"I was passionate" even as a child, This is the self-determination effect, this is the effect of having a nation formed of YOUR OWN volition, you WANT to defend it, you WANT it to be great, you WORK for that greatness by YOURSELF because it is YOUR Fatherland formed and named by YOUR FATHERS the exact opposite of Nigeria and many other glorified colonial territories merely given new names on the African continent. You had Men and Boys swearing with their blood to defend their land and people, to protect their revolution, to defend their ideology, to defend THEIR CREATION and identity. "There must be a cause for war"
If you are talking about the Southern minorities, you are wasting your time, unless you are expecting a huge story of cowardice, greed and betrayal treachery. Once approached by Nigeria they quickly agreed to cooperate with them and quickly turned against the Biafran Soldiers that were stationed in their areas, sabotaging and giving them away. Are you not aware of the abandoned property issue, in Port Harcourt and the environ? Why do the Ikweres changed their names and names of places and towns? Why are other River rein people and some people in the Delta areas deny being Igbos. Ironically, all of these people were Igbos, until during and after the Civil War. It is a shame!
@@LimitlessJewelwhat are your grounds? it is a show of complete lack of sense and gross intellectual absence, to dismiss my comment as a lie. Posit your stance and let’s hear your argument, if you ever had any. Other than that, just hush and, quit making a fool out of yourself. Thank you.
A brilliant & passionate interviewee. Congrats to him & to Mr Obilo for his well rounded, mature skills. The ultimate solution to the Nigerian problem is to let the ethnic nationalities peaceably become independent nation states. Biafra is one of the ripest for this.
Obilo why didn't you ask important questions, like the roles if the west against biafra during the war,we lost not because we are weak,we lost because amarments were no more, but we are here again, with the earthquake, watch and see
The entire Biafran Army only had 4% of the ammunition Nigeria had and Biafran troops still dealt considerable damage to Nigerian troops taking 100k-150k to the grave, most of the deaths on the Biafran side were civilians (mostly children) killed by starvation or extra-judicial air bombings on hospital and civil centres(The pilots of the aircrafts most of the were Egyptians contracted by the Nigerain federation cuz the Nigerian army lacked competence) atrocities like that weren't even done in WW2 but of course the Harold Wilson, The British PM at the time bribed the UN to turn a blind eye. The British,The USSR,The United Arab Republic etc. all sided with and pumped Nigeria with ammunition, Funny how the countries that sided Biafra were actual African nations like Ivory coast, Gabon,Haiti etc. and China under Mao
Biafrans fought with their bare hands, not for victory, but to avert a planned extermination. Awolowo helped the international conspiracy against Biafrans to starve over 3million Biafran babies. He is a mass child killer
I've read a lot about the Civil War. I kind of feel for the South East back then because I feel they have been maltreated by the Hausa Fulani tribe in particular. The first Government formed after independence was corrupt according to the coupe plotters of January 1966. Those in charge of eliminating political targets in the East failed. This looked like an Igbo coupe to the northern area of the country. This is one of the key reasons why the north hated the east. To make matters more complicated, when Aguyi Ironsi took over, he in my opinion made a terrible mistake of centralizing his Government's power. This further infuriated top personalities especially from northern origin. This also led to the coupe of July 1966 where mostly military officers of Igbo extraction were killed. It didn't stop there, people of Igbo extraction living in the North were attacked and killed. This and other events snowballed into the Civil War. As a Yoruba man, I personally find it unfair that the core south east has not produced an elected President since independence. I happened to do my NYSC Youth Service over two and a half decades ago in Abia State. I still saw traces of the effects of the Civil War. As for Odumegwu Ojukwu and his advisers, I blame them for going into a War without being fully equipped! They should have bought arms from external sympathizers while they too take time to develop local arms for at least 6-12 months before declaring secession. I personally dislike the Fulani tribe because they have been the major problem of this country called Nigeria. Amadu Bello, Tarfawa Balewa and a lot of top military officers like Muritala Mohammed were of Fulani extraction. They had from independence always wanted to continuously remain as rulers in Nigeria. This explains why most of the country's leasers have come from the North! The way I'm seeing the present state of affairs in Nigeria, agitation for self determination may be hard to stop because the south eastern part of the country still feels marginalized.🙄
This man is a strong soldier. I respect him for speaking truth and still standing in actualization of Biafra. I respect him a lot. I’ve never seen interviews more out spoken like this without beating around the bush. I want to meet this man.
Why do people like this interviewer keep reducing Biafra to an Igbo affair? The man talked about defending “Biafra” and the interviewer erroneously talked about defending “ndi igbo”. Biafra wasn’t about the Igbos please. Ojukwu’s 2ic was Gen Philip Effiong.
I beg to differ with the Biafran’s conclusive thesis that Biafra lost the war. He is misinformed. Biafrans were persuaded to lay down their arms, with the fakish and deceptive three “Rs”., which never came to pass. That was the only way they agreed. Biafrans were ready to continue with Guerrilla Warfare. That Ojukwu ran away is another exhibition of his limited knowledge of the War, probably, due to his you g age. Ojukwu was persuaded to leave, in spite of the the agreement, because he might be stilled as tou can witness from their unreliability. It was at Uli Airport, with M. I. Okpara and Akanu Ibiam and a couple of other high-ranking Igbo personalities, present. Okukwu refused to board that Aircraft, en route Ivory Coast. Akanu Ibiam was crying, threatening to kill himself, if Ojukwu, because he was of the belief that Nigeria was going to massacre the rest of us . They wanted Ojukwu to leave, so that he could be out there, to still be a voice and advocate for the Biafrans. Ojukwu was the last to board that flight, very late at night, with other people, includimg the families of the Chief of General Staff, Major-General Phillip Effiong’s family was, in that Aircraft and the Major-General was left to tender the Article of Surrender, according to the agreement with the Federal Military Government. Why did Gowan declare “No Victor, No Vanquished”? But why should Biafra not lose the War, when virtually the whole world fought against us? We fought with no weapons, except what we captured from them and what Biafran Engineers and Scientists manufactured, yet it took the three years. Struggle continues.
Well, a point of correction. Mr. Uchenna Ogbogu's song: ......Ndi Hausa. It was not directed specifically to the Hausas, but to a wider "spectrum". This was due to the fact that before the Civil War, everyone from the then Eastern Nigeria was called and addressed as an Igbo person, while everyone from the then Northern Nigeria was regarded as a Hausa person. That of the Western Region was a bit different because the then Western Region was made up of mostly the Yorubas, with the exception of parts of the present Ondo State, and the wider tribes of Bini, Esan Itsekiri, Urhobo, Isoko and the western Igbos that were not classified as Yorubas, and Awolowo never regarded and wanted them as one of their own. Awo, as he was called wanted a pure Yoruba Region. It should be remembered that because Obafemi Awolowo wanted a "purely" Yoruba region, that prompted him to table a Motion/Bill both in the Western House of Assembly and the House of Representatives to excise the non-speaking Yorubas from the then western Nigerian out of the western region and give them a region of their own. That gave birth to the creation of the Mid-West Region in 1963.
Then you must be stupid. How can you go to war equipped with catapult? The university student who encouraged Ojukwu to go to war started their preparation with 50 cutlasses. How senseless can those Igbo can be. Let us keep praying IPOB don't fall into such stupidity.
Obilo why all these discussions on Nigeria Biafra war when there is problem in Nigeria just like this protest. This too much know Anambra people are putting the rest of Igbos in danger and retreat to claiming angel
The irony of all this is, the first coalition that ever existed was between the North and the East, even at independence. The third arm was marginalised then the rift between Zik and Tafawa Balewa. Nobody talks about this.
We Yoruba are known to be peace lovers, we are not social media rats like the Igbos. We are a force to reconcile with. No tribe dares to play nonsense with us.
Sir, u did very in Ur statement but Igbos didn't lost the war because the people that had no weapons but held the Nigerian Government, USSR British, west for Three years of wars are not children.
So how, so of us are not comfortable with interviews giving out the secrets ( info) on how the war was executed. I wish that we leave some stories untold.
Honestly, Igbos need think tanks to understand things as they are. That war was not Biafra vs Nigerian war. A British journalist during the so called Biafra vs Nigeria simply referred it as inter-tribal war. This was majorly a war between Igbos on one side and Hausa/Yoruba on the other side. All other minorities were appendages. Today, the tribal war against Igbos continues from one tribe only...... the Yorubas.
Dey play. Yoruba of all people? Do you think the Yorubas have your time? Your enemy has always been the Hausas but you fail to see it, just like your ancestors, Zik and Ojukwu. Awolowo literally went to Zik to form a joint government. But no, Zik feared Awo and Yoruba people’s intelligence and went to form a government with the Hausa man. They both connived and put Awo in prison. Majority Igbo soldiers killed mostly Yoruba and Hausa leaders. And the Hausas retaliated by killing thousands of Igbos in the North (which the Yoruba’s didn’t do in South West). Of which the Hausas have vowed to never forgive the Igbos till today. Ojukwu lost the war, ran away on exile. But came back and went to form alliance with the same Hausa that killed millions of your people, just like Zik did with Tafawa Balewa. Every time there’s an election, Igbos join forces with the Hausa, instead of the Yorubas that actually understand them and probably liked each other more. But no, Obi went to Dafti. Hausas don’t want you guys to be president, cos of fear of cessation. And they think they’re born to rule Nigeria. Yorubas will be very fine with their region if Nigeria divides. But you guys fail to see it. Na Yoruba be your problem. Instead of you to pally with them, especially the master politician, Tinubu.
You were saying indi Igbo lost the war thats purely Biafran war not Igbo war.(Biafra is not only tribe mind you when next you are on journey correct your self).**
This Obilo. You need to call a spade a spade. It was not a war. IT WAS A GENOCIDE! ...and what a stupid question.. "why ndi Awusa" Wasn't Ndi Awusa who committed all those 10s of thousands of massacres of butchered bodies that were sent down to the East by train.
This was the lies spread in the East to justify the execution of Victor Banjo. Victor Banjo was no saboteur but a dedicated Biafra commander heading to capture Lagos but they were halted in Ore because the Biafrans troops were overwhelmed facing well equipped army 20 x their numbers so they lost the battle in Ore and the ones alive escaped back to the East. If Victor Banjo was a saboteur, he would have switched position in Ore instead of traveling back to Enugun where he was executed as a traitor. You can see that the rumours in the East make no sense. After the war all Biafrans top officers previously in Nigeria Army, Air force and Navy were kept in detention in Lagos and I was their erand boy at 19 helping them with messages outside the detention. I spoke with them everyday for some months they spent in detention awaiting trial. The war was totally unnecessary but the slaves masters initiated the genocide in other to maintain Berlin conference that we are still suffering from. I don't think it was a Biafra war but it was a British war fought on Biafra land. The war was necessary but I think that the timing was wrong. May the souls of the victims continue to rest in perfect peace 🕊️.
This is a saboutur if you are not a saboutur why grant this, are you happy. Moreover you said you want to secondary school after the war and then how old were you during the war.
Everyone loves to defend his own, the Igbos will defend Ojukwu and Zik, the north, Ahmadu Bello and Balewa and the yorubas Awolowo. I disagree with the interviewee's disposition on Ifeajuna and Banjo. Biafra could have won the war had Ojukwu listened. Ademoyega's "Why We Struck" explains clearly.
FRAME 17:00 "Ndìîgbò lost the war. They were defeated." --Obilo & Company That was ROUND I. Hang around to tell the story of ROUND II. By the way, "Ndìîgbö" did not "lose the war," "Biāfrans" "were defeated."

The name Ak47 depicts the year the gun was invented which was in 1947, the war started 20yrs after the invention of Ak47. Do your findings on this to verify
I know that there was Ak47 before the war but we have it the ibos or we the Biafrans.. Like I sad I was member of Bryce company during the war.No body gave us gun
