In his first game back after being scratched, Andrei Kuzmenko made his case, scoring the Vancouver Canucks' first two goals and the rest of the team kept up the pace to stay far enough ahead of the San Jose Sharks in a 7-4 win.

Canucks staking a claim for not just having the best goalie tandem, but the best 3rd or 4th line this season. - 135 goals, 10 more than the 2nd placed team and the most so far this season. - 23 wins, tied with Rangers in the league table - Hughes and Miller occupy 2x of the Top 10 Points Scorers, with Pettersson included to make 3x of the Top 15. EDIT: Petey now ensures 3x of the Top 10 are Canucks players. - Hughes leads the way on points as defenseman, with 42. - Boeser 2nd in goals scored on 24 - Demko with 3x shutouts this season, tied for 1st, and both he and DeSmith make up the Top 10 goalie stats on GAA. i could go on, but I think more than enough has already been said. Canucks mean business. This bright start they had, many thought would wear off, but oh, no. They're dead wrong. Canucks go into Christmas as #1. I think now is the time EVERYONE takes notice of Vancouver. GO CANUCKS GO!

Nice to see Kuzmenko return to the lineup tonight & respond with 2 goals...The Garland Joshua connection is really clicking & a lot of fun to watch those two out on the ice...On a different note, not a great start for Demko in net as he gives up 4 goals on just 25 shots for an .840 save percentage... At this point, I think DeSmith has earned an equal time share in net for the Canucks... DeSmith has a record of 6-2-2 with a 2.44 GAA & .923 Save percentage... With that being said, a well deserved Xmas break for the Canucks as they sit in 1st place overall in the NHL...

As a Leafs fan, this is how you get to the top (you improve to get better). Someone should let Toronto know this, but at this point i don't think they even care. They just get by and hope for the best (while everyone else is actually getting sh't done) and why would they? 10+ mil for participating and improving your stats i guess. At this point, i think I'm just gonna be more of a hockey fan than a Leafs fan, it's less stressful and i won't have to worry about getting my hopes up only to be crushed when they fail (or just not show up). Congratulations Vancouver, maybe you can break the streak/drought 🤷‍♂️

So it doesn't mean much. This team is very good so far and I'm happy about that but they are not the 11 team. That team was in the top 3 (mostly 1st) in virtually every category. O. D. PP. PK. They had everything. The NHL isn't as strong as it was back then either. Teams now have some weakness somewhere in their lineup. In my opinion the 10 Hawks and the 11 Canucks were the last truly top to bottom deep teams the NHL has seen. Canuck fans like you need to dial it back a bit. I get your excited, but come on. Settle down. They've got a long way to go before they can even be spoken about with the 11 team.

The Canucks played hard to avenge the loss to the sharks last game. That cheap shot on Zetterland was dirty though. Credit to the Van O. The sharks never quit on O and that is as much that can be realistically asked for with this roster. It is prob best for the sharks to have more players score just to use the points/players for trades at the deadline even if there is defensive games like this. Defense can be fixed next season when Smith, Musty, Couture and the 2024 top 5 pick join the team. It really does not matter now.

@@rexcannel8195 I know he did a lot of damage with some horrible trades and millstone contracts. But the core is mostly his doing. And he wasn't against drafting Pettersson. Because these are stitched directly from the broadcast and broadcasts are still just limited to 720p/1080i… it’s a problem across a lot of sports. 4K or even 1080p sports is basically non-existent, not even for the Super Bowl (upscaled 4k, that one time it was ‘in 4k’). The technology, complexity, bandwidth, and cost (probably mostly this) associated with capturing, producing, and then broadcasting live in higher is just too high, apparently. If you’re lucky, you you can get a 720p60 stream (which actually looks great) which are the best you’re going to get. Unfortunately SNow is only 720p30.

Canucks are 23-9-3!. Everything going the Canucks way this year and I’ll tell you that for free. Plan the parade down Robson and Davie street all the way down through Stanley Park with the Stanley Cup. Canucks are cup contenders y’all. Hughes, Pettersson, JT Miller, Boeser, Hronek, Demko all in their prime and hungry to win. Eddy G in El Salvador on satellite 🛰️ wifi and back in Vancouver in April in time for the Canucks playoff run in 2024!. So much good content for Vancouver sports radio and podcasts like RinkWide with Jeff Patterson and Halford and Brough and especially the Canucks post game show with Sat and Bik on 650am radio in Vancouver and the feud between Thomas Drance and Rick Daliwal is the best. The 2023/24 Vancouver Canucks are the only team since the 1984/85 Edmonton Oilers to score this many goals in their first 30 games of the season. And first team to have a quartet of players (Pettersson, JT Miller, Hughes, Boeser) in NHL history to score 25 points each in their first 23 games of the season even surpassing the 1984/85 Edmonton Oilers. That year 84/85 the Oilers went on to win the Stanley Cup. You can certainly see the similarities between both teams. Pettersson {Gretzky}, JT Miller {Messier}, Hughes {Coffey}, Hronek {Huddy}, Boeser {Kurri}, Demko {Fuhr/Moog}.

I'm not super stoked with Pettersson. I think the non calls were good ones. Two of em, he likely should've been called for diving. Also, he's missing the net like last year's Boeser. Top line power play is struggling and far too predicable trying for the Pettersson / Beoser one-timer. Anyone know why Kuze wasn't out there for the hatty attempt with the empty net?
