As mentioned, Nicholas did not give the order to fire on Bloody Sunday but he didn't know about it and could not have stopped it because he was in Tsarskoe Selo 30 miles away in the Alexander Palace. He was incredibly upset when he learned of the deaths. His location and his reactions are well documented.
The film clip that begins this, supposedly by Lumère in 1896, film of the coronation, ist totally incorrect. Why? Because the 5 children were not born then, but here in the film, Are the 4 girls and Alexei. this film was from the 1913 tercentary anniversary of the Romanov dynasty. On that occasion, all 5 children were present, even Alexei-- who could not walk after his close call at Spala in 1912.
Nicholas II, managed to prove himself to be incompetent long before the arrival of Rasputin on the scene. He really didn't need Rasputin's (or anyone else's) help in destroying Russia; he did a great job of it all on his own.
He was a tragic leader that was ignorant and unwilling. The fall of the Romanovs was not entirely his fault but he can hardly be considered even a decent leader. But people who consider him a dictator are severely mistaken.
My husband is a Stuart Tudor through James 1/6 & Mary Queen of Scots we are actually 9th cousin once removed due to my ancestry plantagenet and European royal families Nicholi II is our cousin & This story always haunted me so sad tragic and evil socialist rulers murdered them created gulags and did Mass arrests like the Nazis, but all their evil Deeds are now known, and the good people of Russia welcomed them back home the romanoffs and they are now buried in their Homeland. God bless them forever and the good people that are responsible for bringing them home. America, Russia, Israel England Europe believe it or not they are friends and allies this includes Saudi Arabia, China South Korea Etc any evil that's done internationally eventually gets found out and the evil people suffer in this life and the next. The royal families preserved civilized life including the Saudi Arabian royal families they are mostly very good people yes you will get some bad royals here and there but for the most part they devote their lives to public service and they risk their very lives as this family did. We should be very grateful to any royal family that is ruling righteously on this planet and has in the past done so yes this includes the Saudi Arabian family because they are good and trying to help with peace in the Middle East. In Iran in 1979 the royal family was so beautiful and it's sad that they are not still ruling there. God bless them and God bless all the people that God himself puts in control of governments Etc to try to make the world a better place for the most least citizen on the planet to the richest. That is really the goal of nobility not just to sit around and get rich. That's socialist propaganda and don't listen to it because socialism fails just like Venezuela and everywhere else it never works! In socialism the people that create the system become very wealthy and they could care less about the poor, with royal families they very much care about their subjects and love them like their own children and make sure that they are well fed and happy this may sound crazy but it is the truth historically speaking except people like Henry the 8th LOL who went crazy and a few of them like that but even Henry the 8th has his good points LOL the plantagenet get a bad rap they are my direct ancestors & they created Parliament and the House of Commons and did a lot of good anyway hopefully real historians will appreciate this comment :-)
"The tsar nor his family was attacked during his reign" Nicholas was almost killed in Japan in 1891! He received the Ōtsu scar on his forehead afterwards.
It's not Grandfather's fault, Russia was in civil war, Grandfather's Cousin in England did something too late .. but there is me, Kaiser Tsar Matthew of Prussia and France 2, the Tsar ..
Nicholas was a kind and gentle man, a wonderful husband and father. He was, however, ignorant, in denial and indecisive. If he would have died in, say 1914, I think he would have gone down in history as a moderately successful Tsar.
also I think they kept rasputen on because in Edvard Razinskys book " Rasputan ," many people from siberia used live cows blood, like a transfusion, so that the blood could clot, so thats maybe way they kept Rasputin, just a thought, now I'm reading Alexander 1,Nicholas 1 and the crimean war :) thanx for sharing these wonderful videos
@ 7:00 into video, when I heard it said that Nicholas II and George VI were ''like two sides of the same coin'', I beg to disagree. King George shut his ill son, Prince John away, where as Czar Nicholas treated his ill son like GOLD. George was an asshole who was gruff and yelled at his children, giving them complexes, stomach ulcers, stammers, etc. Nicholas was a kind, gentle and doting father to ALL of his children. George even hollered at Queen Mary, who was also a German Princess, but Nicholas would NEVER have treated his wife that way. George always said he'd be there for his cousin and BFF, but I'm guessing that on July 16, 1918, Nicky stopped ''feeling the love''. Nicholas would have died trying to save his extended family from danger. These two men could NOT be MORE different. Nicholas was honorable, a soft-spoken gentleman and George was a scuzz-crack and a DICK-FACE!!! Ahh, I feel much better. :)
and how many jews died by the aristocratic pogroms in Tsarist Russia? maybe a personal move? and N II wasn't so real russian, he was like his wife quite german blooded
his children survived ( at least girls, two or one of them,no im not talking about stupid anna anderson, or other freaks ) but tsar and tsarina were in fact ritualy murdered
You should read your history better, the reason why Nicholas' rule failed is because he was too gentle on his people and sent hours replying to peasants letters. Had he been tougher and crueler he would have survived.
Leave the Romanov's alone Tsar Nicholas II was a kind and gentle man and he never wanted to be Tsar in the first place that I do know Tsar Nicholas II R.I.P Forever in our hearts and our thoughts I would have loved to have met him s he reminds me of myself
@ Lich King, don't get me wrong I'm a fan of the Romanovs but the communists only ever got sent to Siberia for treason, even the USA and UK would have hung Stalin and Lenin for treason.
Reactionary Lion my ass he was. He fucking starved his people. Its like the sha of iran. They lives luxurious life style and the people were suffering and poor. There is no room for a king in a country where most people are poor. This is why the USA and Uk support royal family in middle east and this why the radicals roam the streets. In russia's case. Those radicals were communist.
Oh, but it was the Tsarina who influenced him too much, no? He was a lovely man and a family man. And the powers of evil against him were long planned, I think.
