@@-MEL16-A.O.Cmaybe you can “dilute” it with another serum? Just mix in a drop with eg a very basic hylaronic acid ? That’s what I’m planning to do to use up my bottle 😅
Goes to show we’re all so different. I have sensitive skin and this product does AMAZING things for me personally. My texture is much more even. Less breakouts, and less irritation overall
Same.. People on RU-vid be talking so loud when it is actually a good product. This product is a holy grail to my sensitive skin. It's evened my texture and reduced acne marks when none other products worked
@@nupurjain4867 you are just throwing money away when you could easily buy a moisturiser with the recommended % of niacinamide. loke how many products are you going to layer??
You can dilute it though. That’s what I do. I’ve purchased this product twice and I like it. I mix 1-2 drops of niacinamide 10% into my palm with 2-3 drops of a basic hyaluronic acid serum, then I apply the mixture on my face.
This particular one by far worked for me best out of all the actives and product . Not even retinol azelaic acid did what this ordinary 10% niacinamide with 1% zinc did . I have oily ,acne prone ,large pore skin .
For darker skintones on the oilier side, this banished all my acne. It helps keep hyperpigmentation at bay. It controls the shine. I love it! I wish more companies can target specific skintones with ingredients that can help us also. Niacinimide paired with tranxemic acid from inkey keeps my skin clear!
I was thinking the same, everyone's skin is different. I have sensitive skin yet can tolerate 15% Niac. I've reduced to 10 as I've read that the higher amounts get redundant for what it can do for your skin That said both 10 and 15 percent has greatly improved my skin. I use it every day. I use Revolution brand. X
Lol. Everyone’s different. Not denouncing her knowledge by saying that. It is what it is. This product helped me so much. I’m 27 and have oily sensitive skin. I have pigmentation from almost a decade ago. When I use this product consistently, it greatly helps.
@@FuriedHeartsWith all due respect, doctors are not formulators. Doctors also don’t know everything. I respect her, but in this case, she’s not quite right. Formulation is very key and complex. Derms are more attuned to skin concerns and diseases, not cosmetic science.
I love you Dr. Idriss but my oily skin loves 10% Niacinamide. Used in conjunction w/2% Salicylic & Retinol- my enlarged pores are so much less visible. Still 🩷 you though.
I have very dry, hormonal acne prone skin (I know all acne is hormonal but it’s what the dream said) mainly on my chin, jawline and neck area. Very big and deep acne and this was the only thing that helped me. I only use a few drops and sometimes skip a day since I have dry skin but it has made my skin clear and radiant and made my old acne scars fade so fast. I stopped using it after I ran out a year ago and than picked some up again about 2 months ago, and I was reminded of how well it works for my skin so I won’t be going without it again. Just a tip for any ladies with really dry skin but they want the benefits from ingredients that can be drying like, aha, bha, azalaic acid, niacinamide, vit c etc. I usually use a mild, non stripping face wash, than whatever acids or serums that could cause dryness, than apply aveeno calm and restore skin therapy balm (it’s a collidal oatmeal skin protectant) it has some good ingredients like oatmeal, glycerine, panthanol, and cerimide but also has a little petroleum in it so it’s kind of like slugging on top and will counteract any dryness that the other things may cause. I love the texture because it’s more a thick cream with a hint of petroleum not too sticky like Vaseline. Great for around the eyes. I don’t like the price which is 20$ for a 1.7 oz tube but a little goes a long way and it’s lasting surprisingly long. I actually picked it up on clearance when it was $5 because my six yr old has eczema and it’s part of the eczema line but I used it when my skin was inflamed and barrier was compromised after using some harsh products and over exfoliating and my skin loved it so I been using it daily ever since 4 months ago. I’m usually a very cheap shopper but will continue to get this one.
When using the aveeno for your face, it’s really not too expensive at 20$ because it will last a while but when I initially bought it, I was going to use it for my child’s body and with it being such a little tube, I was shocked at the original price because I can’t imagine it cover your body in that many uses. With that being said. I usually use a different oatmeal cream on her entire body and will use this aveeno balm over top, only in areas with flare ups and it really does help but so does pure petroleum jelly over collidal oatmeal cream on her eczema
I have very dry mature skin (not particularly sensitive) and have been using this product three nights a week for about three months. It has brightened and smoothed my skin very noticeably. I wouldn't be without it!
I use it on my skin for over 2 years now and I’m a coloured woman it works just fine .. it’s diluted with some other ingredients so hardly irritating at all.
@@divine2310 My skin is actually kinda dry tbh. I don’t how, but niacinamide really does wonders for my skin! Also, I feel like it covers my skin in a firming layer, so the fine lines are totally gone in the morning
I LOVE The Ordinary Niacinamide & Zinc serum!! I tend to have sensitive, oily, textured, and acne prone skin, and this works miracles on my skin. Though since using this product, I have had clear, smooth and more matte since introducing it into my skincare routine. I wear it day and night! I’m constantly restocking it! This serum along with the Cerave Acne Cleansing wash are my besties and will never stop using them. ❤️❤️
I feel so validated! I used this for a long time in my routine before I found out this was the product causing tons of irritation for me. After I cut it, my skin got better! Obviously everyone’s skin is different, but this is just the first time I’ve heard this explanation before and I feel so validated😭
So before this video, were you just walking around thinking that this product wasn’t what was irritating your skin even after you discovered that it was? And if so, why did you need this video to validate your lived experience? Asking because I am very confused by the hundreds of comments under videos saying that this or that is validating..
@@ntombiyanimasinaHey there, can you tell me what's your skin type and so it didn't work for you as I have oily acne prone skin and reading the comments I'm so confused whether I should buy it or not?? Thanks:)
The point is 10% isn't necessary, though. All these brands are only doing 10 because TO did it first, but peak effectiveness is already just at 4-5%, which is less likely to irritate.
You're probably very young and your skin barrier stills super resilient, I was like that also when I was way younger I could handle 10% amazingly but then part of getting older is having a more weak skin barrier and then I start getting suuuper irritated by 10% niacinimide... so yeah I think 10% is good just in very young people, which are also the ones can afford those cheap brands like the ordinary, maaaybe it's correlated.
I’m so sensitive but this product was THE BEST THING I EVER DID. I use it daily, twice a day, no issues. I’ve gifted it to everyone I can. Game changer.
My face got so red and hot when I used it the first time that I had to wash it off. I tried it again a week later and I had no negative reaction so I kept using it in summer and winter, my most problematic seasons for my skin, but I noticed that it did nothing except that I hated how the product made my skin feel and look. It's hard to describe it, it was like a film on my skin, like a mask or a barrier that nothing can penetrate after it dried down a little before using moisturizer. It made my face look shiny but also very dry at the same time. It didn't feel nice to the touch either. And even after putting on moisturizer my skin felt tight and dry after like half an hour and when I furrowed my brows my skin on my forehead stretched almost painfully and my skin got a little flaky there and on my cheeks as well. It was especially bad during winter time
1) The ordinary 10% one is much cheaper and affordable than the 5% ones she has recommended. 2) She said most people react bad. This can be too much for most, but for others it’s fine. 3) I’ve seen products with 20+% niacinamide. 10% ain’t as bad in comparison
these sre my favorite type of short videos from Dr.Idriss, because you can see the exact brand she’s talking about & she’s almost always annoyed which is kinda funny and its a video with great insights when it comes to product formulations!
Yes, except, she doesn’t actually say what brand it is. I’m blind, so I can’t see what she’s holding up. I’m going to take a wild guess, that it’s probably from the ordinary? Or perhaps the Inkey list? I am currently using the 10% niacinamide from the Inkey list, with no problems, I am going to be searching for something with a lower percentage to swap it out for when this one is finished.
Stick to Cerave pm .. it has 4% niacinamide, hyalauronic acid and 3 types ceramides along with great moisturising ingredients.. multi product .. good for the skin and pocket
Hi Doc. I bought 3 products. They are Matrixyl 3000 10% serum ,Niacinamide 10% zinx 1% and super fade de pigment accelarator. Can i combine them together or just those Matrixyl and niciacinamide? Thanks for your answer
Do you have any tips for those of us who have already bought that one? Would it work to use it every other day until it runs out, or to use it on say the skin on our hands or body instead? 😊
My skin is already sensitive (and I’m most likely allergic) but it makes sense that my skin couldn’t handle this product. I’m glad you are talking about this because I feel like lots of people not education about formulas and the effect it has on the skin.
Thank you for saying this!!! Because so many of beauty brands use such high percentage of actives which then negate the point of the active and this especially harmful for skin with higher melanin ...so frustrating 😑 😒
It’s been perfectly fine for me- even with daily use. Haven’t broken out and I love what it’s done to my face- my face is brighter and even stoned. Also helped my hyperpigmentation 👌
I mix my 10% with another serum before applying so it ends up working out beautifully for me. So, I'm happy they have 10% for those that prefer to mix or for those that can tolerate it. Even using the 10% alone worked amazingly well for me.
Niacinamide is used to only control oil, which is why a lot of people with acne/oily skin find that it works best for them. It always removes the little fungal bumps i have on my forehead, and you’re supposed to use a few drops. Not more than that
Look, everybody's skin is different. My skin responds very well to this formula. And reading the comments, clearly I'm not the only one. There's plenty of other formulas under 10%. It's good to have variety so that every one can find something that suits their needs. Videos like this do not help. Someone might be scared to try it now when it actually might work for them.
@@lilycha9398sometimes you gotta try things yourself going to a dermatologist eliminate trying out new things, I’ve been to dermatologists since I was in middl school and everything they gave me made my acne and skin texture worse until I started doing things my way and figured what worked with my skin.
This is my 1st product from the ordinary brand. I was so scared to try it because i have a sensitive oily acne prone skin. And also this brand is expensive in here. But i used it and it was a game changer for me. I couldn't get niacinamide serum that has less than 10%. Niacinamide was not a famous in here and the only thing i can find was the ordinary one. So i tried it. My acne disappeared. Scars faded. Large pores are less visible. I'm still using it. I think it repaired my skin barrier that i ruined in my early 20's.. It was like a miracle for me. ❤
when i first used it, seemed great! but later on i kept getting those milia seed looking stuff on my face and i stopped using any products with niacinimide (regardless %)… too bad i’m oily skin and cant use it anymore 😭😭
I use Natuium 3% niacinamide. Reading usage of niacinames I myself felt 10% niacinamide would be too harsh and drying for my normal/dry mature complexion. A youtube dermatologist Dr. Anil Rajani recommended 3% niacinamide. Soil googled what brands and chose Naturium. Great ingredients. I use a few Naturium products
I didn't know this and I got it, but I've been using almost daily without any problems, so I'll finish the bottle because I can't bring myself to waste it
I ran out of that stuff a few months ago, my skin started glowing! Restocked it and immediately broke out sooo bad it was painful. Immediately returned the product and declared I’d never use it again. Thanks doc for helping me pinpoint my skin type and teaching the importance of formulation as well as consistency > intensity
You are sooo right doc this same product gave me the worst acne breakouts...Although, it's much more expensive now I m using proper skin care instead of raw actives without any ingredients to help my skin barrier to feel hydrated and healthy
She's absolutely right! When I used Niacinamide 10% (or 20%) in my face, in 24h my face became so oily, bumpy, irritated that I had no other choice but to stop using it. HOWEVER, it reaaaaally helped with my butt and back acne.
This product is heaven for my skin. Last year unfortunately I stopped using this and due also to the stressful period I got really bad hormonal acne. I had a small breakout only the very first time I used it years ago
what kind we do with that product if we are stick with it ? is there any benefit or purpose for it ? or should we just trash it ? I have the Paula’s choice niacinamide I believe it’s 20% 😳
My skin is at its best since I’ve been on this. I also combine it with their hyaluronic acid serum and use Olay retinol cream at night. Though it helps I’ve stopped breaking out since changing my diet as well. Also, can i mix the two serums I use 50/50, so that what I am adding to my skin is 5% niacinamide? My main goal is to fade acne scars and pigmentation and slow down early aging at 27 while having combo skin and deep pores.
This is sooo validating. I can’t use the niacinamide from the ordinary it is so irritating for me. I’m using up my bottle on my body now. It’s made me nervous about niacinamide in general but it’s nice to know it’s probably fine in smaller doses like in other products.
I wish I had of seen this before buying 10%. However I have extreme oily skin & using a pea size amount am & pm with no effect as of yet. When I use vitamin c at night over the niacinamide I do get a tingling feeling. My skin is looking good. Can't wait to finish what I bought so, I can use 5%. Brands to buy would be very much appreciated.
I have a question! I have this product and I feel like my skin wasn't the biggest fan, a bit reactive. But I don't want it to go to waste. Is there any wat to mellow it down or something and give it a bit of use? Like adding a drop to moisturiser or when doing a hydrating mask or something, so its less agressive and still does something.
*Can we use more than 5% if we don't have an adverse reaction to it? I use Paula's Choice 20% and it makes my skin glowy & super smooth! The 1st week, I purged slightly (I heard that's normal when you start using Niacinamide) but then it was amazing after*
I’ve been using this product for over 2 years, my acne skin prone loves it, I don’t have a sensitive skin just oily af, just like retinol some people find it too harsh. I understand that Doc it’s giving advice to general people and not particular cases
Thank you for this I was trying to figure out what was irritating my skin, and I didn't even consider this product because I thought this was an anti-inflammatory. Your videos are great. 😊
