She literally almost had me falling out of my chair. So damn good! I love her different, vocal, tonal qualities that she was playing around with, especially at the end, it added so much interest and so much feeling to her performance. This girl is a star!

Must be honest: I've only ever heard this song sung by the late, great Whitney Houston -- recorded decades ago. And I have to say, this rendition was just as equally beautiful and powerful and gave a completely fresh perspective. What an incredible talent you are, Nichelle.

I have always loved the song. It reminds me when I was 3 years old and my grandmother. Helped me learn how to walk after I had surgery on my legs. It is a beautiful song. I saw her in the San Francisco run of the show and she’s FANTASTIC. I must say that they definitely RAISED the key on Dorothy’s songs (she is vocally in the stratosphere 85% of the time)… and Ms. Lewis absolutely holds her own. She will be a front runner for the Tony Award…

Not very specific with the storytelling but she’s talented. This was a beautiful and clean rendition. Clean riffs, clean runs, just a little general with the storytelling for me. Felt like a vocal showcase rather than Dorothy’s summation of her life in Oz. Maybe it’s nerves. Either way kudos for her to making it

Saw her live twice in the wiz incredible. I’ll be honest I think she sounds a little strained here probably the overwhelming amount of shows she’s been doing on tour and then broadway. If you get the chance to see her live do it absolutely worth it!

Nice voice, but this song, which is essentially one big crescendo that builds and builds, did not have the same impact with her stylistic choices. She needs to be more patient with this song and not give away the punch until the real climax of the song.

Anytime I hear this, I can’t help but compare it to a 13 year old Jazmine Sullivan (whom in my opinion, has the best version of this song). With that being said, she did a good job, I just feel it’s missing something. What that something is, I can’t quite tell. She’s still angry fantastic vocalist though who did a great job. Although I can’t see it on broadway, I’d love to see her perform this in context

She has a great voice and incredible control. But she was thinking about the vocal gymnastics and not really being the character, like Stephanie or Whitney. She can, if she'd trust her voice, let that go (and let go of the mic, too!) and focus on the story. Easier said than done. And I'm sure she was nervous to be on Jennifer's show. She has a great future.
