"Nick News" Closing Theme Composed by Joseph Curiale Synthesizers: Joseph Curiale Violin: Joel Derouin French Horn: Stephanie O'Keefe Guitar: Pat Thomi Produced, arranged, and programmed by: Joseph Curiale Contact: / joseph.curiale.3
This is honestly a really great composition. Writing a theme song for something as fundamentally varied in tone as the news can’t be easy. You need something that straddles every line possible, without being distasteful over the many serious subject matters that the news brings us. And then here, you had the additional task of making it appealing to kids. You pulled it off, and you did a tremendous job. The song has a good, solid energy to it that contributes to its optimistic edge, subtlety reminding kids that the future’s never as bleak as it may seem. And hell, here I am, remembering it thirty years later. Terrific job 🫡
Wow, thank you for your very kind and very insightful review. I guess I'm a big little kid who never grew up, so perhaps I had a feel for what might be fun for kids to listen to. As I had mentioned previously, this was the 6th version I had written before the producers were happy. I'm glad because I felt depleted by then, and didn't have it in me to write a 7th. Thank you for appreciating the music. Best wishes.
This version certainly have a more rock n' roll edge to it and I vibe with it. I don't know if others will as much as I do. But nevertheless, this is a worthy re-recording of a classic theme to many childhoods. I love it just as much. I hope Nick will pick this up someday for their new iteration of Nick News. Your brilliance hasn't been lost on those with the most careful listening ears. Props again good sir, and props to Joel, Stephanie, Pat and Joe.
Thank you again. I do admire careful listeners like yourself because I’m one of them. And thank you for appreciating the good work all the musicians did. Their hearts were in the right place and I like to believe it comes through in their fine performances. Very best wishes.
@@585MBA For me, it went like this. After Nick News is over... _Hello out there, from TV Land,_ _It's really great to see you!_ _Get great TV pleasure, from... (whistle)_ _NICK AT NIIIIIITE!_ "First up, on Nick at Nite, it's Bewitched, followed by The Dick Van Dyke Show, and My Three Sons. Nick at Nite - Where classic TV is always our top priority!"
Because she actually brought an intellectual program to Nickelodeon instead of the traditional nicktoons. Personally, I loved Linda Ellerbee and miss her!
Yes, that's correct. It was the updated version that I was asked to produce after the first few years (perhaps the late 90s). It has the electric guitar playing the melody in the "B section," updated drums, and a different French horn player. I believe the show ran for @14 years...
RobSka Studios / RobSka TV Hi, I have no idea if my theme will be used for the Special, but I hope so. I knew nothing about this Special. If they use it, or if you hear when the show will air, would you mind letting me know? Thank you.
@@josephcuriale2293 seen some of the special, haven't used your theme. used some generic music. It would have been cool if they remixed your theme a bit, but nope.
This version of the Nick News closing theme was used from 1998 until the show's final episode, which aired on December 15, 2015. So that theme was used from Seasons 8 through 24, which was about 17 years. This theme lasted longer than the 1992 version. And just like the 1992-1998 era, the 1998 theme also had other cues, including the opening theme. What do you think, Joseph?
