Of course it was! But my point is 'Normal' AI don't randomly brake check. Also the contact model is unrealistically sensitive, minimal contact leads to a crazy incident.
@@anteplibela nope is the FIA and Liberty media ruining the sport, they gave a lot of "Gifts" (I hope inadvertently, but I know its not) to Mercedes (2013 Pirelli's gate and private Catalunya tests, 2014 engines gate, 2018 rims gate and 2022 TD39 with only Mercedes wanting it), and RedBulls (Probably more random favoritism, they couldnt foresee that using the 2012 Pirellis on 2013 car would've made RB that fast, 2021 with that stupid race management, unfair for bot Ham and Max), and the private test being banned and budget caps prevent other teams to catch up, if not for a change of regulation (like in 2014 and 2022, where both the domination ended), add that Ferrari has been a joke since 2014 (and when they nailed the car like in 2017, 2018 or 2022 they couldnt develop it properly and other than that they do a lot of "Extremely dumb" strategies every now and then)
I keep thinking of how funny commentary would be, "AND HERE COMES LEWIS HAMILTON! Hamilton, loses a place to Hamilton, it's Hammertime!" Michael, Jenson, Nico, and Kimi would feel like the odd ones out here 😂
It may be a beast against cars from the same regs but all the 23 cars are slower due to the added weight and the downforce design philosophy which carries speed through corners better but increases drag on straights
@@shutupsethlampton You are right, but in the video the 2021 car was faster on the straights than Tom's car; that's why I wrote that comment. If It would have been only the 2014 to 2016 cars it would have been absolutely fine.
@@shutupsethlampton Keep in my mind that the 2023 Red Bull DRS effect was insane, whenever they've opened it the car gained so much more speed; in fact I think apart from the 2019 Ferrari no other car from 2017 to 2021 was faster on the straights than the 2023 Red Bull.
The Brawn is IMO the only car from the 2009-2016 era that actually looks good. And MAYBE the 2012 McLaren, but only with its original nose. I hated those rear wings.
Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari will always be favourite looking formula 1 car. Something about the design just makes it look superior even though it’s super old…. I want to see a version of this race without you controlling any of the cars.
I think the outcome would be very straight forward. Except for the last 20 years, the pace of F1 cars has pretty much always improved very quickly and very consistently. Early 2000s cars would annihilate those from the 80s. The result would just be a reverse of the starting grid.
Basically it comes down to race distance. Over a race distance, because of a lack of refuelling, battery charging, etc., a 2004 car can be 100% all the time whereas a modern car can't.
Although the modern car would have an advantage in tyres, even if the modern ones have a very small operating window they could give some issues to the 'tyre war era' tyres. Idk, just saying
The 2017 onwards cars are the fastest in corners but they are wide and heavy so straight line speed is good but like the late 2000 cars are faster the hybrid era cars 2014-16 are the slowest they where really slow back then
@@h4rshturtle456I think on the corners yes, they were the slowest, but on the straights they were flying almost as fast as the 2004-2005 monsters. So Monza could be interesting
@@thearsenalmisfit2414 Not True Vettel didn't have a dominant car in 2010 due to poor reliability or 2012 again poor reliability and Red bull and Mclaren both had 7 Wins Hamilton didn't in 2008 and Verstappen Won in 2021 a season Mercedes Won the constructors so that is not entirely true
@@mattisvettelfan5 The RB was dominant but not reliable. The only year that RB had any threat was 2012 but the McLaren had an even worse reliability. 2021 the RB was better for about 70% of the season but Merc had probability the greatest season upgrade in F1 season, those last six races were dominant. Just like 2005, 2006, and 2009, the winners of the year had the best car for the first 8 races but Ferrari, McLaren and Ferrari caught up but Alonso and Button had built a very big lead that it was would have needed extra races to catch them.
Good video, but I would've preferred if you used the championship winning car. They usually matched, but there were a few exceptions, like the '08 and '21 seasons
As a fellow advocate of small racing cars, can you do a video racing f1 cars but at 75% scale? (Like 1.5m wide, 4m long, and dont forget less weight is also important for racing). Im intrigued to see just how much the racing improves and hopefully itll open the eyes of other people to the potential for action that smaller cars provide
@@Tom97 If I'm reading it correctly he's meaning like shrinking the cars, so turn the current 2023ish boats into sizes like that of the 1970s. less weight shorter wheelbase and narrower would make for better racing especially at like Monaco for example.
@@wss33 The size is part of the problem. Not necessarily slowing them down, but making racing less enjoyable to watch. Especially at Monoco and most street tracks for that matter
@@Tom97 Sorry for late reply but if you know any modders who could make that kinda thing happen yeah without too much adverse effects to the handling. I mean something that handles like maybe a modern f2 car but lighter and a bit more power. In terms of racing, the current cars are too wide, heavy, long and fast (in that order of priority). For sure theres an argument that F1 cars need to be of a certain speed and stature, its an argument I despise but must respect. That doesnt mean there cant be other racing series that capitalise on cars with a bit less grip, less length , less weight and much less width, to create great racing. As it is theres only two near competitors to F1, being Indycar and SF which are both unimaginative as hell. And for SURE in the world of simracing where we dont need to be bound by economics and physics and safety blah blah blah - i dont get why this has never been done before? A racing league with smaller cars would make people realise their merits instantly. I might be preaching to the choir but if its possible for you to find a mod and make a video like this that would go a long way.
People forgot how absolutely rapid and unfair Alonzo's renaults were. In 2 years of that decade the cornering advantage the renault have with the mass damper is the same as Hamilton's Mercs have with its perfect powerplant and DAS.
20 cars are a bit too much, personally for me it should beall championship winning cars by _unique_ drivers (8 - F2004, R25, F2007, BGP001, RB7, W07, W11 and RB19); race is full distance with their own pit stops (refuel or no refuel).
You probably won't do it because it would be kinda the "same" video but with the Renaults being so OP I think it would be interesting to do a one shot quali and then reverse the grid based on that. That way it's more likely to see all the cars in action at some point since everything behind you might come to overtake you while everything in front of you is slower than you are.
@@Tom97 also have you ever had any problems with your game crashing after loading mode because that is happening to me when trying to load the spain circuit that you have used. please help me!
After 2004, have to disagree. At that point, we entered the contstantly ugly phase of F1. Prior to this, cars weren't too bad but ever since all the weird looking aero and the super long cars, they're all ugly as hell now. The liveries improve some of them but the car shapes themselves are just not remotely appealing compared to what came before.
Great video, enjoyed watching the race. Idea for another video, why don't you get all the obscure F1 cars thought out the years. Thing like the Lotus 59b turbine, the Brabham BT46 and the Tyrrell 6 wheel car.
The bottom line is that it's just a video game and not in any way shape or form representative of real life F1 cars. We could only find out which car is really the fastest if they were driven on a real race track by the same driver in similar weather conditions and on the same tyres.
The W12 was the 2021 championship winning car though… not the RB. Verstappen won the drivers but Mercedes won the constructors with the most points. So surely the W12 should be there instead. Not certain on the rest of the history before that but did this happen with other cars too?
always easier to push in clean air, Tom and the W11(even the rest of the cars) was stuck in traffic for pretty much 70% of the race having to defend which will hurt their pace.
those who say that the RB19 was a monster, you guys just found out that it wasn't the case. The W11 was and will be the fastest F1 car of the Hybrid era.
F1 cars having 8 gears… Tom using only 7 at all times. Tom clean driving, crashing into all the AI Also Tom while yes I did crash buuut it was his fault he turned into me. Bruh
RB16B didn’t won the championship in 2021. The driver did but the car didn’t. Mercedes W12 won the constructor championship for 2021. That’s the championship winning car in that season.
