Legendary comic writing, acting & timing. These two have never been replicated by another comedy duo. Many have tried.... many have failed. This comic genius at its highest level....
When she calls him Arthur I can't help but think of their most brilliant sketch where Elaine is the mother and Mike (as Arthur) is her space scientist son who "never calls." "I sat by that phone all day Friday, all day Saturday and all day Sunday...." etc. The brilliance of Mike and Elaine will never be seen again. Thank god we have videos of them.
Back when cars were cars. 420 cu in engine. Semis are about the only vehicles that have those today. Nichols says you save 5 cents a gallon driving the Tempest. That means you still had to pay 25 cents a gallon. Damn. And the trunk. You could lay a horse down in that. Love the sound of the hood when closed. Sounds like Nichols is closing the door on a tin barn. None of that environmental crap to choke the overall performance of the Pontiac. The Pontiac delivered full performance, regardless of who got emphysema. But since everyone smoked, it did not matter then.
I can't tell if those are palm trees (indicating LA) or bare trees in Fall/Winter, but the location footage sure looks like Jackson Park in Chicago; they were, for a long time, fixtures of the Chicago comedy scene.
