Nicaragua's maternity homes provide community networks to save the lives of mothers and babies 

Among women who live in rural and remote areas, the long distances to hospitals equipped to assist pregnancies often force them to deliver their babies in their homes, with all the additional risks involved. In Nicaragua, public health authorities have developed a system to reduce these gaps by involving the community and local know-how: maternity homes.
