we see is the result of a couple of seasons of trying to get there, reaching the playoffs. Canucks never had the consistency, but always had the will. With new better players to the roster and Tocchet's focus on it's consistency, you see stuff like this, a game they would otherwise lose if this was the previous season.
You can tell that Petey was mad at himself for tipping that one goal into his own net, and he turned all that angry engry into that last bullet of a slapshot.
Was thinking the same, probably his worst game so far, he did some crucial mistakes he usually does not do. Still managed 2 assists and 1 goal to even it out though.
@@karlkarlsson9126reminds me of Ovi. He sucked alot but could score alot. Also Petey does not suck. He is a great two way player too. Not just a top 5 frwd in the league. Not as föashy as Macdavid but better in own zone
They weren't robbed in 2011. They blew it. Scoring dried up when it mattered most. Up 3-1 with 2 of the remaining 3 games at home. True championship calibre teams don't lose those series. As far as 1994 goes, the only robbery was Nathan Lafayette hitting the crossbar. Lol. That was a great series,it was just unfortunate that the Canucks lost
@@alexandermacdougall7873 The officiating changed in 2011 and Canucks had way more injuries. A team that had the edge on the PP suddenly stopped getting PP chances. I think Marchand just kept punching Daniel in the head (didn't fight back) and BOTH got roughing penalties being the most notable example. Yes, injuries are part of the game, but it just so happened the Canucks had way way more. Hamhuis - out Samuelsson - out Malholtra - eye-injury, at max 20% efficiency Kesler - torn groin Edler - broken fingers Ehrhoff - dislocated shoulder Raymond - broken back Salo - groin Higgins - broken foot Alberts - undisclosed The injury situation got so bad, they were prepping Yann Sauve and Nolan Baumgartner for game action. Most people probably have to hockeyDB those two players. Both teams 100%, the Canucks would have won. But the blame is on them for not closing out the Hawks in 4.... probably would have made a difference in the long run.
I totally agree! Not only is he quick and accurate and funny, but his voice is calming and pleasant even when things get exciting. I can’t stand announcers that just yell. I could go on.. but it just makes me so happy that we get to have him in the booth for our games. Looking forward to Cheech on Saturday.
Man Pettersson isn’t being talked about enough with regards to this hot start for Vancouver…leading the league in points and it feels like he hasn’t even hit top gear yet
55 years for this old guy. My dad used to take me to Canuck games when they were in the WHL in the late 60s. Dad will be 86 in February. Sure would be nice if the Nucks won a Cup while he's able to enjoy it 🙏
Lots of good teams find ways to win even when they don't play their best games. I'll take an ugly road win all day long. Tocchet knows they didn't have their best game, and so do the players.
This is the second game in a row where I felt that the Canucks were outplayed for large stretches of the game yet still won. Sens were great defensively despite what the score says. They blocked shots, clogged up the d zone, active sticks, laid the body and didn't give much. Canucks just made use of every chance they were given and that was the difference this game.
feels like the canucks have been forcing shots and demko hasn't been letting soft ones in it must be by design seeing as canucks offensive potential is crazy right now i find it hard to completely agree with the outplayed assessment considering every time a canuck gets going on the puck the offense looks like a huge threat. i do know what you mean though
GGS Senators. Wow so let's start with some down right luck in the second. What a first period fastest goal this season is nice. All our goals where beautiful the one in the end of second by Miller beautiful. Now let's get to the goods third period that pp goal by Pette WOW. Desmith was real good tonight aswell. Love the confidence you have cutting down angles and playing the puck. We are looking better every game. GGGGGGOOOOOOOO CCCCCCCCCCAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCKKSSSSSSSSSSSSS💙💚💙💚💙💚
Hronik is what they hope Sandin Pellikka will turn into. The Canucks basically traded that pick for an already developed right shot D man, that the Wings hope Pellikka will turn into.
No. As much of a Canucks fan as I am, they are not "Canada's team". Just ask fans of other teams. I am not a fan of fans of other teams calling their teams "Canada's team". I am just glad they are playing solid hockey.
No they haven't. The canucks will never be canada's team. They're Vancouver's (and BC's) team. The rest of canada can go f.... themselves for not supporting during the 11 run.
I gotta say, and this isn't a sentence I ever expected to say, but I think I'm a proper Canucks fan. Their play this year has been unreal. 1 team down, 2 more to go.
I can't believe the Canucks are doing this well thus far in the regular season! It's almost too good to be true! I'm hoping they might even be in with a chance to win their first Stanley Cup!
In my opinion it really was a half-ass effort, and I'm positive Tocchet felt the same. THAT part of the game worries me, cuz it's too much like last years cancer of LAME efforts. They got lucky tonight, but I will give them credit for staying JUST ENOUGH structured to come out on top, and DeSmith kept them it. Lame effort tho and I'm sure Tocchet will have a few words
They didnt get lucky bud... Good teams still find ways to win when they are playing bad. The canucks didnt play great tonight and still won 5-2. 5-2 isnt luck
they definitely weren't that sharp but it wasn't luck. They controlled the sens pretty well. Only a few of the Sens chances were really dangerous. Otherwise they kept them to the outside and DeSmith took care of what he should take care of.
lol it IS luck BUD...you think Tkachuk missing an open net was due to Canucks effort and skill?? If Tkachuk scores there 'nucks are down a goal and now they're scrambling, and could easily have gotten away from them. Delusional fans like you never want to see the truth, instead you keep your head stuck in dream-land@@brandonmoreau634
that's a ridiculous statement....halfway through the 3rd period they had 11 shots on net...that is unacceptable and pathetic, and I GUARANTEE Tocchet would agree with me. 7th game effort??? How about just a GOOD effort , tonight was garbage, and I bet even the players would agree@@mr.porkchop6377
After they got a 2-0 lead in the first, the Canucks played one of the worst periods of their season. They were awful in that first period, and yet they were up by a goal. A bit of luck and some good goal tending.
RIP Miller Bashers! Boeser and Myers are playing so responsibly well now. Having everyone on the same page in a system that none of the coaches ever provided in the past. They're so much fun to watch.
Another W, nut Tocchet is going to have words with the team. A bit of a lackluster showing and the ghosts of past bad habits were in the air tonight; they'll need to be sharper for the Loafs.
Even the Elite Top teams in the NHL are gonna have a handful of sloppy games where they don't excute the way they want to over an 80 plus game season....
Stop it. When Pettersson has put up 150 points in a season, then we can compare him to McDavid. He is more responsible defensively than McDavid, but he is not in McDavid's league offensively, when McDavid is healthy. Stop making us Canucks fans look like idiots.
Elias Pettersson and the Vancouver Canucks wins over Brady Tkachuk and the Ottawa Senators 🏒🔵⚪🟢🇨🇦 Vancouver Canucks improve to 10-2-1, while the Ottawa Senators dropped to 5-7-0
Typical Sens performance Rallied for a big win yesterday where they didn't look great only to have a strong offensive performance the next game on home ice where we totally outlay the opponent and have the worst goaltending in the league. Pathetic showing by Forsberg. Our playoff chances are pretty much done at this point
We can talk all we want about shooting percentage and it will go down But that just means this win would be 3-2 because the Canucks in their own end just did not give up high danger chances at all. 9-3 were the high danger chances and if i read the heat maps right The Sens didn't get a shot in the slot I'm starting to get faith O_O
everyone commenting on the fact the canucks got heavily outshot without making any recognition to the fact that the sens had like 20+ shot blocks.... Easily couldve got outshot by the Canucks like 35-40+ shots to the 25 or whatever the sens got. Not saying the sens were by far the worst team tonight but still feel like people are ignoring that stat
You are allowed to redirect a puck, I think that's the motion you see. Deliberately kicking a puck at that speed is like impossible. So I think the refs concluded that it was a redirection, but they probably was thinking it over.
Uhhh, we must be looking at different highlights. A kick requires that you’re swinging your foot towards the net in a sweeping motion that adds momentum to the puck.
@@karlkarlsson9126 watching it from the Pettersson angle, to me it's clearly a kick when I see the back heel and the way he follows through when it makes contact with puck.
@@joelface well that's a pretty accurate description for what I see him do from the Pettersson angle. He's definitely not just angling his foot for it to bounce off of. Just look at the follow through of his heel.
yeah gave him the night. He will play toronto then desmith will be back for montreal. Its so nice having a backup who can play games and do super well so we can rest demko. Riding demko for 65 games will not be sustainable so being able to have desmith play 25ish games will be big.
Let me try to decipher your comment. Sarcasm? You are suggesting that Canucks fans are counting the days to the playoffs just because they beat the Sens tonight? Is that your "joke"?
