The Financial Division in Safety & Emergency Services oversees billing for each Sunstar ambulance transport, as well as the finances for the rest of the department. To meet rising costs and changes in the healthcare industry, the financial services team changed their process in fiscal year 2023 with the goal of increasing collections by 5%. Instead, they collected more than double that, collecting on 80% of claims, the highest of any major ambulance service in the country. That helps keep tax rates low and enhance patient care.
