Prices are annoying and it's always makes me mad when it's low, but the food on the shelf are getting more expensive. Then people start to blame us, farmers, like we are the ones who say how much we sell our crops for. Meanwhile there is a lot of middlemen before it's end up on their table.
@johnunsicker7440
@johnunsicker7440 24 дня назад
People really need to know how farming works. It's not like any other business. Most businesses you buy at wholesale and sell at retail prices you set. Farming you buy at retail and then sell at wholesale at what someone is willing to pay you. You don't set your price other so. It's a gamble. There is a podcast a Few points from perfect. They had a farmer on it he explained it pretty good. Framing is just high-stake gambling. You borrow a million dollars and then throw it in the ground and hope you get enough in the fall to make a profit.

The crop prices have not kept pace with inflation since I was growing up on a farm 35 years ago. I would watch the prices every day on the news as a teenager and realized farming is not for the faint of heart.
@tjmfarming9584
@tjmfarming9584 24 дня назад
Agreed. Unfortunately, we live in a world where farmers are the Price-takers, not the Price-setters. So the middlemen will come in and try to beat farmers around the bush. The fruit growers in Australia are a clear example of that, supermarkets locked them into a contract then turned round and changed the price on them. A good chunk of them had to dump their oranges, 7 huge piles because it wasn't worth harvesting.

The word you were looking for is aspirated. I was a Speech Pathologist for 22 years, specializing in chewing & swallowing disorders. I’m so glad they were able to remove them from his lungs. Aspiration is loosely defined as a foreign object lodging in the lungs(breathing something in vs swallowing it) Sounds like that’s what happened to the poor guy. Got startled & took a big breath. If not removed it could lead to aspiration pneumonia. I’m so happy to hear they were able to remove all of it! Benny Johnson’s (a podcaster)1 year old somehow inhaled pieces of yellow crayon. When the scope tried to remove it, it kept melting. A specialist came in & was able to get it all. Scary stuff. It happens a lot with little kids, mostly from putting stuff up their noses. Praise God both kids are ok!

Thanks for another great video Welkers. It was interesting and enjoyable to watch. Nick and family: sorry to hear about your son and the medical situation. Wonderful to hear that they were successful in removing the peanuts from his lungs. God was watching over him and you as a family!!!!! My blessings to you and your son and so pleased he is recovering. ❤ Thanks to Scott and Bob for all of their explanations on a variety of things. Scott you were doing a lot of things with Nick being gone. Scott you did great with the Apache sprayer, you got the job done-yeah!!!!! Thanks to Scott for explaining the new and updated grain auger system. Super nice rig and great updated to the system. Nice rig. You did a great job of keeping the trucks running and running the combine also. You had a busy busy time with Nick being gone with his son. Hang in there Scott. Was very nice of you Scott❤!!!!!!!!!! Glad you had your sons in the combine with you for a while. They will always remember that time with you in the combine. ❤ Bob , I sincerely appreciate your rundown of the crop production statistics. Some of your crops are doing good compared to last year-yeah!!!!!!!!!!! You folks are due for some seriously better crops!!!!!! Didn’t see Colby on this trip but knew he was with you. Bob do sincerely appreciate the in depth analysis of your crops this year and how things are going. I know I speak for all of the Welker followers that we want you all to have a good year for the Welker families!!!!!!!!!! Am trusting God will give you all a good year!!!!!!!!!! Bob, I am, as you know an Iowa person, and you explaining the pea crop and spring and winter wheat crops and the lintels (spelling?) is really appreciated. We were corn and soybeans, so your crops are kind of foreign to me. Yes I know what they are but not in depth knowledge, so you taking the time to educate us on your crops is so valuable!!!!!!! Thanks so much Bob, I have great respect for you and your family and your farming operation!!!!!! Bless you sir. Nick, glad to see you back and going again on the farm. As I said earlier, glad your son is ok and recovering. Guess that is it for now. Sorry I got long winded today, will slap my typing hand-ha!!!!!! You all take care and be safe. Thanks for everything. Sending my blessings and prayers to you for more moisture. May God watch over you all!!!!!!!!’ The Iowa farm boy. Steve. 😊😊👋👍👍🙏🙏💕💕🇺🇸🇺🇸 Enjoy yourselfs at the farm progress show in Boone Iowa. Wish I could see you there but health prevents it. People will love to see you all. Enjoy. The Iowa farm boy. Steve

Our farmers haven't even started harvesting anything yet. I expect they'll start harvesting corn very soon. Eastern North Carolina. Corn, tobacco, soybeans, sorgram are the primary crops grown, with some sweet potatoes and strawberries in the Spring. They used to grow peanuts but that was before I moved here 18 years ago.

Always scary when your child has an emergency situation, glad it turned out OK. We travel US2 every summer and it was amazing to see how short your small grains are. It is hard to tell from the highway sometimes whether a field has been cut, but also hard for this midwesterner to know what some of the crops are. Wheat is easy but it looks like some other sorts of cereal crops that are different colors and some have beards. I did not see anything that looked like beans or peas along 2, did see some of what looked like canola. Good luck with harvest, hope you find some better yields.

The yields may not be as high as it was in bumper years, but at least you guys have a crop that's clean, even and puts the big bins through their paces. As my Dad says, "Farming builds character" because every spanner in the works be it droughts, floods, fields so wet you cant go 2 feet without getting the tractor stuck, high or low commodity prices, or even all the cantankerous machinery only a mechanical genius like Leg Arms to get working right. It's quite amazing to see how your part of the world is already harvesting, yet meanwhile, here in Western Australia, we're still having most crops in our area trying to come into ear. Also, the interactions between Leg Arms Raley and Roscoe made me chuckle, the boys are gonna grow up to do great things like their dad. And Nick, I'm extremely glad to hear your son's ok! Will be having you guys in my prayers, God bless Welkers!
