Cole Caufield had a pair of goals, and Josh Anderson netted the game-winner with just 18 seconds left as the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3.
Tavares, Matthews and Marner? Combined, over 35 million dollars. Need to give Marner more motivation and more money so he can post aobut how cool his Range Rover is.
I was in the building for my first ever Habs game (in Montréal) and I will never forget how loud that crowd was. I LOVE THIS CITY AND I LOVE THIS TEAM SO MUCH❤❤❤❤❤
What an absolutely wild start to the season, Monahan was doing surprisingly well and Anderson with that late winner was a welcome surprise for a team with no expectations.
As a flames fan it’s great seeing Monahan get a goal I hope he can get his career back on track it was fun watching him with gaudreau and hudler back jn 2015
GOAL Caufield heating up! Monahan scores! Anderson scores! Captain with some nice plays. Allen played very well! WOO! Go Habs Go! Happy season everyone!
Suzuki and Caufield are gonna carry this team on their backs this year. Which will be a lot more fun to watch than a goalie carrying the team. I think that by the 23-24 season this team will be aiming for the playoffs.
Yes it feels like finally Montreal has their young 2 stars, center and winger. Lotta young talent coming up too so its starting to get interesting. Agree on the fun part too.
@@politicalbandwagon4989 Kent Hughes made it clear that if the prospect pool lives up to the hype than he will go all out in picking up whatever assets are needed
@@Bdubsky Top 5 pick in this years draft, big free agent star signing (Dubois?), a goalie that can steal games and win in the playoffs. They get those three things in the next couple of years they can be seriously dangerous heading into the mid to late 20’s.
Dude I could score on matt murray. Go high glove. He has the worst glove hand in the league. Hence why after winning 2 cups Pittsburgh let him go. He was found out.
@Jarrad just to tell you try to 1v1 caufield and then tell me if it’s as easy as you said. I’m sure he will beat at hockey you as he would beat a kid at hockey
Flames fan here…I honestly cried a little when Mony scored 🥲 You just could tell it meant to much to him and I couldn’t be happier for him. I hope he has an unexpectedly amazing season ❤
Go Habs Go 🔵⚪️🔴
3 of the 4 goals by the Habs were top glove side on Murray. After Caulfield scored his two there, I guess it wasn't hard for Anderson to figure it out. LOL
@@kathcasey2090 1st goal is 2 on 1 rush 2nd goal 3 on 2 rush, 3rd goal blocked shot goes to open man 4 th goal 2 on 1 rush Murray saved and left the defence not covering there man and screening him also deflected off holl, the blame for this game is on the defence
Felt so good to see a first game season win and it felt even better to see a goal being scored in the last minute of the game. Hope that happens more often. Usually nothing happens in the final seconds of every period. Good game Habs!
awesome work by Toronto found another creative way to lose and disappoint, all the true fans knew when we tied it back at 3, and especially after that penalty was killed without a whistle and the crowd, we knew they were going to score
Your going way back bro and habs beat the leafs once in the playoff unless your going years back anyone that knows hockey would pick the leafs roster over the habs btw the habs had a great season last year lol
I just love how people in the media wanted Saint-Louis gone because of the 0-8 pre-season. There's no one better to teach these kids how it's done. Remember Caufield last year before and after Saint-Louis arrived. Full season with this coach he would've been a Calder candidate
Well the canadiens and the leafs are the oldest teams in the NHL dating back to the very beginning of the NHL. They are long time rivals. Both fan bases hate each other and both teams hate each other. No jealous from either side. Just part of the game
FINALLY! Nothing like yearly mornings in Sweden watching the highlights of the NHL action that has taken place during sleep over here. LETS GET THIS SEASON GOING. Where are You all from, all other die hard NHL-Fans? :D
To quote Simpson..and for Matt Murray that;s the THIRD up and over that glove.....lol...lol..and don't forget that 826 save percentage..my ribs are too sore..and its only game one..
Matt Murray’s glove side is like swiss cheese. The Maple-Laughs will get into the playoffs, they’ll lead the series, Murray will let in a bad goal and things will unravel from there as usual.
@@darrionroberts4100 If a different team had a close game like this and lost at the end like this one did. Would it still be defined as a choke to you? Or are you just going with the trend for the last few years?
Please don’t start Murray ever again (he has no net awareness and no size as a goaltender. He got beaten so easily by simple shots that most goaltenders in the NHL can stop just by positioning. 22 shots let in 4 goals?!
In many ways the seasons schedule writes itself. Not like Betman deserves rival matchup cred lol. 4 year old could pick this game as opening night in Canada.
Leafs fan here. Great Game Habs you played well. All the best the rest of the season. I am putting this post to show good sportsmanship and urging others to do it as well
What a joke post. You’re serious? Wow, we got Jesus over here. Jesus would mock you. It’s chirping. Rivalries will cause that. No one is getting hurt except Leafs’ fans, who are typically quite arrogant as we all know. They fail time and time again, so no one can chirp. It’s hockey! “Urge others to do the same.” Hahah I can’t even…
Of course in the grand scheme this win really means nothing. I'm sure Montreal will go on a skid and Leafs will take off. But it really showed that Montreal is building something good and will be very competitive in the next few years.
The audio seems off, it’s cutting at the same time when there are cuts, but it’s like the audio they chose for their clips isn’t lined up. The audio is about 0.5 sec or so ahead of the video.
This is not the way to get Bedard, but that was a fun season opener. It continues to astound how Ducharme was able to suppress Caufield's incredible scoring talent for the first half of last season.
@@johnnysauve3050 That's not how that works, it's a common misconception so I don't blame you but it is MORE then 2 lottery picks in 5 years, which years and what place don't matter.
That attempt of clearing the puck by Jake Muzzin at the end of the game, literally cost the Toronto Maple Leafs the game. Josh Anderson is not going to miss from there, what a nice shot to bury it Josh!
