Isles PP is much better. PK is not so good BUT they've found a secret shorthanded weapon in Holmstrom. The emergence of both Dobson and Holmstrom has given Isles fans hope. If the Isles and Flyers switched coaches the Isles would lead the Metro. Oilers had an 8 game winning streak and now a three-game losing streak. Reminiscent of how our season has gone. The last month has been great, with points in like 14 of the past 15. than not but they did have a seven-game losing streak earlier this year.

Its crazy to watch all the islanders cross ice passes go straight through every Oilers player in the second period. Can’t blame skinner for this one. Sorokin is also so dman good.

You can’t blame skinner but damn he’s so far from even saving those haha. They weren’t the craziest cross crease passes, many goalies make those saves.

Skinner was outplayed by Sorokin so yeah, Skinner can take some of the blame. He needs to do better. The Oilers don't have much of a margin for error left and the goaltending has been a big reason for that.

If mcdavid doesn’t score or pass to Hyman for him to score we don’t get it done. The depth isn’t there. God knows what that 3rd like was doing all night

If the Isles had good coaching as opposed to average at best they'd be even better. The emergence of youngsters like Dobson, Holmstrom, and Romonov has given Isles fans renewed hope for the future.

NYI 1st goal - powerplay. Original shot through the Darnell Nurse screen. Skinner makes the stop, but an unchecked, unmarked Lee is able to bang in the rebound. NOBODY touched him or his stick. Can't put that one on Skinner. NYI 2nd goal - powerplay. Horvath is left to skate right up the middle of the defensive diamond, where he receives a strong pass in the lower slot area. Once again, completely untouched. Quick shot and goal. Can't put that one on Skinner either. NYI 3rd goal - shorthanded. Brutal blind pass by Nuge turns into 2 on 1 that defenseman doesn't take away the pass, which is a one-timer into the net. Again - can't put that on Skinner. Oiler fan base and Oiler media really need to open their eyes to the lack of defense this team has. Unless we can outscore our constant mistakes, we don't make the playoffs or go very far if we do. Defense wins championships, and the Oilers don't have it.

Ilya Sorokin played like Ilya Sorokin, and the defense, while giving up 30 again, was much better. This was a much needed win for the isles to keep pace in a very clogged metro. Also a key regulation win. Also Simon Holmstrom is a fun player. He's already at 10 goals, even if his shooting % is unsustainable, he's making all of those shorthanded chances count

This is the first time I've ever seen the Isles improve after an Adam Pelech injury. Even Pulock wasn't the same. Mayfield has been downright bad. So the additions of Reilly and Bortuzzo have actually seemed to rally the team and they're okaying very well, despite the Montreal.

Very weird fact, when the Isles last played the Oilers, Isles scored their ONLY goal in the first minute of the game and Oilers went on to win. Tonight, Oilers scored their ONLY goal within the first two minutes of the game and Isles went on to win.

After what seems like years & years of a bad power play, the Islanders look like they finally have it worked out. I think the acquisition of Horvat is what made it happen, plus the further development of Dobson. Now with a good point man in Dobson, a good passer in Barzal & finally a guy who can put it in from in front of the net in Horvat, that's 3-out-of 5 of the necessary ingredients. Add Nelson, who has a good shot from anywhere and whoever else they put on, that's a very good first unit.

It will have to happen on his last year of his current contract in a major trade which allows for the Oilers holding much of the $$ for his contract. I can't see a team that is making a strong cup run having the cap-space for McDavid. For his next contract, if he's not in Edmonton, I'm having a hard-time seeing a decent team that can afford McDavid plus having a decent team. I just hope he goes anywhere besides Edmonton or Chicago.

On the Islanders 1st goal, why do Nurse and Ceci let the Islander behind them and are following the puck not knowing where he is? This happens far too often where the opposing team is behind our D in front of our net? What kind of effort was that tonight? 8-0 is turning out to just be a smoke screen. Now that it’s blown away it exposes our inability to play defence or put in 60 minutes.

Christmas is only 6 days away. Currently, they are in 6th place in Pacific Division. They scored first, but then fell apart in the 2nd and 3rd period. Boohoo!

Maybe it's time for draistl to leave his purse at the door be a man not a brat. He should actually try skating faster in his own zone play a 200ft game like the greats of the past. I've been watching the gamecenter stats and dre is always negative except when he's on a short hot streak. I'm pretty it's his center man he's supposed to watch that skates hard and creates goals or assists because dre thinks he's better than him floating on the half boards in our own zone or near our blue line. I'm tired of this guy he looks like he doesn't want to be here. Trade him with campbell and nurse package

Wouldn’t watch my Coilers, realistically knowing they’d likely serve up another stinker…listened to some of the 1st, but when they gave up a shorty on the powerplay, I was done. 3️⃣ of the Isle’s starting D outta the lineup, too. I won’t waste my time listening to the fanboys juvenile drivel. 3️⃣1️⃣ shots on goal & ONLY 1️⃣ to show…let’s blame BOTH goalies, again⁉️ What a j😴ke 👎🏻 🇨🇦

Sportsnet highlights format really stinks this year. It's the same no matter who the teams are. Always spends half on the first period. Any blown calls by the refs? Any fights? Why show a replay of a goal so many times? Smells like another woke hiring and done by someone who's not a hockey fan. So bland they're not worth watching anymore. Yech!

I swear to god you people in the comment section are so funny, You start dissing off Edmonton again, When you all know what happen last time they lost a bunch, they went on to win 8 in a row, and they weren’t even terrible either there 3rd period was ok but the islanders goalie shut the door everytime

@@kollelcash they didn’t actually, there were only 2 penalties taken in the Leafs vs Rangers game…and both were called on Toronto ( unless the NHL app is having seizures again)

You guys had multiple power plays, including a 5 on 3, and a phantom too many men on the ice call in the third to TRY and get you back in it. Even Ferraro called that penalty out as bs. Can’t win if you can’t take advantage of the opportunities given.

team can't afford to go on losing streaks. the coyotes and predators are playing well despite the predators losing tonight. however the yotes came back and won in their game. not to mention the wild also winning their game against boston. this season is looking like the 17-18 oilers.
