Flames were pretty bad after the deadline, they added Mantha got rid of Markstrom. Didn’t really get better. I think this is the year they finish bottom 7 and more of their young players should start making an impact the following season.

Totally agree. You need to do really poorly for a few years, in order to truly get a chance to one day be competitive again. Chicago first pick last year, second pick this year…perfect. Edmonton sucked for several years. Calgary needs to follow that trail.

Draisaitl is going to be expensive. 4-5 years right in his prime is going to cost a fortune.

I think that the best move that can be had, is The Rangers & The Columbus Blue Jackets swapping the $8M+/yr players Trouba for Laine (you can put in other players, prospects & picks to make it happen). This way, both will get a fresh start on different teams. I know that I'm going to get a lot of flack about this, but, it only seems logical, at the moment. Let me know what you think

Laine for McGroarty makes sense to me

If Blake isn't going to max contract Byfield: and he certainly didn't have any problem doing that with Dubois, then why not bridge him instead. Because if Byfield hits big, he'll cost a fortune in 5 years. Take it from a Nucks fan who saw Benning screw up the Petterson contract.
