So funny reading the comments claiming I am a biased Flyers fan. Just because I am wearing Flyer's merch, doesn't mean I am a Flyers fan. I'm a Canadiens fan, actually, and the Flyers are near the bottom of my list of favorite teams. I collect jerseys and merch from all teams because I have this channel and make videos on each team. I am wearing Flyers gear because Gritty came first. Before you try and insult me, at least do some research first!
Hey Neil, here's the explanation for why Sparky is the New York Islanders' mascot, from an Islanders fan. The New York Islanders adopted Sparky from the now defunct New York Dragons Arena Football team in 2010. In the beginning of the 2010-11 season, the organization changed his colors from black and red to blue and orange to match the New York Islanders color scheme.
I tgought it would be a reference to the Nets, who they share an arena with, because they were close to be renamed into the New Jersey Swamp Dragons in the 90s.
Victor E. Green is an alien with hockey stick antennas and is a reference to the Stars main green which is Victory Green or it could be a reference to their former owner Norman Green.
@@Comryft You're correct, Tommy Hawk was actually inducted BEFORE Youppi! was. Youppi was only inducted just last year, Tommy Hawk was inducted a few years before that.
Definitely the best yet, I got to listen to Neil say "He's cute, but he's got that SWAAAAAG, he's got that street swag, he'll bounce that booty around and get yah going" I had head phones on, listening on my lunch break, and I think I made everyone around my jump when I started dying laughing.
No way! I just figured out why Stinger is green! The teams name is Blue Jackets, and I think Stinger is supposed to be a yellow jacket...blue and yellow, what do you get? Green! I still don't think Stinger looks really all that great but realizing how they probably got the idea for the green makes me appreciate it a lot more
Sparky the Dragon was originally the mascot for the New York Dragons arena football team that played at Nassau Coliseum. When that team folded, the Islanders just adopted Sparky and turned him into their mascot.
I love your videos. They're entertaining & very informative. MY favorites are the unboxing of jerseys. Keep UP the great content & happy holiday st you
Harvey the Hound is the original mascot. I believe he also might be the only NHL mascot not wearing a jersey. The tongue on the bobblehead that you showed was maybe a promo meant to poke fun at MacTavish pulling out his tongue one season.
Neil the reason why the islanders use sparky is the new york dragons of the arena football league. He was the mascot for them they went under and isles picked him up. kinda like how the spose left Montreal for washington and habs got youpee
Y did you put gritty so high up and yoopie not either 1 under or 1 higher then gritty even though they are LITERALLY the exact same mascot And the only reason why u put gritty at number 1 was because your favourite team is the flyers
Your comments on the Kings mascot reminded me of sluggerrr the KC Royals mascot, he's also a lion but they worked the crown into his head shape and I think it's very creative
As a Flyers fan, I concur with your winner.😉 Your description of some mascots looking like sex offenders was spot on. I’ll never look at them the same way again.😂😂
So the question I have is why are mascots you have deemed “creepy” ranked higher than some of the more generic mascots? I get the docking points for being too blah, but I’d think blah is better than creepy, no?
Hi Neil, Josie from Brooklyn. Thank God my blue shirts DO NOT have a mascot. Great job on this video. U put a lot of thought into it. I despise Gritty, Sparky has nothing to do with isles. The Dallas one is awful. I love Wild Wing, Love Moose, Gnash, Sharky, The bald Eagle for Caps. Think that’s it. Wonder what Seattle will do?
You gave Carlton a 3 for his name. If you lived in Toronto, you would have know that Maple Leaf Gardens arena was on Carlton st. Might make more sense.

To me, it kinda WAS an educational video. There were several mascots I haven't seen before, or knew the name, so I really enjoyed it. A ranking like this is subjective, so who could have opinion about that? Well, it's the internet...
As a burins fan yes I kinda agree blades isnt good bc he is irrelevant and doesn't do much but the drug part I mean, can pretty much apply for most bad mascots
Wait a second, shouldn’t this video be titled NHL Mascots ranked 1-31 since there are 31 teams in the NHL? Or is there a team in the league that doesn’t have a mascot
You do know that Harvey The Hound is the original mascot right? Not to mention his tongue being out only because of the Oilers incident. Put so respek on his name
After seeing four games in San Antonio, the AHL Rampage “T-Bone” mascot exceeds the entertainment value of anyone in the NHL. Tommy Hawk, Louie and Chance (who I’ve seen in person recently) are lame by comparison. He engages the fans throughout the game, is 100% kid friendly, has good hygiene, and continues to make San Antonio have of the best presentations of the sport anywhere. But what a fun, well presented discussion that goes way beyond the typical serious hockey discussion.
