To this day, Mike Tyson, Scarface, Jada Pinkett, pornstar Heather Hunter and others get emotional just talking about him. They've all literally cried in the middle of their interviews when he's brought up. That's how much he is still missed, 23 years on..
FireIceTalon It's also 50 Cent's favourite rap album. It just reached higher levels than anything else that came before it. Which is probably why it sold less copies than a more commercial album like All Eyez.
we all do. Ill say this as well.....by todays standards, 7 Day is an EAST COAST ALBUM. I think the fact that it holds up as an EXAMPLE of how the DOPEST trends always follow the best times
@@coleeason6007 it's not though is it, Tupac was good but let's be honest, it's kurt cobain fame, as not that many people bothered till he died, but I didn't mean his love for Tupac I just meant his volume
Blasphemy was his sickest song period. That song was beyond deep. 2pac basically wrote the holy bible using certain scriptures breaking down how he interpreted
Htown4life nawfside yes he did..he incorporated comparisons to himself to moses and jesus..to some they'd think he's speaking blasphemy but that's why pac is who he is becuz his life mirrored their lives ..blasphemy to me meant he wanted his thug life followers to blas-for-me. .speak the truth and stand in righteousness .
I love how the chorus says the opposite of what 2pac is saying in the verses(pac verses = anti religion and the chorus = pro religion). Or didnt I understand it correctly ?
So do we, Edmund Curlin. Smooth Bee was hyped that night. It was a sight to behold. Both Greg Nice & Smooth Bee provide similar insight when talking about making "Dwyck" With Gang Starr & "Sometimes I Rhyme Slow." Here's the link to check it out, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bWZwlobiWIk.html. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccess.
Edmund Curlin cause hes dead.....what u expect. ....there was no hype when he was alive....which proves this is just a tribute type shit.... many greater emcees with loads of greater albums/ lyrics we all know would shit on pac...especially this album.makaveli. ...FACTS BUT ONCE AGAIN. ..this is just due to respect cause hes dead ✌
The Makaveli album is like fine wine, it only gets better with time. I was born in 1999 so 2Pac was long dead before I was born. Due to my parents, I was raised around 2Pac's posthumous albums (Until The end of time) (Better Dayz). The one thing that I realized was that I didn't understand "Killuminati" as a little boy, but I'm 19 now and listening that album now, it makes more sense as I get older. That's the beauty of that album, there's so many relevant themes he talks about that are going around today. Out of all the albums, Makaveli is seriously my all time favorite.
The Bruce Lee and Pac comparison was crazy. The equivalency of movies to tracks scenes and quotes got me like 😵... I see his point, never looked at it like that, but I can see it clear...
True HipHop junkies! Yes that Bruce Lee comparison went through me. Smooth B is loud because it's evident how passionate he is about PAC and HipHop, period. Great interview.
Laure The Goddess, we're glad you enjoyed the interview. We thought the Bruce Lee comparison was on point, too. And, yes, Smooth Bee was very passionate. Thanks for supporting #BestAlbums & #UniqueAccess.
that was a good comparison between Pac and Bruce lee, they both evolved into the best they could be , but it's fucked up that they died so young , i don't think we seen half of what they would of been if they would have lived much longer , 2 of my favorites , R.i.p to Bruce and Pac
Real talk, been looking up to the 2 as role models and been doing the same comparison myself for while too. Good look. 2 GOATS of they time to forever. #SS #BC #UN #CPK
Agreed, lee. It would have been interesting to see how 2Pac & Bruce Lee would have evolved had they lived another 10 or 20 years each. Thanks for watching #BestAlbums & #UniqueAccess. We appreciate it.
The Makaveli album was like a movie, soundtrack to that movie, a documentary and sequel to All Eyez On Me, which was the second of a trilogy following Me Against The World... Those albums would come out and nothing else would get play in my ride for a good month, Pac CDs would take the number one spot in the six disc changer instantly...
Yeah, Genesis Barnes. Smooth Bee was so hyped during the interview. It was amazing being there. Thanks for watching #BestAlbums on #UniqueAccess. We appreciate it.
Spice Martin and that's real. I tell my people whenever that question comes up about which song hits the hardest on that album it's Hold Ya Head... I mean Damn it was absolutely Nathan Nice!! At All! lol
i feel u i change favorites from Makaveli album all the time but always come back to "hold ur head" n "against all odds" but let's not forget to live n die n la...me n my gurlfriend idk that whole album is just 🔥 STILL 21 years later just timeless
I have been saying it for yrs that makaveli was the best album. Everybody says All eyez on me but I disagree. Krazy was my favorite song, got me through so many hard times and it still do.
Jamal I TDK was Tupac's most accomplished work. Period. It even surpassed Me Against The World, because it swapped the R&B aural landscape of that album for haunting, dark beats infused with overtly religious overtones. The ominous bloodshot sky on the album cover, the liner notes, the eerie interludes scattered throughout, the deadly ending of the last track on the album ...it was just haunting, different even to it's dark contemporaries like Nocturnal, Hell On Earth, Temples of Boom, etc. Even the symbolism of Pac smashing the mirror at the end of the very last video he ever made - 7 years of bad luck. Just damn.
Its a brilliant album and shows a real maturity. If people say 2Pac isn't a lyricist I direct them to Me and My Girlfriend. It is a lyrical masterpiece. Hail Mary too. There's not a bad song on it. Krazy is one of my favourite songs.
Nice & Smooth is funky. They are some hip hop junkies because they got that slow flow, but sometimes they rhymes slow, sometimes they rhyme quick. They get funky for you with no delayin.
Tupac can't touch the God MC Rakim at all lyrically or flow wise nor did Tupac change the landscape for all rapper's and emcees and im not talking about subject matter or being in your emotions either im talking about the art form of being a rapper and emcee so Tupac isn't the greatest of all time...real talk 💯
I always feel like this, everywhere I go. When anybody tries to compare modern wack rappers to Pac, I lose it. If they try to compare some dickless maggot like Drake to him, I have to leave the building.
It's definitely one of the top-tier albums, akvalues. That's why it was great hearing Smooth Bee get so excited talking about it. Thanks for watching & supporting #BestAlbums on #UniqueAccess.
Maxavilli is seriously not the greatest hip-hop album of all time in the hip-hop culture,,Rakim's Paid In full album rakim changed the hip-hop culture period, Tupac didn't do that..know you hip-hop history bro..rakim just wrote a book called sweat the technique..so and check it out
@TheJblacc59 paid in full charged the entire landscape for all rapper's and emcees period and we not talking about emotions,we are seriously talking about the art form of rapping and emceeing and Tupac seriously didn't do that because Tupac is seriously not the lyricst and he didn't have the flow patterns that rakim has and your seriously forgetting that Tupac had to double up on his lead tracks to get people to feel what he was saying and rakim seriously never had to do that at ever and as far as the hip hop culture art form goes for rapper's and emcees you seriously can't put Tupac in the same class as rakim because Tupac wasn't a lyricst he was a good rapper who drew you in with his subject matter...so again paid in full is seriously the album that changed the landscape for all rapper's and emcees period..real talk 💯
That's crazy, right, IRA Fletcher? 2Pac was just 25. He accomplished quite a bit in a very short time. Thanks for watching #BestAlbums on #UniqueAccess.
This interview wasn't long enough. I will never forget when Nice said he seen Pac outside his house looking up in the sky. That told me right then and there more than I could ever imagined. If you peep the lil things that build up to big things. Then you already know the future if we don't get our shit together.
It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back is the greatest Hip Hop album of all time. Rakim/Nas/Kool G. Rap/Big Daddy Kane are light years beyond Pac lyrically.
@TheJblacc59 No living rapper is relevant forever. If Pac were still alive, he wouldn't be relevant today either, unless he went full throttle with his acting. His death immortalized him. Pac didn't personally give me a different perspective on anything. He didn't rap about anything that I hadn't already heard.
I always say, people who keep saying PAC is overrated because one player hating, overrated artist said so, don't understand music. They don't understand music from an artistic point of view. Pac was a conscious rapper, his style was uniquely different from any other rapper, it had to be, cause it was all about the message. He did it in such a beautiful way that u got hooked and wana listen to him everyday, that's why he's the #goat
Thanks for the passionate post, lesley kamtukwata. You made a lot of great points. 2Pac delivered some powerful messages, to be sure. Thanks for watching & supporting #BestAlbums on #UniqueAccess.
Pac is overrated. Most of his worshippers/fans are in their 20's. The majority of Hip Hop heads who grew up in his era don't consider him the GOAT. I've been listening to Hip Hop for over 30 years, I have heard WAY better.
@@LibraVibez people love pac because he appeals to emotions, you can listen to different songs and all give you several different emotions and vibes, but who are some of your favorites?
@@LibraVibez Thats false. And i can really tell you only say that just to try and justify your point. Most people who consider pac the GOAT are from his era.
@@ssbashalot7324 That's a lie. I'm in my 40's and no one in my age group who I communicate with on the regular considers him the GOAT. A co-worker and myself were just talking about this the other day. Before I even expressed my opinion on Pac, he was saying how Pac never did anything for him lyrically and he's 56. I have had this conversation with several people over the years and it's the same thing. Most people in their 40's and up list Rakim, KRS-One, Kool G. Rap, LL, BDK etc. I have even heard people in my age group say that Lauryn Hill is a better lyricist. Most of Pac's hard-core fans weren't even alive when his first album came out. Lol. This is why I for the most part try to stay out of Pac threads, because I feel silly going back and forth with 20 somethings.
greg nice looks sad thinking about pac because pac was his dude man he send him tickets to fly out to LA in 96 to stay with him pac really look out for his brothers
Agreed, AMARUGEE. It was great seeing them talk so passionately & with such insight about 2Pac. Thanks for watching & supporting #BestAlbums on #UniqueAccess.
Rakim's paid in full album which changed the entire hip-hop culture for all rappers and emcees including 2pac,follow the leader, let the rhythm hit em and don't sweat the technique...those are 4 consecutive albums vs 2pacs 3....go and check out rakim's new book called sweat the technique and get a true lesson in the culture of hip-hop
@@vernonjohnson997 I have great respect and admiration for the legendary rakim and I still feel paid in full is one of the five greatest hip hop albums ever But that was his only masterpiece the other three albums were good but not exceptional in my opinion MATW, all eyes on me and 7 day theory were three masterpiece albums done in a two year span dont think any rapper has three consecutive better albums
@@mikegillins4992 all of rakims albums with Eric B are hip hop classic and rakims albums of let the rhythm hit em was the first hip hop album to get a perfect 5 mic classic.....and when he comes to skill set on the open mic, without talking about killing another black man Tupac can't touch rakim at all...so like rakim said with the know the ledge classic track you need to sip the juice homie..real talk 💯
That probably gets our vote, too, Old Turntables. Rising Portland rapper Mic Capes picked that for his "Best Albums" episode. Here's the link, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--f6dedb0Cv4.html. Let us know what you thinks. Thanks.
Thanks Unique. That was a good take on my fav Tupac album. Mic Capes basically spoke for me on the subject, I really agree with alot of what he said about "Me against the world." I think its Tupacs best work because it's the deepest Tupac work ever. Also its not connected to anything meaning there's no throwing up the record label or any diss tracks,,just solid music which is always my favorite. There are no distractions that take away from the album even though he was in jail at the time. Each track has it's own sound and is placed on the album strategically at the right time to compliment the next song. "So many tears" is my favorite and I remember being at the "Freak Nic" in 95 you would have through the GA welcoming committee passed this CD out at the border because that is all you heard from every car. That deep bass intro captures you and the "That Girl" horn by Stevie Wonder is on time. Temptations, Lord knows,Death around the corner, and one of my other favorites "old school." The pipe organ and Brand Nubian sample,,perfect. This is Pac's signature work in my opinion.
Great "Me Against The World" analysis, Old Turntables. We agree. Although it isn't 2Pac's most famous work, it is his signature project. Thanks for the support.
man watching this interview just makes me miss him even more. I was 1 when he died I didn't even know who he was, how much of an impact he had on this generation. I was born in Vietnam and now living in Canada, who would have thought that I'll be into hip-hop. I think it was meant to be, just like Tupac was meant to use hip-hop as a platform to talk about what was going on. Not only was he a talented artist but he was a great human overall. He changed the face of hip-hop forever and I'm forever going to be his fan, long live to the one and only King of hip-hop.
There is no better album in my opinion. Pac's confidence was amazing. After a 5 million selling double album like All Eyez On Me, most rappers would've stuck to the same formula and same producers. Instead he wrote & recorded "Killuminati: The Seven Day Theory" in 3 days (mixed in 4), with mostly unknown producers & sold another 5 mill! This album was a dramatic change from the g-funk of All Eyez..AEOM was a great gangsta rap album, but this was Panther Pac not Gangsta Pac. To me this is the truest version of him because of the socio economic and political themes throughout. After the demise of Public Enemy in the early 90s, this was probably the only conscious rap album that went multi platinum and it is still one of Death Row's best sellers.
He had already planned to move in that direction. All Eyez On Me was basically celebrating Pac's freedom from jail. Pac spoke about how he wanted to go back to focusing on social topics again, like he did in his early albums, trying to uplift the struggling and discriminated, with a new maturer outlook. The Makaveli albu. was a move in this direction. Its so tragic we didn't get to see where Pac was going after the Makaveli album, which is such a great album.
Greg got shook with that Bruce Lee analogy. It was on point. 2pac’s lyricism was beyond deep. You gotta have a higher IQ of the streets/politics/world issues/social issues ect ect all to comprehend his lyrics & emotion behind his lyrics. Example on a song like how do u want it(a club/strip club joint) he sneaked social & politics in the song. Almost no one can do that without sounding preachy to you.
I've never heard another album in Hip Hop that combined a seamless blending of production (each track bleeds into the next) with so many deep and spiritual tracks. Hail Mary, Blasphemy, Krazy, White Man's World, Hold Ya Head, even Against All Odds. These were Pac's most honest songs. The only way the album could've been even deeper is if his brilliantly introspective joint "Reincarnation" had been on it, and of course Lost Souls, Starin' Thru My Rearview, Thug Nature and Friends. Apart from Dana Dane's "Chester" single of 1995, I can't think of any other mainstream rapper bringing up child abuse in his songs - Blasphemy touches on it (no pun) and the Church's abhorrent complicity in it.
7 day theory might of been Pac best album so many elements and layers to it...hailmary was on a whole different level, live and die was a great tribute song, against all odds and first to bomb were the ultimate diss tracks...just like daddy was for the chicks, toss it up was for the club's (first verse for the chicks second verse for getting at Dre, only Pac can pull that off) crazy and hold ya head were inspirational and I'm not sure if I ever heard a more spiritual gem than blasphemy...pac save his best work for last!!!
Mike Gillins I'll have to give Me against the world the slight edge. He also has a gang of unreleased songs that are better than his released ones. I fibd a new Pac song on the internet everyday.
Yes, Guy Destin. That's one of the goals of our #BestAlbums series, to get artists to show their appreciation for others. It was great watching Smooth Bee, in particular, pay homage to 2Pac. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccess.
to be honest, it felt like pac was possessed on this album. Its fucking errie. My favourite line ''Should we cry when the pope dies, my request we should cry if they cried when we buried Malcom X'' and this ladies is gentlemen, is why we should never even compare Tupac to biggie, who if was still alive, would have fell the fuck off like eminem (Can rhyme words for days, but not very relatable).
Real talk and how about the line where he says the preacher wants me buried why? Because I know he’s a liar have you ever seen a crackhead that’s eternal fire shit was just deep.
You can't compare Biggie to anyone even Eminem... Biggie is way more unique and creative than any other rapper... if dude had one gift it was creativity and that was a guarantee he will still be relevant till forever .. he didn't rely on lyrics only... dude was ghostwriting for multiple acts and he made them hot....
@@dro2real836when he talks about the preacher, you can hear come here boy. We all know about the priests molesting boys People don't talk about that. Pac really tore that song up
@@sologj yes I’ve always paid attention to that that particular ad lib. stuck out to me because you can also hear at that point in the song what sounds like a garment being ripped or torn.
Agreed, Hold This L. Debarge. We remember being very surprised when we heard it the first time. Thanks for watching & supporting #BestAlbums on #UniqueAccess.
Mike Gillins yeah man a lot of Pac fans and critics have no concept of what Pac was really talkn bout. That's why idiots is constantly claiming they'd out rap him or saying he had no bars
This album was way ahead of it's time ! The album is literally a Hip Hop rubix cube of knowledge and Easter eggs lol .... Pac was on something else when making this O-o

Makaveli dropped while I was was finishing Navy boot camp in Great Lakes Illinois. My sister (1yr younger) brought the tape with her for me to hear when her and my mother came to my graduation from boot camp. I didn't even know it was out. I thought my sister was lying. The album cover blew me away. It set the tone for the album itself. Like: did these words get him killed? Probably the greatest Hip Hop album ever! Considering the atmosphere of him just getting violently murdered. I had goose bumps all over me when I was first listening to Makaveli. It was kinda haunting.
I can still remember listening 2 this album in my big bruh blue Chevy with them 15's in da back. Had everybody wondering did he actually pass away. U can kill a man but cannot destroy energy. #LifeAsAOutlaw
Makaveli was Erie as fuck, it was like he was speaking from the Spiritual realm after life... For a lack of a better word is was scary, we use to turn the lights off and listen to it, I have never did that before and never did it sense... First time I felt like the World didn't have much time left while listening to that album... Truely the best album ever!!! Pac got the opportunity to take the Rap game to its highest heights and that's when the game died, the last time it was Real... Makaveli is one album that I can't listen too on the regular, it's an album that takes a lot of emotion to listen too... Sometimes words can be deminished but when Pac speaks I realize how special it is and never take it lightly... Gr8 interview, would love to heat way more from them brothaz...
That's a powerful comment, William W. Thanks for sharing. It is definitely a powerful album on so many levels. We're glad you enjoyed #BestAlbums. Thanks for watching #UniqueAccess.
Don killuminati the best album ever written in hip hop history!! smooth saying the enter the dragon he cold for that. Hit it right on the head I was tellin my boys that album feel like pac Was possessed with the souls of all the greatest!! that nigga wordplay on that album was tear worthy he was toooooo nice!! R.I.P. don makaveli thee 🐐
Yeah, The Observer. It was great being on set & seeing Smooth Bee get hyped up like that. Thanks for watching & supporting #BestAlbums on #UniqueAccess.
Big was nice but PAC had that passion . B.I.G just wanted the money glad he could take care of his people . PAC loved the ART and so much that it stressed him and pushed him to death.
Interesting perspective, TheBTranz. 2Pac's passion was definitely off the charts. Why do you think Biggie just wanted the money? Thanks for watching #BestAlbums & #UniqueAccess.
Unique Access Ent. Child on the way 1st. everything else fell under that and he wanted to make legit money. He knew just like every smart hustler out here knows it catches up with you and its stressful . You can make it look good but its stressful he wanted out and he made it .
Unique Access Ent. That's all his interviews are about, "making money to feed my daughter". He got stuck on that cliche and murdered before he got a chance to grow.
TheBTranz. I like how u put that. Perfect words for a black MAN who been there, done that. U just made a helluva true Statement. Not ust about Biggie, but to a Real black man. A LOT of people will let this fly over their head.
Rueben Avila see black people confusion me. First they call for help but when they got one they said that boy stack on history shit but if they support they own people the world be different today but that's impossible cause white people know they shit and they will never except equal live cuase they fight for this for a very long time.
man this was a great answer like I really messed with this interview I definitely feel everything in that Bruce Lee the compare it where he was talking about Makaveli was entering the Dragon that is fuckin dope
Valentino Griffiths I was feeling that comparison too lolll...enter the dragon was Bruce Lee biggest movie and although 7 day theory wasn't Pac biggest album it may have been his best!!!
The Makaveli album was/is a complete masterpiece!! Not many projects have come close even after all the decades later. My favorite body of work to this day from any rapper!
its funny because i always thought Toss it up didn't belong on that album (who am i to question Pac if he put it there). I wonder if he had that song as part of the original plan to release...As far as the album being one of Pacs best- I think when you put all of the elements in context that came forth on that piece of art- I would have to agree...I remember when i first heard it- there was nothing that sounded like it EVER to that point. I think of all of Pacs albums - I probably played that one the most...It's amazing to me what the producers were able to do to give that album its finishing touches with Pac gone...Blasphemy has always been a song that I consider one of the illest songs ever made. "we probably in hell already- are dumb asses not knowing everybody kisses ass to go to heaven aint going". If that line didnt hit you then (respectfully) you need to research religion AS A WHOLE including its entire history...Pac was in his "red" stage- we should have protected him so he could reach his "Malcolm X" stage...
Thanks for the comment & for the insight John Foster. You bring up a lot of great points. It would have been interested to see how 2Pac would have evolved. Thanks for the support.
John Foster Toss It Up was not originally planned for the album - Pac wanted 95% spiritual, dark tracks with just a sliver of sunshine in the form of To Live and Die in L.A. After he passed, Suge instructed the mixers to add it to the album to enhance it's pop appeal, ultimately to prop up sales. Suge was never interested in the real type of art Pac was creating, that's why Pac himself said he only did All Eyez to keep him happy, and regarded TDK as "his" project. That's what he told Scarface just before his death anyway.
original mixtape track list (The 3 Day Theory was supposed to be just a free street dropped mixtape) before Suge made it an official released album is: 1. Bomb First 2. Hail Mary 3. Krazy 4. Watch Ya Mouth 5. To Live & Die in L.A. 6. Friends 7. Blasphemy 8. Hold Ya Head 9. Lost Souls 10. White Mans World 11. Niggaz Naturr 12. Against All Odds 13. Thugz Cry 14. Outtro
2pac's persona Makaveli was a darker style the beats he rap'd over too where so to say darker, even the bootleg Makaveli album's tracks pac style is different, the one nation album was still that Makaveli engery
