Before he came into F1, he was in the Florida Winter Series with Max Verstappen. Identical single seater cars and he absolutely dominated Max, and the series. He was the stand out star driver. He genuinely showed A LOT of potential at one point in his career, so people hope that potential will be realised again. Just like how RB are hoping the old Ricciardo will make a comeback.

@@JakeM218 Max was 16 at the time, Latifi 18. And Latifi did not dominate shit, he won 4 races, Max 2. Latifi finished second overall, Max third. I am not purposely hating on Latifi but what you're saying is just wrong. Latifi might have had a promising start of his career but he did not deliver when he needed to in F1.

FYI he thought he had an issue with the car (idr if his engineer told him or he just felt something) and was pulling off for the car to be recovered in a safe area, before realizing it was still drivable.
