He has great tone and some cool riffs. I would not call it "amazing", but he is evidently not trying to be the star. He is emphasizing worship to God and that I call amazing. none of these solos are particularly impressive or difficult, they are just great, though, for their purpose. I don't think Niegel has ever put out there the best he can do as a guitar player.
these solos are amazing to me. nigel style in playing is amazing in a way its not very common to hear and it fits to the congregation, until now many church guitarist copy him..hes guitar playing revolutionizes praise and worship today..like dotted 8th...though its still a mystery to me what style his using in 2nd version of hosanna lead part
I've met Nigel in person and had multiple guitar classes with him, and he's totally humble about his amazing talent. It's all about where your heart is at when playing. Ask yourself are you playing to a crowd or are you playing to the Lord?
I find it sad that many on here, obviously church people themselves, consider this to be self glorifying etc. ... so what then? should musicians in church play timidly and reserved in order to glorify God with the talent he made us to have. You all have it backwards. 180 degrees backwards. What you should be able to see is a group of people having an absolute blast praising God with music musicians and the rest of the congregation. whether you play like van Halen or whether you play a few gentle chords, the heart you do that with can either be for God or for yourself. The hillsong music ministry has for the last few decades spearheaded music ministry in that style of church congregation. God has blessed that ministry immensely. So I imagine their hearts are set firmly for God and not themselves. Let's check the logs up front before picking at the specks on others, no?
If you think a michael jackson Guitar solo part is to be played in a worship , Holly ( suppose to be ) moment is OK then let’s take everything out there and play in congregation . That’s why Christianity is where it is now , because we backed down , we want to be with the world and with God at the same time
Man way to kill a brothers' mood, I was really enjoying myself until I read all the negative comments. Nigel and Hillsong in general have done more for the Body of Christ than any of us here combined. Most of the stuff that would pass for 'amazing' is useless and terribly distracting in a worship context. And who has become like God amongst us that can judge a man's heart? Nigel knows how to play n'sync with a vocalist and band producing marvelous worship which is why in my opinion Darlene prefers working with him. Nigel any day brother! Great video
SIck! i Love that song!! But guys can you help me. i wanna buy a new guitar. either a fender telecaster, gibson sg or gibson les paul. and i play many diferent kind of music but i play this kind most. what guitar is best for this stuff?
Amazing Nigel! It's still sad to see how only a minority of great guitarists devote their God given talent to God rather than fame. It is my dream to become a great guitarist and play for God alone :D
it sounds a lot like the opening riff of thunderstruck... and i wouldn't be surprised if the droff did have a little angus young influence too (being australian and all...)
Even, what we see is a good guitar player showing us his talent. But we don't see the glory of God in it (even when you can say: "hey, he is glorifying God with his talent"). Yes is true, God commands us to be light in dark places, and to do everything for His glory. But never forget this: We must shine with HIS light, and honour and praise God ONLY.
It is hard to remember this. I have tried to remember why i am doing it, while i am playing, but it is hard. (Especially when people cheer you on). So i just think back to a guitarist i saw at a baptist church. When he would do a solo, and people would cheer for him; all he would do was turn around, face the wall, and point up!
to be the most versatile i recommend what he's using, the duesenberg starplayer tv special. or you could look towards 25" scale guitars such as PRS and get a good amp and pedals after. you should be able to get his tone. :D
i was just surprised but its ok i guess if its for messing around. and yes in what the world will never take, in the iheart version the thunderstruck riff exists and nigel played it here as well

Escuche unos segundos de riff de The edge, ANGUS Young y obviamente el de triller
could someone pplease recomend a good contemporary worship guitar instructional dvd? Ive already tried hillsongs creative thing and paul baloche's modern worship. I dont mind any price range but Im not really a beginner so.... Btw nice soloing. Ive heard a different solo in "the world will never take"
Would be cool to have the break free solo Jerome! =) And as B00bert said the starting of the solo is from "beat it" of Micheal Jackson, that should save you some time ;) Thnx Psycr0itc
@MrJackanthony - I had NO idea you had responded... SO sorry for the delay. Lincoln has two DVD's you can google - "1 on 1 with Lincoln Brewster" Vol. 1 and 2. Check out lincolnbrewster . com. Blessings!
nigel hendroff and lincoln brewster is my truly inspiration to play electric guitar for worship. guys do anyone here know what distortion that nigel use? i wondering to having that sounds too :D
He's not trying to show off and get fans! if he was trying to show off he wouldnt be joining in eith the crowd and the children. just because hes playing a hard solo doesnt mean he is trying to show off cos naturally guitarists enjoy playing hard solo's... AGREED?!
@ndnkiwi It's funny that you said that because A week after I watched this video, I heard Lincoln Brewster for the first time lol.... So now Lincoln and Nigel are the best Christian guitarists I've ever heard
Thats true, I'm a guitarist in my church worship team myself and I wouldn't dare do anything like that in a slow song but with fast songs I do tend get a litte carried away, especially at the end. But yeah, its not wrong (unless your heart is in the wrong place, but thats for God to decide) but it would be cool to do anything 'that causes others to stumble'. So yeah, moderation. xD
