One of the best Canucks games I've ever watched. Demko and DeSmith are really the defenders of this game. The fact that DeSmith helped the Canucks get a shutout victory after Demko had to leave for the remainder of this game was just, heartwarming. He made serious saves. He had the lessons taught from Mr. Demko. Incredible play from the Canucks, took no stupid penalties (with Boeser's being the only one unfortunately), great assists, skating, etc. On top of that, they shutout the Jets. Those jets were really on low fuel. We are off to a great start on the nine-game home stand. The Vancouver Canucks are BACK, BRUTAL, BADASS, and BLAZING!
Hoglander a beauty, 23 years old and starting to find his game 20 goals on the year all 5 on 5. So glad they didn't want to trade him in the deal for guentzel
@@AdmiralAdam100 yeah for sure Raymond had that hard forecheck too.he was a little faster than hoglander but they do play similar. Loved Raymond he was awesome
The Canes gave ALOT up for Guentzel But the Catch is it could turn into a Steal if the Canes do not make it to the Cup final (The first rounder becomes a Second rounder) and don't Win the cup (Canes keep the 5th round pick). I am just Glad we are giving Lindolm a Chance and not sending Hoglander away.
Fingers crossed Demko is ok. Canucks really shut things down when DeSmith went in net, only having to face a few shots. Also with Soucy in the lineup it stabilizes our defence.
@@Seriously_Unserious Zero chance they’re going to rest Myers. He’s undeniably better than Juulsen and he’s a right hand D. He’ll be back on the second pair when he returns.
@@decentish8546I'd be fine with resting Cole for a few games when Myers is back. He's had a couple games where he played somewhat poorly due to fatigue and high ice time
Leafs fan here, who also cheers for every Canadian team. I believe Vancouver has Canada's best chance at the Stanley cup this year. PLEASE bring the cup home to Canada!!! 🇨🇦 🇨🇦 🇨🇦
@@fecesd5g Be nice! They just need to clean up on their defense like both Vancouver and Edmonton. They have potential... Don't forget what the Canucks looked like last year!
Very noble and brave of you to announce yourself as a Leafs fan lol. Because I'm sure you know full well your team is crucified annually, even by many Canadians!
Cheers. Born and raised in BC myself so naturally I'm a Canucks fan. I'll be thrilled when any canadian team wins the cup. After the last few years I'm just happy to be excited about my team again. We'll certainly give it our all :)
Yes it was such a clean game overall. The season opener against the Oilers which they beat them 8-1 was also a pretty good one. Boeser scored 4 in that game 👍
@@DosBear You don't because you're stupid. An actual NHL coach does, because the one that played the first game, has a better chance of getting injured since they'd be fatigued.
The seasoning Hoglander did in the AHL is paying huge dividends this year - 20 goals, all scored 5-on-5. Imagine if the same would happen to Podkolzin - the Canucks would have two promising young players who can be a staple to the team for years to come... Hoping that Demko's injury is nothing serious... they need to do what they can to ensure that he is fresh for the playoffs too.
Canucks really needed that result. Great convincing victory but let's not lose sight of the fact that the Jets played last night and it showed. Nice to see DeSmith get the SO and fingers crossed that Demko is nothing serious. Canucks have always had trouble throughout recent years with Winnipeg so that was a relief. Next up, another team we haven't beaten yet this season. The only other team we haven't defeated this year is Philly? Not sure, but this 4 in a row definitely helps take the sting out of the earlier 1 W in 7 games mini slump. GoNukzGo!
Actually the Shutout is not Credited to Desmith or Demko. It's Considered a Team Shutout and it's the 3rd one in Canucks history The Previous ones happened in 2015 and 2011
See, fans of other teams would say that's no excuse to lose if you're shooting for the cup like Vancouver is when they at times had back to back games and would lose. They'd come in and shun them for being gassed and traveling for back to back games but then I see for other teams they're excused for blowout losses cuz they're tired. But yes, Jets look tired and their play was sloppy as a result of it, but not to take away from how well Vancouver played
This was the canucks firing on all cylinders, this game shows how seriously scary we are when everyone is feeling good! Everyone played fantastic tonight!
@9:09 you hear yelling at pettersson on the boards “Keep it going!” Even though the canucks are up 4-0 with 5 mins of hockey left, they’re still in full attack mode and it lead to suter scoring 😅
Truly would be amazing for the cursed finals to come to an end with this young talented team, and just in general to also silent the curse of no Canadian team to win the Cup is such a long time
canucks tendies did nothing jets come off a back to back to play canadas top team in canucks with 3 of our top scorers out and everyone being sick with the flu
For those wondering, this is a team shutout (3rd in Canucks history). A goalie must play the full game to record a personal shutout. As for W and L, the rule is that the goalie that was in net for the game winning goal for his team records a Win. Or alternatively, the goalie that was in net for the the game winning goal by the opposing team, records a Loss. Since Demko was in net for when JT Miller got the game winning goal (first goal of the game) Demko is awarded the W. The only way DeSmith would be rewarded the win tonight is if Winnipeg scored 5 goals but the Canucks won the game.
I want to see Podkolzin and Hoglander play together!!! Feel like they would compliment each others games, maybe with EP?? Try to get Lindholm going by sticking him with Miller and Brock for a while and keep that 3rd line together! That gives us and exciting 4th line with Suter and Lafferty hopefully getting something out of Mikheyev in some low pressure minutes!
Sweet! Complete and utter domination over one of the best teams in the league and domination over the defending cup champs. They've finally got that structure back that they had at the beginning of the year. That game wasn't even close. Hope Demko's injury isn't too serious, but honestly if the nucks have to ride DeSmith it doesn't worry me all that much. It's very important that the canucks maintain focus and keep with the discipline and the structure. In the playoffs any team can beat any other team in a seven game series. These games are important for one main reason. To establish psychological dominance over other teams. In terms of talent all the top teams are basically the same. The difference is commitment to structure and execution, and psychology. The canucks have to continue to play the Jets strong to the point where they question their ability to beat us. It's why that last Oiler game is going to be very important too. If the canucks lose it, it's not the end of the world but if the canucks can beat the Oilers, and preferable have a dominant win over them it could fundamentally break the Oilers again this season like the canucks broke them at the beginning of the year. At very minimum, it will establish a dominance over them that will be in their heads. Much like the Hawks had that over the 11 nucks and a series that should have been a sweep went seven games, and probably cost us the cup. If the canucks lose to the Oilers in that last game and then meet them in the playoffs it gives the Oil just that little bit of hope that they know they can beat them. So focus to finish out this season is key.
Statement win for the Canucks tonight as they absolutely TROUNCED & DOMINATED the Jets in every aspect of hockey... Speedy recovery to Demko... Hopefully his injury is nothing serious...
@@JDH_MUSIC Yeah, Canucks played well but Jets played very poorly. Demko was on fire. Jets missed a lot of passes and chances and lots of turn overs and not their usual top goal tending.
Demko and DeSmith weren't terribly busy tonight, but they were definitely sharp. I am gonna give Hellebuyck props as well. This game could have been far worse than 5-0!
Lowry was pretty tough when he ran around hitting smaller guys until Big Z was on the ice. By the way was Scheifele on a milk carton because he and Monahan were invisible.
Another Awesome game for the Nucks. So many things that clicked with the team working together like a well oiled machine all over the ice. When they are on like tonight they look like an absolute terror to play against. This is very exciting to see the team playing with that kind of pep and determination. By the way whos this Podkolzin dude from abbotsford getting called up looking like an absolute menace everytime hes out there playin with the boys? His skating, play making, defensive take aways... damn 😎 Just an all around pleasure and rush of emotions bringing back the feels of the 2011 era canucks. I hope Demko heals up well and the boys keep up the great work heading down the final stretch towards playoffs.
@@carletonrutherford1799 ur insane look at the jets schedule just got off a hard 2 game against seatle to play a back to back against top team in canucks with 3 of they're top players out and everyone sick.....
@@MrGettingHypedThe Canucks have played more games on the road than anyone in the NHL. They have had 2 long eastern road swings in the last month and a half. They have had beck to back games in different cities on the road. That was their first game back from a road trip. No one else can cry about their teams "tough" schedule. It might work if you were complaining to an eastern team, but it doesn't land when you are trying to complain to a Canucks fan.
What a Statement win! This Jets team is solid and good(off night) Now this is first of 9 straight home games for the Van Fans! Hope all is good w/Demko? Nice to see DeSmith earn a shutout! Great Game of many to come at home! GO CANUCKS!!
Its a simple plan, when Canucks play at 90%+ intensity they win and win good , when they drop below 90% they struggle and loose. If they want the cup it has to be 90-95% INTENSITY !!
A Shutout is only Credited when a Goalie stays in game from Start to Finish. When a Goalie Subs in and the Game ends in a Shutout it's considered a Team Shutout and neithier Goalie is awarded the Shutout. They don't happen often as it this is the 3rd one in Vancouvers history with the last one being in 2015 and 2011.
They didn't bones said that was the worst game they played sonce hes been there, dont expect the jets to be like this , they have a flu going around including helleybuck
2nd half of a back to back. Jets were tired and I say that as a Canucks fan. I still think Canucks just generally played better but maybe not a 5-0 trouncing like this.
@@alexmacdougall57002nd of back to backs don’t have as big an affect as it used to back in the day. This is why the good teams still have a winning record in back to backs. So not much of an excuse for the jets loss. And if their coach mentions nothing about the back to backs, then it indeed is no excuse. Canucks just played a dominant game that the jets couldn’t handle. Jets looked bad cuz canucks played good. Very little to do with back to backs.
Total speculation but it looks like Demko may have injured his knee when he blocked that shot from Namestnikov at 7:17. He stays down for a couple seconds after attempting to stand and then straightens out his leg. You can see the angle his knee was tweaked during the slow-mo. Hopefully its minor! 🤞
Quinn Hughes and the Vancouver Canucks win over Adam Lowry and the Winnipeg Jets 5-0 🏒🔵⚪🟢🇨🇦 Vancouver Canucks improve to 42-17-7, while the Winnipeg Jets move to 40-18-5
@@AndiDeew The part you're hearing is literally the start of the song and happens after every chorus before the verse. I know the part you're thinking of though.
Congrats to the Canucks shutting out an otherwise impressive Jets outfit. I hope Thatcher Demko is ok as he's a big part of Vancouvers success & I'd defo pay good $$$s to see Quinn Hughes play!!
Is it just coincidence the Canucks are playing better defense WITHOUT MYERS. I, personally, don't think so. The turnovers have dropped significantly. Hronek is still coughing it up from time to time. Welcome back to Soucy!!! 7:15 great interference by the ref. Demko bailed him out!!!
In the NHL when a goalie starts and has a shutout and is pulled in the 3rd and if the back up goalie allows a goal...Is this still a "shut out" for the starting goalie?
a goalie must be the only goaltender in order to record the shutout. this is a team shutout (3rd in Canucks history). As for Wins and Losses, the goalie that was in the net for when his team scored the game winning goal gets recorded the W. Or if the team lost, the goalie that was in net for when the other team scored the game winning goal, gets the L
