Youth raise awareness about therapeutic abortion to prevent maternal deaths 

Ucayali is the second Amazonian region with the highest maternal mortality rate in Peru, although many of the cases could be prevented with the application of sexual and reproductive education programs and the implementation of the therapeutic abortion protocol where necessary. Convened by the NGO Catholics for the Right to Decide (Católicas por el Derecho a Decidir), the Adolescent and Youth Oversight Committee (Comité de Vigilancia de Adolescentes y Jóvenes) is in place to guarantee these rights.
