Because the most important distinction in all of this is that Nurse was the most sought-after HC and chose to come here with a couple other contenders offering him as well. This is not a guy who needed a job so he sold himself to us, we had to sell out situation to him, which is much more positive than fans think. We are a serious contender with Embiid and Maxey period.
Nick Nurse is the finish line of Trust The Process. If Philly is capable of winning, he will take them there. Real talk we make fun of the process but we do it because it really is something, there's loads of talent on Philly. That has to appeal to Nurse who isn't just a seat filler coach, he will expect that talent to be used. Having watched his growth it's no surprise that he feels that way about Philly as an org.

Nick tried his best with Pascal for years. Pascal just isn't that guy. He has fake motivation at the start of every year but when they needed him to make a shot in a big game, he goes MIA. Nick finally has a star to work with like he did with Kawhi.
Sixers finally has a real coach that can demand what he wants out of a player. Scheme against opponents , put players in situations that will bring out their greatness. Make Embiid unstoppable as he was a coach that schemed successfully against him. Make Maxey an all star.
First coach who will hold our entitled players accountable (particularly James). Nurse will be the first coach in Joel's career who will demand the best out of him.
I hate this fetish with holding players accountable as if that is what will make they're shots go in, in fact that is the reason Thybulle couldn't hit anything here is because of the pressure Doc put on him.
Nick is a great coach. He will do well. But he is not the difference between a championship or not. That difference is between the ears of Embiid. Good luck.

What do you expect him to say? They gave him the job but he knows it is not true. Toronto is a more first class organization than Sixers. NN knows that as well. @@KsM-285 My position is this: this core's best chance at doing damage in the playoffs was last year at the trade deadline. The team was playing excellent ball, but the starters were beat. Masai should have done everything in his power to improve that club in advance of a promising playoff run with an overachieving but banged up squad. But the team was betrayed by the Front Office - they did NOTHING. No centre. No bench scoring. NADA. And the result was an overused squad got no help and went into the playoffs to be embarrassed by a beatable Sixers squad. I suggest you go back and listen to the press conference after that trade deadline and listen closely to Masai's excuse for leaving the club and the coaches hanging. Come back to me once you've done that and then we can have an honest conversation. But I doubt you will do that...

Horrible interview how do you not ask about James harden. We all know embid is the league MVP but we did not get one mvp performance an the playoffs. We got two from harden expectations was key this season and Joel didn’t come thru. I believe harden can flourish and nurse system.
