I also like that going by the trailer's editing Sephiroth is implying( or just Gaslighting Cloud) that The Tifa is with the party is Jenova playing dress up

He's playing mind games with cloud.

I feel its more like a better explained version of how Sephiroth is manipulating Cloud's mind after a few lines here and there Jenova will start transforming into people and attacking Cloud and then we get the events in the black materia temple and in the lost capital of the ancient when Sephiroth was pushing Cloud to kill Aerith (could potentially end up going for Tifa too this time around)

Also remember Tifa is the reason Cloud is able to beat Jenovas/Sephiroths control so by him driving a wedge between them he can more easily control Cloud. At least I think that's why he's going this route to mess with Cloud this time around.

I think showing Tifa is a red herring. Could be referring to him killing Aerith in OG 7. We did see Cloud have a momentary flashback of it on the way to the Wall Market iirc.

In the Japanese trailer he refers to Tifa explicitly! I do still think it’s a red herring line of dialogue though

I imagine they will have DLC to introduce Vincent much like they did with Yuffie.

My theory, now knowing it's supposedly only three games total, is that this part will make it all the way to Whirlwind Maze with the Empire Strikes Back "the day is lost" type ending (seriously think that rock/crystal golem in the trainer could be in Northern Crater instead of an earlier cave, doesn't quite match the cavern in the Elena footage at least), and will even include Wutai (possibly just scuttling the Tiny Bronco there instead of using it as a boat, needing an actual boat to proceed), but Gongaga won't be visited until the Keystone hunt instead of being an optional area before that. ...If this series were going to be four or more games I'd expect the ending at Nibelheim/Shinra Mansion with Vincent as a guest character and Mount Nibel as the starting point for a third part. Materia Keeper would be a great opening boss to start a section off with, and visiting the old Reactor where everything went down would be more a reminder of what's happened than a major revelation point (on that point, Sephiroth teasing that he actually killed Tifa in this trailer might be happening at the Nibel Reactor). Ending at Temple of the Ancients would be a problem, because that'd mean however City of the Ancients ends up playing out would be an early game event for the third game, which feels a bit anticlimactic. This is, of course, only if they stick to their promise that events will still be playing out in mostly the same order.

North Crater seems almost certainly the end of rebirth. The word "Rebirth" even insinuates this

Yeah remember Zack being alive means Cloud doesn't take on his memories and Tifa doesn't find him in the Sector 7 slums and jogs his memories. So he's probably still sick/Comatose with Zack trying to laylow in midgar.

It's explained in the OG. Go back to the piano and get the note. She was saved by her martial arts master and brought to midgar to see a doctor So when shinra reached the reactor, only cloud and zack was left. Hojo collected them both and placed both in the test tubes. Tifa escaped

It's probably Sephiroth trying to drive a wedge between Cloud and Tifa since Tifa is the one who helps Cloud regain himself and best Jenova/sephiroths control over him.

@@yl3716 You're probably right, but part of me hopes it's because she's actually seeing something that legitimately terrifies her, a sort of "everybody sees their own demon" kind of moment to fit with the whole "imposter syndrome" vibe sephiroth seems to be pushing in this trailer.

My theory is that it's Zack timeline. Since he never died, Cloud didn't copy him and never met with Tifa in Sector 7 slums to have her help jog his memories of himself so he's probably still Comatose and therefore would just become another Robbed Figure joining the Reunion. Also sephiroth is just trying to drive a wedge between Cloud and Tifa because Tifa is the one that helps him remember who he is and helps him break Jenova/Sephiroths control.

In other translations the line literally namedrops Tifa
