Screw them! I have loved this band for officially more than half of my life. Through good and bad. People’s voice when singing usually sounds different than when talking. I’m not all too familiar with the topic, but i Think it has something to do with the vocal cords “readjusting” its structure to fit the situation (i could be totally wrong about this, so i’d love to be corrected)

I listened to nickle back and sorry they lost it and especially after he talked shit about stone sour and Slipknot and the fact he thinks that he has written hirs songs and Cory has not look at the charts from 2017 and the fact that Cory is on the top ten and Chad is not even top 50 and hasn't been in years and all of the stuff they have put out the past 13 years sounds the same, so enough said .

the only reason why they were hated is because they wrote a few songs that got overplayed on the radio. (that weren't the best Nickelback songs) Anyway on Canadian radio there has to be a certain amount of Canadian bands. Not a lot of Canadians bands suck. but if you live in Canada, in the early 2000's, Nickelback, basically got shoved down our throats.

I say “universally hated” to mean “they get a lot of shit from many different people,” not “every single living creature in the universe hates them, and I have proof.” Any reasonable person can understand that, and it’s extra ironic that you called it hyperbole while also failing to grasp the concept. I’m not hating on Nickelback, trying to insult them, or “perpetuating a falsehood.” I was actually defending them, and criticizing the people who jump on the bandwagon of hating some person or group simply because everyone else is doing it, and then when you actually hear that person talk they’re often very humble and cool. The identical thing is true for Carrot Top-he is probably the most “universally” mocked comedian there is, but everyone who knows him says he’s actually an incredibly nice and positive person. Does saying that Carrot Top is “universally mocked” mean that literally every single person in the universe mocks him? No. Only an autistic person would read it that way. So calm down, and stop taking everything personally like you need to jump in and defend Nickelback while completely misinterpreting what I was saying.

Sucking and selling are two different things. Writing a jingle is formulaic and not hard. There are brilliant virtuosos, and brilliant bands who do not sell anything. I do think Nickelback are talented, though, and they receive a lot of hate. There are reasons for that, like how overproduced their later albums became. Their first records were great.

True music people DO like Nickelback. It’s the self-loathing, entitled, jealous, hypocritical, professional-victim, sh*t-stains who are into DJ-button-pushing, computer generated, crap that hate Nickelback….because they hate EVERYthing (especially themselves). I get some kind of weird pleasure out of listening to music that I find bad. Maybe that makes it good; I don't know. I think it's important to separate your feeling about the music and the musicians behind it. So I'm not really a "hater" in that sense but I just think it's bad music.

I think a lot of the hate stems around the way Chad Kroeger used to look. He just kind of looked like a poser. I actually never hated them, I also never loved them but I can certainly tolerate Nickelback and can sing along to “This is How You Remind Me”. I think as a band your lead singers look can dictate how popular/unpopular you are. It seems silly but I totally believe it’s true. Personally I think if Chad Kroeger looked like he does now when they were in their prime, people wouldn’t hate on Nickelback so much.
