I know right. I just watched it randomly and it actually turned out a pretty good movie lol. Surprised how much I understood, being an English speaker.
I do get the jokes about how fast he learns or how he sounds like a native out of nowhere, but despite all of those plot flawns, you gotta admit this is one hell out of didactic material. And for an educational movie, the story does get your attention.
Yeah, I finished the entire tree and practiced for another six months. Check out SeedLang for oral comprehension. It was made by the folks who do the Easy German videos. Busuu can help as well. Also, if you listen to this slowly and repeat it, you'll get there!
@Sheila Linguist I have a lot of B2 vocab and grammar, but if I am honest, my comprehension and conversation is probably lower B1. I still make mistakes on A2 material though. Busuu has certificate tests, and I passed the B1 exam. I want to do a Goethe Institute test for B1 to see where I am at.
@Sheila Linguistfor the most part, I am a self study. I haven't done any Goethe certifications yet. I would work with a tutor for a while and get a prep book before I tried a Goethe certification.
@Sheila Linguist I don't have an instagram. At the moment, I am not using any prep materials other than online resources for apps: Busuu, Seedlang, and Duoling, for podcasts: Harry Gefangen in der Zeit, Easy German, SWR2 Wissen. Books: Dino Lernt Deutsch, Harry Potter, Tintenherz, Short Stories in German. And then videos like this and the others in the series, then Easy German, and Learn German with Anja. When I am ready to prep for the exam, I'll get a tutor and maybe a Goethe Institute recommended book.
in 2 weeks he learned German language, he got a lot of good friends, and finally he got a nice bicycle as a gift, what an easy life Nico. I'm going now to lose my passport in the airport 😁😂
🤣I found Nico to be likeable at first, but he just became so irritating as time went on! He has everything handed to him on a platter and he's so clueless, he hangs around uselessly just taking advantage of the kindness of others while looking blank most of the time and taking a lot for granted. When his bag and aunt finally turn up, he's not at all happy or surprised. Gosh, I wish I had that kind of care here in Germany! Nico, du Opfer!
A1 (entire movie): a man loses his bag, makes some friends, learns some German, and then finds his bag and aunt A2 (first 20 mins): a man struggles with his uncertain future and his strained relationship with his family; a woman discovers she is pregnant and wrestles with how to proceed
A1 (entire movie) colours, nature, sports, numbers: the world is beautiful and simple. A2 (first hour) capitalism, lies, sales tatics, generation and familie conflicts: the world is a grim horrible place.
I didn’t expect that the whole concept of this educational movie would be so encouraging, as the idea of this movie itself. Even when you just start A2, they already motivate you with distinctive examples of people who are not from Germany but successfully integrated and got settled! That’s such a great idea how not to stop and be motivated to keep learning in order to achieve your goal, the meaning is definitely deeper then it seems
(update) tip on how to use this movie to learn german: 0. you can also use the (video transcription) to copy paste the subtitles, to translate them for exemple. 1. pause and memorize every new word 2. watch again after each 5min to test what you learned and pause and practice listing where it's hard to get 3. be motivated and keep learning
I know that this film has been made for us to learn German but i'm really into the story and I'm a bit frustrated to never hear them speak Spanish 😂 like come on, please
Yep, this is annoying me as well. He does look like a Spaniard but his accent is too perfect and it's absurdly unrealistic that he never says anything in Spanish.
Relax, guys. It's not a commercial series. It means to expose German speaking as nature as possible. Taking this one to Oscar nomination, it would be a joke, but for German learners, it's good enough. Do you watch porn because of good content and drama? :D
Do not give up, my friend. We can face some challenges but we musn't give up. It is so hard to learn any language. I totally agree with you. But we must work hard even ıf ıt is so hard for us. I hope you can learn this language. Good luck in your life 👍👍👍👍💕💕😊😊😊😊
This series is really amazing. Very interesting, too. Already, this episode is above my level, but I've got to keep watching because the story has me invested :) Also, even though Nico is supposedly a beginner, it is best that whoever wrote the story decided to give him sentences that are flawlessly pronounced and grammatically formulated. It would have been annoying and counter-productive for us, learners, to have Nico speak gibberish and be corrected by his friends every other sentence or so. Thank you so much, Deutsche Welle ! Greetings from Romania.
After watching all of those 3 episodes twice, already understand 65-70% of what they talk about. Great way to learn, hope there will be more episodes in the future!!
@@NastyaDro18 The time you spend in the classroom is small compared to how much exposure of the language you actually need to acquire it, but it can be a very good starting point. A good teacher can equip you with a method and tools to speed up the process, but it is up to the student to spend enough time in the language to make everything click.
I've been learning german since 2021 and I've finally finished all the A1 lessons. I watched to Nicos Weg almost 100 times. The plot is so good that I feel motivated to learn just to undestand what's happening in the series. Now it is time to watch the second part 100 times too. haha
Good stuff. Learning. However, I can’t get over Nicos faces he makes. Annoying like he has never been in the outside world. I know you don’t speak the language, but aren’t you aware of society. Also Yara and Pepe have too much sexual tension. Weird
I love Max and Tarek. If your relationships aren't like "I will abandon the job I dislike and open a restaurant with you, and we will name it after our otp's name" then you have to think on it. (they really act like a power-couple change my mind)
This series is excellent. Very easy to follow and learn and quite engaging. But as a Spaniard, I have to say, with the likely hundreds of Spanish actors in Germany, why are these 2 "Spanish" characters, Florian Wunsche and Catharina Sofie Schmitt???
Thank you very much for your kind words! That's a good question. The movie is getting older, back then we thought it was a good idea to have someone who is a native speaker play it. Nowadays we would approach this kind of didactic movie differently. :)
I was on Reddit reading through articles that say something like "It is not easy to make German friends if your German is not good", and now Nicole can make viele viele freunde once he landed in Deutchland, and become C1 within a few days.
My A2 wasn't this good 😂😂😂 first time I watched this I didn't understand a thing but now that am doing B1 i understand better. Nico is a genius 🥰wish I could learn Deutsch that fast, even his sentence constructions are perfect 😏
ja ich auch- when I was actually at A2 this was really difficult. now that I'm somewhere between A2 and B1 this is good, I've had to pause and look up words at least to be sure I'm understanding each word, but it wasn't too bad. Wondering how B1 will be though!
Nico's German dialogues are more (accent-free) in this series compared to other characters who were portrayed as native speakers. We are wondering how his skill is going to be at B2 - C2 series. He may probably become Politician in Germany?
I wrote a comment almost one year ago on this video saying that I was starting this level, and I finished it just one week ago, certainly, it was more difficult than A1, It took me a lot of time and was pretty challenging but I´m watching the whole video without subtitles so I can get to know what I have to review before starting B1. This course is great and has helped me a lot
The bro's and their aunt even coming from Spain, they have a conversation in German language without any accent. I can not underestand this, but on the other hand, the story is very interesting.
