My little girl turned 30 today. We celebrated last week when she was in town but that's not the same. Not a day goes by where I don't feel this way. My little boy turns 33 in 2 weeks. When he was born, "Cats In The Cradle" by Harry Chapin was the song that sent me into tears. This captures even more of that bittersweet feeling. I sit here crying knowing that while I have awesome relationships with my kids and they are accomplishing great things in life, I do sometimes wish indeed that they could have "slowed down". I thank you for this incredible song and the unconditional love it portrays.

I remember when I was little and I asked my mom if I could stay with her forever and never move out. Even though you will eventually grow up and want to move out, you'll always remember being a kid and loving your mom so much you never wanted to leave, and she'll remember it too, and they'll be memories to cherish forever. I'm a mom now, and if my daughter tells me she wants to stay with me forever, I'll be really happy even though I know she's going to grow up and get tired of her mom and want to move out. I'll be happy because it's a beautiful memory to have.

You are in my prayers as a mama to 3. My oldest is now in 11th grade and I remember back when I was young. It seems like yesterday. I remember not wanting ot grow up as it seemed so scary to me. But now I'm walking beside my children going through the same things, holding their hands but allowing them to grow. The years go by so fast and just know that you start every day with a single step. You do not need to jump. Just step forward. Little by little. And also know we mamas love it when even our older children just want to be held and sung to. That's where the blessings of being a parent come from 🤗 God bless!

My older cousin just used this for a video of her baby's first year. I had never heard it before that. I'm 15 and sobbing my eyes out. After finishing freshman year, I quickly realized I only have 3 years until graduation. Then what? I wish I could slow down, and be with my parents longer. All those days of being 5, 6, 7 when all I wanted to do was grow up, that's all over. If I could fall asleep in my mom's arms like I did for the first four years of my life, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I didn't know it then, but at age eight, I had it all. Worry free and ready to take on the world. Now I'm too grown up for everything I used to love, the stress is real, and nothing seems simple. Nothing is familiar and the future is scary. Anyone with me? Edit: I love how people are asking for an update now 💜 I graduated high school in June of 2021, and I just started college this fall. I’m an education major. I still miss the past-right now, I feel like I am just tumbling through life. I think more people need to say that it’s okay if you don’t really like college that much. It doesn’t have to be “the best four years of your life.” Right now, I feel like I’m in that stage of life when I just want to be in those years when you settle into a routine; I want a degree, a job, a home, a family, and a little stability. I know that’s easier said than done haha, and I’m sure when I’m in line at preschool drop off for the umpteenth time I’ll be wishing for a little mix up in life. But right now, it’s something new every time things start to feel a little bit normal.

Congratulations on your wedding Kevin! I’m not sure if you two plan to have a family someday or not. It’s a very personal decision that isn’t right for everyone. I will tell you though, that you will never be able to fully grasp or comprehend how much your parents love you until the first time you hold your 1st born in your arms. There are many people that you will love in your life. Your parents, siblings, friends, especially your spouse. But the moment that little hand grabs hold of your pinkie is the moment you get to learn what it means to love someone unconditionally. i’m not a parent, but i’m sobbing. i’m about to be 14, and my mom passed away 2 years ago. this song makes me think about how much she loved me and now she won’t be here anymore to see me grow up. i was a miracle baby, and my parents didn’t think they would be able to have a child at all until they had me. she would have loved to see the person i am becoming, and it’s a shame that she isn’t here with me anymore. i love you so much mom, i hope you’re doing ok up there ❤️

I have a 13yo. girl, who came from our 3rd round of IVF & an 11yo. boy who was a HUGE (but VERY wanted!) surprise! I just had my first baby september 14th, a girl, it is true time flies by starting the day they are born. One day they're born then the next day they're already six months old. They grow so quickly. My advice cherish every moment, the good, the bad, and the ugly. They're only little once. And take LOTS of pictures.

Granny's are a gift from God. I miss mine too ! Gran and papa brought us up as mum was so I'll. I became a born again Christian through going to Sunday School, saying the sinner's prayer and mostly because I saw Jesus in her. Thank God for wonderful grandparents. Notice they've got the word grand in front of their titles. That's because their great !

I'm laying here with my babe and I was singing worship songs to her just like my mom and I got to do when I was little when I found this song. She passes away in april from breast cancer and never got to see her grandbaby. So I'm a mother with her daughter and a Daughter without her Mother and this song made me SOB.

Whenever I feel like ugly crying this is my go to song...lol Actually when ever I need a reminder of how Life is to short ...to Slow down with my kids because it's been a hard day...I listen to this song. Nicole, all your music has been the soundtrack to my life since the day I accepted Christ, Since I lost my daughter's dad to suicide. Our beautiful daughter grew up listening to you. Then I remarried and now have two beautiful little boys. One of which was diagnosed with a rare type of epilepsy. Your music has helped get through all those good and bad moments in life and has brought me all the more closer to God. You are a blessing, Thank you!

It really makes you think of how blessed I am to have my mom in my life. No I wasn't always the best child to her but she still kept putting up with me. She is not perfect and parenting is not easy but I have had such a blessed childhood. And now being 20 years old in college she is still taking care of me. I love my mom and I am thankful for her. And you know what too, even though my dad is not in my life I love him too and I can't wait to see him on earth and if not then in heaven. But I'd love to see him on earth

Totally understand that my baby girl which is what i call my little cousin just turned 7 i still remember the day she was born and when my papa was still here life was easier then now you get made fun of for everything that you wear, say, do, dont do my freshman year of high school i was made fun of for not knowing what someone was talking about bc it was drugs and i wont ever lay a finger on them ik more about it now and i can act like ive done it but i still dont know everything. And my oldest brother lives in Arizona now we barely talk or even see each other I just wish it was back to simpler times

Someone threw a rock and hit me between the eyes with this one. The culprit was my daughter who just had a young one of her own. Time can be cruel, but with it fashion amazing melancholy. I miss and cherish her youth and know that we gave her the tools to be a decent human being and a loving mother. If you ever read this dear daughter, thank you for being such a blessing to your old dad who could never slow down.

One day (if) when you welcome your own little one into the world and they put them into your arms for the 1st time, this will be the moment that you will finally realize just how much your mom loves you & you will feel guilty for every tear you made her shed! 😂 I’m joking with that last part! But really, until then, you know she loves you, you think you know how much, & you think you understand the meaning of unconditional love but until that moment, you really don’t have the capacity to understand a love that large! (I’m sure it’s exactly the same for fathers as well. I just can’t speak from experience there.)
