It's generally interesting to observe how roles between siblings can reverse forth and back, where the younger one can also assume the role as a kind of "older brother". I gather that sometimes that also could have been true for these Brothers. Anyway, two inspiring men.

Jon has ALWAYS been one of my favorite actors! I now hold a very high respect for him as a PERSON! One who has PLENTY of cash, PLENTY of extra leisure time, PLENTY of show biz fame and PLENTY of whatever it is he wants! Yet he decided to start up a RU-vid channel to conduct REAL sit down’s with REAL talks about REAL topics that we as humans and society as a whole, regardless of one’s financial or social status NEEDS to hear! MUCH LOVE Jon! And btw, your little brother is a true HERO!

For what it's worth, man...I get more excited to support actors when I know that they're decent people. This shows just how genuine you are and that makes me buy you MORE as Frank, Sam, etc. I'd rather hear you talk about where you come from and how you think than you be one of those guys who is constantly splashed everywhere in the media out dressed to the nines for every single event just to keep yourself in the public eye. Your work speaks for itself and anyone who would allow you being a hardworking dude from a good family to impede their enjoyment of your work...well, sounds like they were looking for a reason not to watch you for starters.

When you first released the trailer for this podcast, this was the episode I was most looking forward to. As someone who works in healthcare, with many oncology and chronic pain condition patients, I totally feel what Nick is saying about being upfront, finding the balance between positivity/faith and reality, and witnessing the incredible strength and resilience of people. I loved the comment Nick made that finding your career or your path is about what you're willing to take on. My niece is alive today after a three year battle with cancer because of amazing doctors like Nick, and that is what inspired me to move in the direction I have, and continues to inspire me everyday. I think we all help each other heal, and possibly save lives, no matter what we do. We all have purpose, even when we don't see it. I'm someone who also has CPTSD, and you portraying that aspect of the Punisher so well helped me to feel seen in ways I've felt invisible for years, which is so damn important. It starts greater conversations, just like you're doing with this podcast series. At the end of the day, people just need a connection to help them feel seen, and real conversations is a huge part of that. Keep it up, man, you're inspiring so many. Big love

This was an incredible conversation. I am a cancer survivor, I have been a caregiver through my 2 best friends' cancer deaths, and I am a social work researcher who works with cancer and life-limiting disease. And this is the best conversation I've heard about the narrative of working in healthcare, working in oncology, and the state of healthcare in the US that I've heard. I'm sending it to all my research colleagues. People ask me all the time why and how I can surround myself in cancer and still function, and I have a hard time explaining that it's a gratifying honor. But Nick - you explain that so well. We cancer survivors are the most grateful human beings you will ever meet. We know gratitude in a way others have no idea about. Looking forward to ASCO for my yearly dose of hope.

the part where nick talks about his patients especially how strong they really are despite being so young reminds me of this one photo i saw on twitter of a kid with terminal illness going to a beach for the first and the last time in his life which was his dream and he got to spend it with family. i remember the way he smiled so brightly and i cried so fucking hard over this one photo. it just makes me realize how kids are so amazing, their heart is full of purity and courage. so when nick brings up his stories dealing with the children and their family i get a little teary ngl. nick, you are so so amazing and thank u for sharing your stories to us with such compassionate and insightful perspectives! and thank u jon for hosting such an amazing conversation. looking forward to the next episode. much love from thailand ❤️

Man this video hits home all too well. My grandpa and uncle passed around two years ago and the situation Jon's brother was in was the same situation my mother was in. She had to tell my grandmother that my grandpa had stage 4 cancer and he wasn't going to make it. She had to handle all of the doctors and the paperwork and the craziness of that situation and every single day I put myself in her shoes. And man I really respect Jon's brother for the way he says things to his patients. We practically had to force the words "your grandfather has cancer or your dad has cancer" out of the doctors mouth and that fuckin hurt man. Badly. I would always put myself in my grandpa's shoes and it really sort of did me in and screwed with my own mind. I've been messed up ever since physically and mentally. Cancer destroys a lot of families. It is a rough experience I do not wish on anyone. I pray that those who have it continue to be able to live long lives and that they recover.

I can't believe I just found out about your channel. Finding authenticity in a person isn't hard. Assholes, liars, and fakes can't help but expose themselves. So seeing real people share real stories and experiences fills my heart. You chose the right name for your cast. As a person that see someone on screen portraying characters, you become a fan and create a bit of an attachment to that actor or person on screen. It makes it even sweeter when that person turns out to be a genuine soul off screen. So I'll continue to follow homeboy. Keep doing what you do. I've heard you talk about your brother in interviews and I love that you had him on the cast. It's all love and I dig it with a shovel. PEACE...

Before I started this episode, I thought nick was gonna be real quiet. But nick you’re a total badass. There are a lot of doctors who just sugarcoat things and that is more terrifying I feel like. So I’m really glad that you’re transparent with your patients and I know they really appreciate it. It was refreshing to really hear your experiences and to be honest you were saying a lot of metaphorical stuff so I’m still processing 😂 but thank you for doing what you do and being intentional and genuinely helping people. I think that’s so awesome and just seeing someone be vulnerable and loving what they do, like actually loving it. Again, its refreshing. Especially growing up in genz LOL I don’t want to generalize an entire group but being numb and no one really cares and everyone’s chasing $$ (not that it’s a bad thing) but there has to be more to life than just that. See I feel conflicted with like whether celebrities should talk about political issues or not. My whole thing is if you have a major following and influence but you don’t know anything about Worldly issues going on right now. then maybe create a platform to boost other people who do. I absolutely love that you gave your brother a platform. Loved this episode!!
@lullaby508
@lullaby508 2 года назад
Regarding being conflicted if celebrities should talk about political issues, they are human beings living in an area being governed by politics and regulations. As long as they are subjected to the effects of politics like everyone else, they are well within their rights to talk about it. They have a job that has the side effect of being famous. Being popular does not make you immune to the world. They are still people. They are just the popular kids at school. They are not gods above the rest. But you are right. If you do not know something, Bring someone on that does and ask questions. No one knows everything.

@@lullaby508 Yeh I think the problem is with celebrities who are just mouth pieces or did 0 research and assumed the status quo and with their mountain of influence can steer people quite wrong. However, if they have done their homework and have an opinion, by all means, whatever.

@lullaby508 2 года назад
@@rydout Every human being has a personal responsibility to properly investigate their knowledge & belief before sharing regardless of their social standing or level of fame. I do understand that celebs have influence and reach. It's best the talk when they know what they are talking about & can substantiate it. However, they should be free to talk regardless. The people that get influenced have to take responsibility for their actions, especially if they are adults. If they are kids, the parents or guardians and child has to take responsibility.

Love this conversation. Really interesting and informative. I got teary eye when Nick talked about the teenage girl getting her arm amputated. I work in the medical field with newborns all the way elderly patients. I understand how it’s not easy to find the equal between being realistic/straightforward while being hopeful/positive. But so worth it when you see someone who you thought wouldn’t make it do. I remember a cancer patient (who eventually got a cancer induced stoke). I had taken care of them a few times. Really healthy guy, loved rock climbing, biking, and more. Life changed quick. It was harder since it was in the height of the covid pandemic so it was very isolating for them too. They were at the hospitals for months and were very sick and physically weak and had to fight an infection while receiving cancer treatment. But man, they were strong. They worked hard and were resilient. Got up with PT and eventually was able to walk. And when I saw them stand up for the first time on the lift with physical therapy, I just was inspired. A completely bed rest person that went from that to standing up. People are really stronger than what some may think. On the day they were going home, the whole staff applauded and cheered him on. Beat cancer and recovered from a stoke and fought a bad infection. What a total badass. It makes the job worth it for sure. You win some you lose some but it’s all about giving it your all in the next, just as Nick said. I really enjoyed this podcast episode and look forward to more. Jon is totally awesome for starting this podcast up. Really was an authentic conversation I feel. And for Nick to come on and talk about his work was very eye opening.

Your brother is super interesting, crazy how brothers can be so different, yet the same.

You're just strait up badass and keep on getting better and better. From The Walking Dead, Fury, Sweet Virginia, The Punisher ( you killed that role ), Small Engine Repair and Ford VS Ferrari and now Real Ones. 💪👏 Huge fan from Boston MA. -Rachel

These are the type of brothers who went through some shit. They might have had a great family but they seen some awful shit growing up. I give them credit for going through all that crap and actually being able to succeed in life like they have. New subscriber here.

Love it. I felt a lot of what you mentioned growing up in our unique/diverse upbringing of DMV (DC/MD/VA) where ideas, character, reflection, action and heart were more important than today's superficial and gross value metric of wealth, social status, influence and lots of talk/little action. Love to see you guys keeping it real and representing DC as well as you do.

It sounds kinda crazy but when Nick is discussing medical issues and the real world sacrifices his patients are challenged with, a comedy show like scrubs hit on the same topics and the same emotions of the doctor and patient. You never know how that works because such realistic discussions aren't made and most people see a doctor in an emergency and then never think twice once they leave. His open and frank discussion of those dynamic is enlightening in ways rarely seen or heard so thanks for this.
