Nick and Daniil have identical serves using the backhand grip hold right at bottom end of the racquet handle. With this grip the server can decide at the moment of impact a flat serve to the centre of the opponent's court, with or without top and side spins, hit to the extreme left or right of the oppnt's court(sometimes called the "stealt" service).A rather complex service but with long practice and powerful wrist the serve is a secret asset of tennis play

I noticed pinpoint servers like Nick and Sasha don’t have big upper body coil compared to the platformers eg Fed and Novak. They end up being more front on at contact. I think that makes their flat serve more lethal.

NK has taken the loud mouthed Australian international. Job well done.

Notice that Nick has very little pronation past contact on these serves. There are times that he has more pronation past contact but I think it is important to note that pronation past contact while it can help some people swing through the shot instead of holding on is not an absolute. A lot of players get more accuracy by not pronating a lot past contact yet still serve quite fast. Pliskova being the most obvious example as she virtually doesn’t pronate past contact at all and is one of the all time WTA ace leaders.

What grip does he use?

He is basically landing one shoe's lenght inside the baseline. Not as far insise the couet as this narrative.

Nick has all the body parts in sync and firing at the right time. One link of the kinetic chain ends and then naturally flows to the next link. It may be God-Given. His precise timing is demonstrated by his ability to make contact at full extension while using a fairly low service toss. Tough task in itself. The toss really can't be read and his serve is on top of the returner in a heartbeat. When Nick's on, his serve is unreturnable.

If Novak Djokovic can get that close to the Royal family, then why can't he enter the USA? Medical or political? Please explain! 👍

he should be allowed to play for sure

Great point Kevan. The answer is pure "discrimination". The bigots in government hate him because he refused to be vaccinated. He should be allowed to play in the US Open !

@@kevanashy if novak djokovic can get that close to the royal family, then why do visitors to buckingham palace need a covid test? medical or political? please explain! in all seriousness, the exact risk posed by someone is a result of many factors including age, density, proximity, indoor/outdoor, vaccination status, mask wearing. different people, places, and countries are going to make different decisions about how much risk they are willing to take, and what they are willing to allow or prohibit to reduce that risk. this is why nhs doctors might be required to be vaccinated and masked, why an unvaccinated person can be 15 meters from the princess at an outdoor event. you might be fine with someone unvaccinated at your house, your neighbor might not be it is medical _and_ it is policy

Watched him hit 137mph today at Wimbledon. Really good job Pete on this video. The wrist bend thing I think is really important. I need to work on that as I can see that will help me to get to the on edge position without slipping to the pizza move.

The extremely flexed wrist is an interesting solution to the pizza move, i.e. Waiters Tray. As I recall, Jeff Salzenstein was NOT a fan of flexed wrist to solve Waiters Tray. Jeff prefers the wrist to be in a neutral position as he says this neutral position promotes relaxation... But I can see how the flexed wrist can be used as a quick and dirty fix to the Waiters Tray Error. If the wrist is in an extremely flexed position at trophy phase, like Kyrgios, it makes it very difficult (practically impossible???) to flip open into the common Waiters Tray at trophy phase.

"The Pizza Move" 😆😆 🍕🍕Yes I suffer from Waiters Tray Error but "Pizza Move" sounds better. The extremely flexed wrist is an interesting idea. If the wrist is in an extremely flexed position like Kyrgios, it makes it very difficult (nearly impossible?) to flip open into Waiters Tray at trophy phase... I think Federer does not not have as extreme a wrist flex as Kyrgios. Pretty close to neutral. That should be the ultimate goal. But use the extreme wrist flex as a temporary solution for the Waiters Tray Error.

Great synopsis. I might add that Nick uses a "slingshot" motion in his serve. He is a human elastic band in his style motion. As a tennis player myself, I tore the ligaments in my wrist several years ago and was never since able to generate power on my serve again.

The next tutorial should be, 'what Kyrgios has done NOT to achieve any greater than a 500 series win after being on tour for 9 years'. There's an ex-Australian 'big serve' player by the name of Mark Philippoussis. His serve was just as lethal, but unlike Kyrgios, Philippoussis got to his first GS final in just 4 years after turning pro (also made it to the Wimbledon final in 2003), he won a Masters (something Kyrgios has failed to do), achieved a career high ranking within the top 10 (something Kyrgios has failed to do), won the Queens tournament on grass (Kyrgios is supposed to be a great grass court player but so far has failed to win a tournament on grass) ... and, I could go on and on about the facts and failures of Kyrgios. It makes me laugh how people think Kyrgios is so great and he's such a talented player, but there's no REAL evidence to suggest this and in my opinion (after playing and watching tennis since the late 70's), Kyrgios is no more talented than the other young 'top crop' on the circuit today.

injury and mentality, that's it. for much of his career nick has been plagued by injuries and had a lack of desire to compete. the fact you think he's not talented kind of outs you as having no idea how to assess tennis players lol

@@Jordan-fg9cc "for much of his career nick has been plagued by injuries and had a lack of desire to compete" - Injuries which stem from a lack of training. I know an ex-fitness coach at Tennis Australia (Alex Hynes) ... the stories I could tell you about the lack of training Kyrgios he has put in over his career, and his attitude to training - Sorry, but his 'lack of desire to compete' doesn't factor into this equation "the fact you think he's not talented" - I didn't say this, so that is NOT a fact .... stay focussed - As I said "Kyrgios is no more talented than the other young 'top crop' on the circuit today" "having no idea how to assess tennis players " - Yer, OK junior. I've been playing and following tennis since the late 70's ... you probably weren't even a tingle in your dad's p3nis when I was 30 years old "lol" - A clear demonstration of how juvenile you are
