A team that played draw with Lesotho and Zimbabwe. How are people expecting good results from a bigger team like South Africa and Benin who are no more pushovers in football. Benin deserved the victory. They are more united, resilient and cohesive. They really played like one family. No thanks to Dosu, Olaitan and other yorubas in that team.
When i was saying Findi George was incompetent in our first match. Some fans attacked me that we played well for the first time in a long time and that was their yard stick to measure our team performance. When does playing well win matches? Ask Man City against Real Madrid. Finidi isn't a good grade A coach. He should be coaching in the Nigerian local league where his predigree belongs. Our incompetent NFF brought a mediocre coach which was laughable. Emmaunel Ammunike could have done way better than Finidi George. But i am still in support we hire a grade A coach, but not just any foriegner anywhere in the globe. But corruption wouldn't allow NFF do their home work well & appoint a creditable coach. I still been saying firing Rohr was a big mistake by our incompetent NFF. Rohr was a manager that qualified us for the world cup with three games to spare. Nigerians forget so easily too. Since we fired him our football has gone down the pipe. As i repeated before we aren't qualifying from this easy group. The only way is to fire Finidi George immediately and bring in a winning mentality coach who has to win all our matches home & away from now.
What if Super Eagles and Finidi loses?! Let's swim and sink with our local coaches. Let them and the players learn. In the worst scenario, hire another indigenous coach to replace a supposedly non-performing one. Let the Nigerian mentality move away from foreigners solving their problems for them. The minister of sports and NFF took a good decision with hiring an indigenous coach. Let them stay with the idea of a local coach and stick with them till they begin to get the desirous results.

Honestly the Nigerian players play well just that they are so relaxed like they are still playing in Europe forgetting what’s at stake that they are competing against African teams who have never been to World Cup and want to do anything to qualify. So I think the players need to be more aggressive and passionate about winning. 6 games more. You guys can qualify if you want to. I’m from Ghana and honestly our team is not playing the best of football but you could see that hunger and aggressiveness to win however possible

What can Nigeria do right? Nothing as far as I am concerned. I remember during the 1970s when Nigeria was on top of football in Africa, easily beating countries like Benin Republic and many other countries in Africa. To date, instead of improving on their football skills from what it used to be in the 70s Nigeria is digressing from good to worst. This can be attributed to bad government. I remember when we, Stephen keshi, Henry Nwosu, etc were playing principal's cup in lagos there were football fields almost at every corner of Lagos State. Now you can hadly see a football field to train in. Why wouldn't Nigeria football be digressing when the government doesn't see the importance of protecting or maintaining the existing football fields, the most important aspect of breeding better football players
You are funny. You totally forgot on February 11th 2024, Nigeria's Super Eagles played Ivory coast in the Final of the 2023 Africa 🌍 Cup of Nations tournament in Abidjan. Just approximately 4 months ago. And yet, you are now saying Nigerian football has gotten worst just because Nigeria lost to a good Benin Republic team. Lol! Former Napoli coach, Italy coach Luciano spalleti said modern football is not about formation but creating space to play and score. That's wat makes u a sound modern coach. Nigeria was playing, benin were sitting with their goal keeper, denying eagles indepth space to score, that is why peisero was playing defense cos of the kind of Africa opponents, they don't attack u wen they know u have better players. That is were finidi lack indepth ability of a modern coach or not build a team due to time of dat capability to switch style. Sometimes also ur styl is also dependent on the kind of players u have, I would have suggested eagles played a reserve formation that will try to make them come out so as to explore spaces than to attack them fully, we never sabi lik bacelona or man city 😬

I've said it time and again that Nigeria's only problem is her leadership, just lokk at a novice like George Finidi being given to the Super Eagles as head coach. Very poor and nonprolific performance of the Super Eagles, so shameful that the Republic of Benin beats Nigeria in a football match in Ivory Coast.
At the 24:24 minute when a Benin player was trying to cross the ball from the right wing, with all the Nigerian players focused totally on him, his teammate was standing behind the last Nigerian defender and was waving his hands, calling for a cross to him. No Nigerian player noticed him. Even the Nigerian player who was leisurely coming back near the 18 yard box didn't see him either, as every single Nigerian player was busy ball watching. That's terrible wareness! Not to mention that with each cross into the Nigerian box, their opponents didn't get picked up, despite Nigeria having more numbers than Benin forwards each time. There's no excuse for that!
Finidi and his heavy duty and well fed assistants can now throw in the towel for their inability to manage array of talents abound in Nigeria to positive results.

No specific instructions were given to each of team regarding their roles. Hence, the disjointed results we saw. With Finidi at the helm, it will only get worse. We need a coach that understands modern football like Havre Renard
