My take on what I thought the Nickelodeon/ Arts (Now the Arts & Entertainment network or A&E) changeover from 1983 may have looked like. I added the Hawaiian Punch commercial because that's one of my favorite 80s commercials. Video NO. 121609B

Well in fairness, that transitional did mean it was time "grown-up TV". Nick even continued that tradition after expanding to 24 hours, and put "Nick at Nite" in that time slot. Old TV shows that our parents watched when they were young.

@UPN: Hawaiian Punch was developed in 1934.

I find it ironic that ARTS came on after Nickelodeon signed off. What kid in their right mind wanted to watch operas and ballet? The second the sign off music for Nick ended, I knew it was time to change the channel with a quickness.

Me too...and yet I remember hoping that someone might screw up and we'd get Nickelodeon all day!

Would be nice if A&E Networks on bringing back ARTS as a 24/7 separate network for this generation.

This is when "Kiki Panda: Legacy of Allegiance" changed from Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness. Suh-weet.

I seem to recall a couple of PSA's that aired on ARTS right around this time that featured Gary Coleman. Coleman also did one with Pat Paulsen. Does anyone else remember?

Yes, but when ARTS launched in early 1981, it had an entirely different ID after Nick signed off. This one was used beginning in 1982, I believe.

Could you describe the different ID? Or was it the mime using a toothbrush to turn off a light one
