@@muckle8 that's because a large chunk of public opinion is media driven take this piece for example its designed to make you outraged it presents a tub thumping solution which is completely unworkable and unobtainable while rolling you up about immigrants I'm a Technical Analyst when all the migration rhetoric started getting heated before the referendum I did a deep dive into the topic, historical, social and economic So here's a few facts which people like Nige don't want to talk about The UK birth rate is 1.6 it needs to be 2.1 to maintain the current population I did a quick calculation we need about + 250k to remain stable An EU migrant pays approx 80,000 more in tax than someone born in the UK to the exchequer and a non EU migrant 28,000 Without a stable population the tax burden on workers will steadily increase to cover the shortfall of an aging shrinking population What we need is an adult conversation about where we get the 250k what skills we require from non at all isn't an option and then another adult conversation about do we want to expand our economy if so is there a case for more migrants. The Tories saying one thing then doing another isn't a surprise big business will be pressuring them and they think they can get away with throwing some red meat into the debate to distract with Rwanda

@@martinjohnson9316 Boris would have still won. With a much smaller majority though, which is better for all concerned. Boris didn't believe in Brexit at all. He saw it as his opportunity to set himself up as PM by being contrarian. It worked a treat. Brexit always was a religion. It meant everything and nothing at the same time. It also hasn't survived coming in to contact with reality all that well.

Also, we need immigration to fill certain sector job vacancies. We wouldn't need so many if we actually invested in training and educating our own population, but that would be far too sensible.

These construction and maintenance jobs are not done by Indian migrants but maybe by the ones coming from east European countries. Most Indian migrants who move to the UK work in IT, finance and trading, and research which greatly supports the UK remaining an important global hub for business.

But surely no one believed that leaving the EU would reduce non EU migration? How was that supposed to work? - the EU didn’t control or even influence U.K. policy on non EU migration. And did those same people believe that visas would not be a tradable in new trade deal negotiations? No wonder people are dissatisfied if they had such unrealistic expectations.

Furthermore Britain has not left its neighbours, but simply withdrawn from a political union which was becoming evermore undemocratic.
