Forgotten Television Wonders: a nostalgic retro-fest for those who grew up in the 80s and 90s. Includes a time capsule of classic (and sometimes bizarre) CBBC and CITV clips, vintage football recordings, and other assorted oddities from decades past - all rediscovered on old videotapes.
Great acting and stories takes me back to my childhood where children's TV was actually inventive and some thought was planned in delivering great inventive stories
It was a long time ago i vaguely remember playschools toys i definitely remember the bbc1 programme screen saver their use to be a clock that would countdown with some superstore music playing.there was allso why dont you , no 73,the muppets, metal micky, jamie and the madgic torch, chips , mork and mindy, danger mouse ,thunderbirds. captain scarlet. stingray .battle of the planets .terrahawks.the fall guy. airwolf knight rider .the a team .space 1999
Its not just the show, its the adverts as well. So much nostalgia. Ghost Train was a regular watch for me. So many memories that feel so close but so far if you know what i mean. Good simple times.
Well, there's this one with Sarah. Kelly sings Angel No: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-drlekgzQ_bM.html Nick sings Reet Petite: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7oL6VT0gI5g.html Joe sings Dancing Shoes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-plFLG3VC7bk.html And Lorraine duets with Rod here, if you want to count that: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nqQXHVFqbIo.html There could be more, but my mind's gone blank.
The Granada listings I have for the 9th Sept 89 show that Batman was shown after the Chart Show instead of The World of Golf. Seems abit odd why Granada didn't air a new series of a golfing programme, unless the date mentioned here is wrong.
Yeah, it could easily be a week either side, but I can't be certain. Thanks for that. (The "c." before the date in the video title stands for "circa".)
Thank you so much for uploading this video to RU-vid this Wizadora episode makes me feel really nostalgic and I love the fact it is from 1993. I was wondering whether your Alphabet Castle episode the Letter V from Wednesday 1st December 1993 has the CITV ident and pre-school start-up song plus the continuity into Alphabet Castle?
I cannot see myself as a sahm having this energy and dancing like this. My hips will probably lock when i move like that hahahahhaa 'we can't stop... Nevermind guys... It ended'
I was wondering whether the Alphabet Castle episode from Wednesday 1st December 1993 has the CITV start-up before the programme plus the pre-school CITV start-up song?
Can confirm 100% that it *is* 17/3/2001 (saw it in the Times collection I mentioned elsewhere). And it had a 21.15-22.00 billing, so it does seem to have been an "abridged" edition.
I can't believe that TV channels advertising on other channels bamboozles you still? :D I guess it's because all these channels had to comply with standards set up by Sky and/or the Cable companies and On Digital (which is how I was able to record these adverts etc. which is why there are minor glitches with the sound and picture) which allowed to do these. At least during the main ad breaks. I suppose it helped to keep people using these satellite/cable/pay TV through an aerial services, which nowadays, you don't see too much of, as everyone can practically get most of these channels for free now. Still, It's nice seeing these and other ads. The quality on the Cartoon Network ads were very good animation wise, and they even had the voice cast reprise their roles from the shows, that's most likely due to them perhaps being recycled from American ones. :) Thanks again as always. :) 'Cringes at the Sky One announcer for his pronunciation of 'Pokemon'. :D
Not so much bamboozled, it just, you know, feels a bit weird. That said, like you, I'm always impressed at the lengths Cartoon Network used to go to when promoting themselves in this era - they really pulled out all the stops. One of the best lessons in building brand identity, I'd say. -------- Sky One announcer: "Pokemon"? What's that? Producer behind the glass: It's short for "Pocket Monsters". Sky One announcer: "Pocky-monn" it is.
@@VideotapeFTW Yeah that scenario you described, pretty much sums up that Sky One promo. :D Though Pokemon has nothing to do with a Japanese chocolate stick snack brand called 'Pocky'. :D It might also be due to the fact that they are kids channels, perhaps there was some ruling that allowed them to advertise on each other's channels to help diversify viewing figures perhaps?
@@David315842 I think anyone's _allowed_ to advertise themselves on a different channel, but the question remains of why anyone would agree to carry an ad for a direct rival. Then again, if you're not scared of the competition and the money's right...
@@VideotapeFTW The other channels were likely not seen as rivals per say, but seen as an extension of their channel packages. Cartoon Network for example is a Warner channel and to be broadcasted here in the UK, Warner would have had to comply with rules set up by Sky, NTL, Telewest, On Digital etc. back in the day and come to think of it, they still have to adhere to regulations set by these services, or their channels wouldn't be broadcasted. That may be why some channels are only available on satellite and others were cable exclusive.
@@David315842 I suppose I can see an incentive for Sky One to advertise different channels that the Sky platform carries. I'm sure one of your videos had Nickelodeon advertising on The Children's Channel or something, though, which makes less sense (to me, at least).
In 1993 this episode was originally shown on Monday 29th November then it was shown for the second time in 1994 on Wednesday 24th August the third time was in 1995 on Wednesday 5th April then the final time was in 1998 on Friday 9th October.
The continued showing old Wizadora after the lead role had been recast? I honestly didn't know that - I'd have thought they'd have wanted to avoid any confusion. Interesting!
