My grandad always watches heartbeat with a cup of tea and a biscuit with my nan . I remember being young and calling him out from his shed " Heartbeats on" he would come in and sit down and I would sit on his lap and drink our tea and we would watch it together as a family . He always tells me stories about living in the 60s and how those were the best days of his life . I'll forever keep those stories of his childhood close to my heart .
Growing up as a child, Heartbeat was THE show for us. The cars, the trains and the love of Whitby was made it a religion for us. I know Heartbeat may never return but it will forever be a part of my family memory
Same here! It played such a huge part of my childhoood, especially seeing as though my family knew a few of the actors and because Whitby is so close by. I loved it so much and I was devastated when it ended.
My mum loved this show. I remember hearing this song play from the other room, and remembering how happy watching this heartwarming series used to make her. Now she's in the great 'Aidensfield' in the sky. Miss you Ma 💙
Man i remember watching this show with my dad every Friday and saturday Man we had so much fun he had a beer and i had a coca cola Ice cold and the best part me and dad always used to sing this song As loud as we could ohh man i miss those times :D Rip dad
I used to hear this around 8pm every Sunday and get super depressed knowing it was the end of the weekend. Still makes me feel sick now listening to it and anyone who likes this song needs their head examined. Yet I still clicked on it. Maybe I have a slight fondness of it.
I'm only 15 and I absolutely love this show!! I watch it every night religiously. I don't get why its not more popular with my generation but I guess they would prefer watching something like Love Island. Its probably my favourite show at the moment but all my friends think I'm weird cause I watch old shows like this. I wish I could have been around when it was weird to not watch it. But I'm not so yeh:(
Just reminds me of coming home from my nans, bath time then sat infront of the fire eating fairies(round chips) & watching this before bed. Would love to go back for just one more time
I remember doing work experience at the BBC World Service in 1992 and got to sit in on a couple of live shows. I’ll always remember reading a copy of the show’s itinerary where it listed two songs to be played (can’t remember the other one) but clearly remember: *HIT NUMBER ONE - HEARTBEAT* Good times.
My dad introduced me to this show when i was a kid, i am now 23 i have bought every single series on dvd and have seen every episode a thousand times and will continue to watch, hands down my favourite show of all time
Growing up watching Heartbeat was brilliant. It used to be aired on a Friday night then changed to a Sunday night. This then London's Burning meant bedtime for school the next day. Still think Nick Berry still looks great!
I’ve not worked for a year and started watching Heartbeat from first episode online. I’m going on to series 16 now... Its lovely, just how the UK was in those days not like now, it brings back memories of a long gone era of the 60’s and 70’s.
I agree, I am a Canadian, and Heartbeat is a must see, we only have seen the 2006 series I would love to see it right from the beginning. The theme by Nick berry, is the best rendition I have heard.
@@barrygioportmorien1 Ahh Barry, it's worth watching the first episodes. The character's are spot on for the era. Most of them stayed for a long duration (Oscar, Ventris, Gena etc) Having lived in England during the 1960's I can honestly say that it depicts my life experience accurately in our rural counties ☺
@@harrybrown3657 Thanks Harry, that's why I guess, I like it so much, I grew up in rural Cape Breton, Nova Scotia right on the ocean. born 1944, and it kind of parallels my growing up there for the first 18 years of my life, then we moved 1400 miles away to Toronto, Ontario. But my heart will always be in Cape Breton
This was a beautifully made programme, I used to love seeing the countryside on this as I grew up in the city so seeing countryside any way I can is good for me, especially since I have Autism.
This was my grandfathers favorite tv show and this played st his funeral it was a total surprise! He was a prankster!! How I miss him.. but I love this song so much ❤️
I get the feeling that I'm the first Australian to know this show since I live with a Yorkshire family If I play this song to anyone else in Australia I bet they wouldn't know
We watched it religiously in our family household growing up in Australia and it was definitely on free-to-air TV for many years so I’m sure lots of people watched it in Australia.
Your granddad was right 😊. The 60s were the best time of our lives - at that time, anyway. Enjoy yourself now, if you can, because one day you will remember your own decade.
It's a beautiful show I grew up in the 60s I have nearly all the DVDS I grew up the North of England it's the beautiful place on earth and I love all the cast of heart beat Nick Berry WOW what a hunk and what a voice I wish they could all come back I miss the show here in Australia.
Brilliant show! Wonderful actors! Great script writers! Wonderful stories! How blessed we were to grow up with Heartbeat! Those were simpler time.... more gentler times.... we were kinder to each other.... We miss Heartbeat and the actors.... especially GreenGrass and Alfred!
Great song, great rendition, and a great handsome hunk. Rerun Show on at the moment in Melbourne Aust every afternoon at 4.20 and I am there watching it. sept 2018
I remember watching this with my mum or my grandparents as a child I can't quite remember the show too much but the theme song is iconic ♥️♥️ it's so catchy
So catchy song! They started re-runs of Heartbeat from 1 st season on on Finnish TV few weeks ago. This series typically has some other good music on its episodes than just the theme song.
oh god.....oh god.....this is gonna be on Gold when i'm in a care home with dementia and i'm actually gonna be tapping my hand on my knee to this song!
Nick Berry Miscellaneous Heartbeat Heartbeat, why do you miss when my baby kisses me Heartbeat, why does a love kiss stay in my memory Wriggly Pat and sing to me loves story And bring to me loves glory Heartbeat, why do you miss when my baby’s kisses me Heartbeat, why do you skip when my baby’s lips meet mine Heartbeat, why do you flip them give me a skippy smile Wriggly Pat and sing to me loves story And bring to me loves glory Heartbeat, why do you miss when my baby kisses me
Idk why but I always remember the episode where they go fly fishing and old mate has no flys for his line and goes and catches real flys thinking that’s what fly fishing is got that episode always has me in stitches
Sitting at home mom dad sis and the weekly show. Theyre all gone but the tune will always live always and I will feel their presence every time I hear it. Sory Buddy.
Mark - Most viewers agree that Nick does a much better rendition of Heartbeat. Heard through the grapevine he was offered a contact to become a singer but turned it down.
@@rogertycholiz2218 the vast majority of people in the world don't know who Nick Berry is and haven't listened to his cover version. Buddy Holly on the other hand is one of the most celebrated singer songwriters ever. He even had other classic songs other people wrote that were about him because he was so important to music (he's what American Pie is about). And there would have been no Beatles without Buddy Holly
I love this show, saw in late nineties, this song reminds me that ere, my friend had same triumph herald like Doctor Kate had in this show good old days
Brilliant show used to watch it when as a kid. Really like Greengrass and Sergent Blaketon my favourite characters. I stopped watching it when Greengrass left. Love the area where its was filmed, Goathland, Whitby, the moors and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
Brilliant Show. Use to watch this when I was a kid. I thought the show went down hill when Bill 'Greengrass' Maynard left and also Nick Berry left as well. Love the area where it filmed especially the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and Whitby.
Nick Berry's track Heartbeat is another one of my favorite hits from the Now 22 That's What I Call Music double CD which was purchased in 1990 when my father was studying at university in England.
Jeepers weren't ye all the good little kids. After TV ended on a sunday night at around 11:30pm I would start thinking perhaps I better start my homework.
