whats the condition of the gonubie river? is it a healthier system than the nahoon and buffalo? i'm passing through EL this weekend and im hoping to wet a line
Gonubie definitely has less sewerage. Nahoon is full of sewerage but there os still plenty life. Lots of kob and grunter. Sadly poaching happening there daily. Guys stand on the batting bridge at night and rape the baby kob.
Assassin sabre medium light and a sahara 3000 with 15 or 20lb braid. Also had a Shimano slx and penn fierce which i sold. But the big fish destroyed my drags as you will see in future videos. Upgraded to carbontex washers for the Sahara and also assassin supernova medium light and vanford 3000 with 25lb black velvet.
@@FishingEasternCapeSA Thanks, what length rod are you fishing in the estuaries? I have a 7’ Shimano rod with a Daiwa BG 3000 with 25lbs braid, but it is not an ultralight rod (medium heavy).
@janpienaar1881 bud thats a lovely setup. Definitely on the heavier side for me. I would use that for these really bug fish. Definitely a rod setup for PSJ for instance. Local rives where i expect smaller fish i use lighter and cheaper tackle. Also have a 2500 aernos and a 6ft light assasin sabre which is perfect for east london rivers. I prefer 7ft rods.
@janpienaar1881 for me its medium light or even lighter when fishing bait. Fast action. 7ft or 7ft3 etc. extra tip action. For lures you have to use heavier rods like medium or medium heavy etc. But tackle selection is a very personal thing.
