It’s a specific sound that just cuts through. Snare tone is a drummer’s preference and I’m sure it took awhile for them to get it where they like it

Well…that exact sound makes it so iconic, as its hard to actually mix drum live to be so powerfull and ringy yet controlled and full sounding with tons of punch…off course triggers make tour life easier 😊. I love that sound as it’s actually closer to what you’d get when playing drums alone, yet still it cuts through the music. Just plain perfect. Also i did asked in the comment section if they could elaborate on what heads the drummer uses and what type of shells… it’s in the comments somewhere. Anyway, that is the same setup I always prefered when recording in the studio, Emperor clear for toms, Powerstroke 3 on kick with the patch, Ambasador on snare, with some little gel dampening…

Dw collectors series, Daniel has a video on RU-vid of the specific shells he uses. Though since then I think he's changed a few bits like the snare drum but the rest of the kit i believe is still the same, added an extra floor Tom. He uses remo ambassador and emperor heads
