derraj many people believe that figure skating isn't a real sport, unfortunately. I've been told after competing before that, "it's pretty, but it isn't a real sport." Lots of people just don't understand the sheer power and drive it takes to be a figure skater. Things are really skating to turn around recent though!
What the hell? If you want interracial couples to be treated just like any other couple, you sure aren't doing that by making this comment. You do realize that, right?
cedric_gaming2817 people get injured in figure skating too? like if that hockey player did an actual hard jump and fell he could have gotten a concussion or broken a bone or something. People do really extreme jumps in ice skating; there have been people who have backflipped in a routine
if you guys want to see more of this watch Battle of the Blades it was a show on the CBC that literally paired ex-NHLers with figure skaters to do routines for charity. it was an amazing show!
Jeff Skinner (who actually plays for Hedican's former team, lol) used to do competitive figure skating up to his teens and sometimes you can see it in the way he skates. He's very skilled :)
everytime someone posts a yuri on ice comment i die a little inside. like come on. its a good show, im a fan, but NOT EVERYTHING THAT HAS FIGURE SKATING HAS TO DO WITH YURI ON ICE. JUST STOP ITS SO IRRITATING
Madison Perez yeah but not everything has to be about yuri on ice when it comes to figure skating. it would make sense for comments on _that_ to be about yuri, but not this.
I just got into just some basic splits training, learning how hard it is just to lift a leg into certain positions, and I cannot imagine the raw power that goes into figure skating. And the sheer control. Figure skaters are superhuman.
He did really well! He looked natural on the ice and didn’t seem to struggle with the figure skates or galumph along as some hockey players do. I would recommend some ballet classes and more figure skating, since he’s so good at it.
They are so cute together. I was going to say that their daughter is probably amazing at skating considering who her parents are, and then RU-vid led me to a video of Kristi and her daughter Emma figure skating together. And she was even better than I anticipated.
I can still barely remain upright on skates but as a child Kristi and Michelle Kwan were among my idols, I would watch them with so much awe whenever I caught them on tv..
he did really well for someone who just learned it, if he had more flexibility he'd do better. But he must be really comfortable on ice. If i were to try, it'd take me months to just learn how to skate.
I grew up in MN, where almost all kids skate---figure, hockey, long-blade racing. And it isn't unheard of for someone do two or more. I knew a boy in school who was on the hockey team and also was his sister's pairs and ice-dancing partner.
Just stating it now that every yoi fan who wasn't actual figure skater before yoi was ever announced pisses me off. otoh I've always found 1 foot spins easier than 2 foot - I never knew why but it looks like Bret might have found it easier too?
Why what? yoi? because they're essentially romanticising an incredibly complex sport and what could have been a very deep and interesting show turned skating into a shallow relationship between student and coach. now all these kids are getting into skating thinking that that's what skating is all about but it's not
this video is my dream come true. hockey players doing figure skating. and the fact that they are actualy married is a wonderful plus for my little icy heart.
LCNonsense it's kind of getting annoying I mean I LOVE the show but they need to stop involving everything that has to do with ice skating with yuri on ice
Let me just say this, skating has the best names for different moves: swizzle, camel spin, twizzle, swing roll (I call it spring roll accidentally sometimes 😂), Mohawk, spread eagle, kazooka (i think that's the name), spiral, stag jump, falling leaf, barrel roll, and my favorite, shoot the duck.
