Hey all! I thought I'd share some inspiration here. ANA - Logo is inspired by surf shop logos, the font is from local lifeguard towers, and the striping/coloring is inspired by vintage surfboards. ARI - Wanted to emphasize the natural beauty of Arizona by using new and different colors. BOS - Colors and stencil theme inspired by the Boston Marathon. BUF - Inspired by the city itself, taking the city flag and replacing the seal with the Sabres primary logo to tie it all together. CAR - Heather gray taken from past designs and if you look closely you can also see a subtle pattern resembling a racing flag waving in the wind. CBJ - Stinger. CGY - Inspired by the flag and the Stampeders. CHI - Original 6 era striping with colors and logo inspired by the flag. COL - The Rocky Mountains. DAL - Texas flag. DET - Design taken from 2014 WC uniform, but the DETROIT word mark takes center stage. EDM - Silver bands to represent the Cup, 894 is Gretzky's goal total, and the great one is seen in the silver bands similar to the new Ducks jersey. FLA - Vice coloring of their original style of uniform. LA - Iconic Burger King jersey redone with more style and shimmer to represent Los Angeles. MIN - A jersey that creates a scene with the stars throughout and trees at the bottom to represent the Minnesota wilderness. The logo Is done to replicate the Northern Lights. MTL - Expo colors and a jersey from the early 1900's fashioned with MTL in place of the standard C. NJ - Original jerseys in current colors with the Jersey script in place of the logo. NSH - Inspired by the mustard jersey, the NASHVILLE is replaced with SMASHVILLE and the jersey is meant to represent neon lights with the bright yellow on dark blue look. NYI - Colors taken from the fisherman era and the logo is Long Island. NYR - Their logo blown up with the Lady Liberty logo on the right shoulder. Also, the skyline can been seen in the back numbers. OTT - Modernized the barber pole look and put OTTAWA on the front, along with Peace Tower on each shoulder. PHI - Inspiration taken from the old Spectrum logo. Black and white was used to show off the multiple colors. PIT - The bridges were used as striping, along with the Pittsburgh Pirates (NHL) logo. SEA - Grunge. SJ - The Pacific Ocean. STL - The Gateway Arch is referenced in the logo and striping. Also, if you squint hard enough, you can see waves on the bottom of the jersey and in the arch striping to represent the flag. TB - Gasparilla inspiration with staggered striping to represent the Lightning. TOR - OVO inspiration with an original Leafs logo taking center stage. VAN - The colors are taken from the flag, along with the wave. VGK - The castle inside T-Mobile Arena inspired this striping, with the font taken from hotels on the Vegas Strip. WPG - A more expansive version of the WASAC jersey we have previously seen. WSH - Striping taken from DC flag and DC's nickname is on the crest.
As much as I can’t stand the Flyers (I’m a Penguins fan), I can still tell you exactly where the pattern on the pants is from - the logo for their old arena, the Spectrum
The Oilers jersey has 894 because that is Wayne Gretzky's goal total in his career. The Flyers jersey has rainbow colors because it is representing the logo of their original arena.
The San Jose jersey concept reminds me a lot of the Seattle pride hockey tournament jerseys, which took the basic layout of the kraken jerseys but included such details as staged gradients in the numbers. I love those jerseys, and I love this San Jose concept
Anaheim reminds me of the 70s UCLA football jerseys where the blue was so light and the gold was actually darker than the jersey. The Bruins just looks like a Sabres one with the B and striping (yellow-white-blue-white-yellow)
The Kraken jersey gives me big Singles (the 1992 movie) vibes. The font is the same as, or very similar to, the one used on the movie poster. The movie's set in Seattle, too. Nostalgic AF to us Gen X'ers!
Constructive criticism I'll offer of the Oilers jersey, as a fan of the team: Go with 780 instead of 894. Edmonton is sometimes referred to as the "780" (seven-eighty) as that's been our area code since 1999. 894 is meaningless to us because Gretzky didn't score all 894 of his goals with us- he didn't even break Howe's 801 record until near the end of his Kings tenure.
The CBJ jersey reminds me of the Seattle Seahawks alternate jersey The Wild logo seems to blend the Timberwolves logo and add a touch of the Vikings purple in their jerseys on that Wild logo
Trying to change the Isles logo ... classic mistake. (Fish Stick instead of Fisherman) They could have just used the lighthouse ! (It's even part of history! The first us public works project was a lighthouse on long island) HATE the wavy stripe imo
Hey guys! I'm actively trying to find a Red Vegas Reverse retro in size 50 somewhere for a not ridiculous price! If anyone has one or knows where I could find one I'd really appreciate the tip! Thanks!
Hello Neil, great video. I know you're a busy guy with videos planned ahead. But... The Sudbury Wolves of the OHL just released a new 3rd Jersey, and personally, I think it's awful as a lifelong fan. I can't even describe my disappointment. I was wondering if I could get your opinion on it or maybe even a video. Ps, it has text on the front instead of logo... I know how much you love that 😉
The Anaheim city flag looks like this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anaheim,_California#/media/File:Flag_of_Anaheim,_California_(1967%E2%80%932018,_2019%E2%80%93present).svg And it IS a City, so not sure what the air quotes were about.
Love the Canucks concept. 🙂👍🩵💛💚🤍 I would've used the full-body Johnny Canuck instead of the Johnny V-Head and the traditional Athletic block font instead of the corporately bland Agency font.
