I've met Nick several times and contrary to all the 'madman' presumptions made by many, he's an absolute gent. He's my favourite living musician.

Nick Oliveri is the man. Sure he might battle addictions like all of us do, but his head's in the right space when it comes to fans and respecting the people that absolutely love the music FOR the music. Much respect to Oliveri.

Lanegan sang the opening track on Lullabies, since then, all he has done are backups. In my opinion, QOTSA were almost like the modern day CSNY during the Songs for the deaf and R albums. Homme wants to be the only frontman, and that's okay, it's his band that he started. But it's my opinion that QOTSA were more complete with Nick and Mark.

Even if that were true, fame isn't Josh's game. It's making music. Between Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, Them Crooked Vultures, and any other project Homme has a part in, he's already proven himself as not only a consistent performer, but a superior musician.

you got me, this was my second on camera interview ever. if i was trying to get views or be the next whoever, i'd be doing a lot more. nick wanted to do this and our go-to guy johnny firecloud was overseas so i stepped up. i have respect for nick, but as always, i do this shit for the fans, not for myself or to suck band dick. questions asked were what i perceived to be what the fans want to hear about, wrong or right. and to cut 90 minutes cut down to less than 20 would have wasted a lot.

Sorry dude, Brant and Josh wrote Kyuss' material, until Brant left. If Kyuss Lives! play any tunes post-Sky Valley, than Josh has every right to sue them. Read the Decibel mag interview...
@lxrmusic7339
@lxrmusic7339 6 лет назад
Homme obviously wrote all of Kyuss songs and then Reeder was a great complement to Homme's playing - end of story. Garcia stated that even for his own solo material he had a bunch of guitarists sending him material (because of him being a legend as the singer of Kyuss) These guys ain't no songwriters so there you have it, they don't really own the Kyuss catalogue
@Cystlib
@Cystlib 6 лет назад
Brant wrote a significant amount of the music of kyuss and I read in an interview that Garcia wrote some parts of "...And the circus leaves town". They own Kyuss just as much as Josh
@VitalemRecords
@VitalemRecords 11 лет назад
That's not the source of the lawsuit. Kyuss Lives were working on a live recording and new album, and they DON'T have the right to do that stuff without 2/3 of the original LEGAL group named Kyuss - and that would be Josh Homme, John Garcia and Scott Reeder. Brant Bjork doesn't hold any legal power of any single Kyuss song. The problem derives from the fact that Kyuss Lives were given permission to do live performances ONLY, but they tried to record a live album, and that's against the agreement

Was lucky enough to see Kyuss Lives when they came to the UK and they were amazing. I doubt I'd have been bothered about them if it wasn't for the fact Nic was in them, as it would've looked like John doing what he's been doing for years now, despite Brant being there. Never saw them as when I first got into them when i was in my teens they'd alreay split. I've seen Nic a few times with Mondo Generator and they're amazing live. I really hope he does welll with the project

Its like when the Spice Girls & Take That got back together, the Spice Girls were just no way as good as when they first came out, that pure ferocious energy wasnt there and Posh Spice knew it. Josh is sort of like Posh Spice. But what he should think of is Take That, they came back even better than the first time around, i saw them live and Howard was killing it. Im glad that Howard took a more central role 2nd time around, you could really hear his imput in the newer stuff, much more raw, much more Howard.

I don't even know what "tweaking" means. Guessing meth. Doubt it's red bull or coffee. I think he is awesome. But if he's stuck in a meth or coke addiction, then (selfishly), we're probably screwed with him reaching his potential as a musician and creating the type of unique music that he is capable of. If he has an addictive personality, I'd suggest he stick to booze and weed. Both aren't good. But compared to speed and coke, not a bad alternative.

True, that's maybe one way to look at it; they could of MAYBE spent more time in there, and possibly produced something closer to lullabies, which i think was good. Aye i saw them live in may 2011, in Glasgow o2 academy, i think they were tight and good, but just lacking in something, which I think they have done since about 04. Their lullabies lineup was awesome, i mean alain johannes is boss, but 2000 i think was their best lineup. not that i saw them live then, but based on vids on here.

He talks like a lot of people I knew growing up who are decent and humble, but can't work through their feelings. Like the kind of guys who shove their boss over some minor issue. They act out on other people but it's like they don't take violence that seriously and so they just resort to it instead of talking shit through or letting things slide. And they always have an excuse because there will always be a next time. Frankly Josh Homme is violent too and seems less repentant about it. I always got along more with guys like Nick as long as they weren't roommates or neighbors. But they can be a little scary because they always seem like they're on edge and can overreact to stuff.

we cut a shit-ton out. literally, one full shit-ton. i weighed it. scale said shit-ton. seriously though... this is our style. when we interviewed homme, he answered our questions directly. but we don't do interviews to hear celebrities ramble, we do interviews to challenge the discussion and get straight answers for the fans because no one else has the balls. and nick respects that and it's why he called us to do this. also, we were drunk. sorry about the sound quality. noisy bar.

Several of the times when you interrupted him I was actually interested in seeing where he was going with it, but you didn't let him speak. And honestly, people who come here to watch it are probably more interested in hearing what he has to say than to you. It wouldn't be, it's definitely not what Josh or anyone else wanted for Kyuss Lives! Josh initially gave them the thumbs up too, because he wanted to see his friends bring back Kyuss, even if he didn't want to be a part of it. But with all of them scrambling for the royalties for songs Josh already wrote, they've thrown Kyuss into a pit of legal drama that I know Josh would never have wanted in the first place. Such a shame.

Absolutely. I would too if I threw Nick out of my band for constantly being strung out and beating his girlfriends. But Josh hasn't said anything about Nick since probably around 2005 or 2006. It's in the past now. The only thing Josh has said about the legal problems now, is in an official statment he released that's no longer than a paragraph. Everyone in Kyuss Lives on the other hand is running to Rolling Stone magazine for interviews bashing Josh, or for video chats like this one. It's sad
