Nick@Nite was once an innovative programming block on Nickelodeon focused on classic content. Now, with few shows and a repetitive schedule, not to mention competition from elsewhere and even the sister channel the block helped to create, Nick@Nite seems more useless than ever. Nick @ nite is literally just friends now. It was much better a decade ago with George Lopez, Family Matters, Malcolm in the Middle, Everybody Hates Chris, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Full House and all those shows. Now they basically show friends for like four or five hours during the night and really not a whole lot else.

TV has been doomed since internet steaming and RU-vid took over. Hell I very rarely watch actual TV these days as I mostly stay on RU-vid. I still like TV for stuff like Moonshiners on Discovery Channel or some older stuff like The Waltons though. Still overall 98% of my time is spent on RU-vid using on my Xbox/PlayStation console.

While I don’t mind Nick Jr (even if the block is less diverse than the 24/7 channel), Nick at Nite is holding this channel back, especially with all of the off the clock scheduling and constant movies...

While I don't really care about Nick Jr. myself either (so long as it stays out of the way as it usually does), Nick@Nite is far harder to justify, given the format duplication, the lack of original content, and the brand erosion through the further limiting of the block's content and the Nick shows and movies creeping into the block's time slots. It doesn't make sense why Nick wouldn't bite the bullet and extend further into the evening (or [gasp!] go 24-hour and cream late-night ratings for Disney Channel and Disney XD). It's unclear whether NickRewind would scale well with a promotion from TeenNick to Nick; Nick will probably want the same or better ratings and I don't know if a retro block will deliver that for them. I don't think Nick has the guts to pull off a rival to Adult Swim; not only would its launch be derided as a copycat, given AS is so established, it might also create competition with sibling Comedy Central (not that they mind that N@N and TV Land are basically the same thing now). Benzie Johnson I think it needs to. My answer to that problem, just revive Games Animation but as a label for adult animation since Adult Animation is the new trend. Besides, nick test it out for the Batman vs TMNT animated film which is a PG-13 movie. So maybe they could give it a try with the right execution. Hell, they could also re run their already existing adult animated programs from other networks like MTV, Spike and Comedy Central on there just to test it out and see if the ratings where very high. Like think about it. The new nick adult block airing South Park, Anon Flux, Beavis and Butthead, Celebrity DeathMatch and even DuckMan! Would it be a cool block idea with more variety? They could also at the same time aired nick shows from the 90s and 00s like Ren and Stimpy, Hey Arnold, Angry Beavers, Mr Meaty and even.... My Life as a Teenage Robot. Which is the one show that needs a revival. Either on Netflix or maybe this new late night block. We’ll see.

Given Adult Swim repeats its schedule (and often the exact same episodes) halfway through the night, I wouldn't exactly hail them as a bastion of scheduling excellence myself. But they do have better scheduling, to some extent at least, than Nick@Nite. Thank you for watching this video!

(Late comment, I know): I personally feel that Nick will let Nick@Nite die on its own, now that the rest of the whole ViacomCBS regime is more focused on building up Pluto TV, Showtime, and CBS All Access (which will later be Paramount+). The cable TV industry has slowly starting to become....well, just say irrelevant, in terms of scripted programming.

Looking it up, the Latin American Nick@Nite block started as more akin to the things multicast classic TV networks and daytime TV Land would cover nowadays, and then shifted towards more of a NickRewind/TeenNick style block later in its life. The US block is somewhat stuck between those two extremes, with a few semi-recent sitcoms (similar to the primetime schedule on TV Land, as mentioned in the video) filling a lengthy nighttime block. It seems like the Latin American block had a bit more focus, or at least offered something different to the market; I don't think you really want ours sent down. Thank you for watching this video!

You have made some solid points, but there is something that Nick at Nite can do to bring in some level of variety. You said that retro doesn't rate on TV, right? Well, how about a late night talk show? I mean, if Nick at Nite has a late night talk show on board, then maybe it can give the viewers a sense of variety and that could get Nick at Nite a few more viewers.

I’m extremely late with my comment (nice video btw!) but yes I agree, there’s next to no reason for the Nick@Nite to be around now. I haven’t watched it in a long time but when I see the line up when I click to revisit, aside from seeing Young Sheldon being on the block now, it just seems to be mass Friends reruns. Doesn’t appeal to me but it’s probably just casual for someone randomly to tune in because they’re channel surfing and for some reason don’t have steam services lol. I’ve not watched cable late night blocks in a long time, in fact the only cable shows in general I mostly watch is wrestling programming and American Horror Story whenever that eventually returns

but nickelodeon has multiple channels, some play adult shows at night, others play kids shows at night. one it’s for adults because it plays adult shows at night and kids usually aren’t up by then, but the kids channels are for kids if they wake up in the middle of the night and they feel scared/ lonely so it doesn’t really matter what shows are on

Nick rewind needs to move from teennick to nick@nite, it will get more ratings. Another idea is based off how a few years back nick@nite had All That and Keenan and Kel at the beginning of the block. Maybe a nicktoon or live action show from the 90s or 2000s could take up that hour, maybe an obscure one like Catscratch or The X's

Now I do get where you are coming from. Yes Nick at Nite isn't like it used to be. I know you are younger then me but I LOVED watching classic shows like; I Love Lucy, The Lucy Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Laugh In, My Three Sons, Donna Reed Show, Mork and Mindy and several others (Don't want to list everyone I used to watch) but I think they should cut down the block. I say not get rid of it completely. I do ever so often watch some of the shows that air not a lot but ever so often I might catch a show and get pulled in. To me it's almost like how Nickelodeon was where they only showed SPONGEBOB all the time. Nick at Nite used to have a variety of shows but not now. I do miss watching those shows I mentioned with all the old bumpers. Those were the days.

I don't think an adult animation block would work given the audience and style Nick@Nite has traditionally gone for. The tonal shift would be jarring to the show's existing audience, and it'd be a challenge to attract audiences from other channels which serve that angle, such as Adult Swim. Given Nick's tendency to let things lie fallow when they don't work (or don't work well anymore), it wouldn't be worth the effort for them to create such a thing. Thank you for watching this video!

Boomerang is in a tricky spot right now, and it would probably make for a good video. The sort of weird misfire of the rebrand (while needed) and the situation with the app has left the channel in a sticky situation that I don't know they'll make it out of unscathed. Nick at Nite used to be something truly special, and so did TVLand. I know "classics" change over time and they were eventually gonna start airing stuff from the 80s and 90s, but they don't even frame it as classic anymore and if George Lopez is anything to go by they go for trendy or attention-grabbing stuff rather than the curated collection they used to run. And most of their original shows were just...blah. I remember liking Hot in Cleveland and Happily Divorced, but that's it. (I didn't realize they were branding their kids' shows with N@N, though, jeez. Or that they aired George Lopez in the mornings.)

Nick should be a 24hr channel and nick@nite should change their name to NickAdult and have it's own channel. Or they should stay and program shows from MTV from the 90's and the 00's with a mixture of comedy central and Nick Rewind while programing shows they currently air and also Wkrp in Cincinnati from CBS, Married with children from FOX, and others.

I used to love nick @ nite back when they aired older programming cause shows I still watch today I first fell on love with them through nock @ nite but recently when they got the series mom the show was still making new episodes on cbs and the same with their new acquisition young Sheldon it got renewed for this coming television season bringing it up to the 100th episode where it’s time on cbs will be numbered cause 100 episodes means there is enough episodes to properly syndicate the show but with shows syndicating their shows to early in my opinion it feels like shows are on just to reach the 100th episode

Also in the us is sponge master on again because our it’s pony but where competition just ended but we already had sponge master I saw in a nick us continuity that they have a sponge master looking thing? It's a good idea, but the problem with that is that Comedy Central tends to aim a little edgier than Nick@Nite goes for. Therefore, the two wouldn't be a good fit without some serious retooling of Nick@Nite, and at that point, why not just do something completely different? Thank you for watching this video!

but! We SHOULD HAVE THE TIME TO MEMORIZE THE MEMORIES OF OUR Old shows so you can't replace nick@nite! NICK AT NITE IS NOT INNAPROPIATE LIKE NICKMOM BUT YOU'RE SAYING the old shows are bad but we can still have them so why do you want to cancel a good classic night time block? YOU CAN'T Expect people to like your opinion. This could cause a breakthrough! VIACOM IS TRYING TO PUT THE GOOD SHOWS and entertain people and the old shows are classic! just because you don't like old shows that doesn't mean you could bomb a classic tv programming night block!

nick@nite and teen Nick should get cancelled and have nick@nite shows move to tv land and the teennick shows move to nick@nite alongside unfiltered, group chat, all that and Danger Force. Basically giving everyone the UK version of nick@nite (the UK version of teennick) and having a year long promo for that.
