James Gilbey (I think) takes care of the Nickelodeon presentation duties on a Saturday morning soon before Christmas 1995 - maybe 23rd December - around Rugrats and into Pete and Pete. Look out for promos for the likes of Global Guts, Fish and Chips (with Mike "Mad for It" McClean and Kate "Click" Russell), Pick Nick at 6 (with Lucy "Homes Under the Hammer" Alexander), and the Watch Your Own Weekend that was currently in progress. For the last of those, James sets up a phone vote between Johann's Gift to Christmas, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, and The Ferals - none of which I remember ever seeing.
Was I missing out by not having a fax machine in 1995? Because I'm surprised by the amount they were evidently receiving. They were also taking phone calls, and here James chats to young viewer Andrew who (it seems) answers a question the previous caller asked, before setting one for the next. Quite a clever concept, that. Oh, and are you a member of the mentioned 'I Hate Christmas Pudding' club? I'll take the same concept a step further: I'm a founder of the 'If Food Looks Like Chocolate, It Has a Solemn Duty to Taste Like Chocolate' club. Christmas puddings fit that bill, but so do those biscuits that look like they've got chocolate chips but they're actually raisins. If you can't trust a biscuit, who can you trust?
Many thanks to David for providing this tape.
